A canine collar can be constructed of plastic, leather or a cloth and must be placed circling a dog's neck to keep the dog from running away. A dog collar is widely used for many different uses. Some individuals use a dog collar to tie up the dog and take him/her on a stroll; owners enamor canines and hence want to keep them from running. It can be devastating to lose your dog for this reason.
Owners who own larger animals (Great Danes, Bulldogs, or German shepherds, for instance) would be better off to use a leather collar because leather is very strong. Furthermore, many like the look of leather when put beside other materials. As long as the pup does not pull the chain, which is tied to the collar, the leather collar should not get torn. Although people who have smaller dogs like a Pomeranian would see more benefit with a cloth or nylon-webbed canine collar. These are usually cheaper and available in smaller sizes for smaller breed dogs such as the Pomeranian. Due to the fact the majority of small canines do not have enough strength to tear through a collar, for more petite canines, these nylon or cloth collars are not a bad option. These collars come in a myriad of colors, designs, and sizes. Not only are there a myriad of colors but also available are florescent collars that glow in poorly lit areas so that the owner can see his/her canine no matter what.
Collars do not only come in specific styles and sizes made to fit certain breeds; they are also constructed to take on other purposes. a couple of collars have studs or other decorations that can add a glittering effect; especially if the dog is a female. These studs, however, have a use other than aesthetics. Studs are sometimes used to protect the canine in case another dog tries to bite the pup wearing the collar on the neck.
On top of colors and decorations, dog collars can also come with pesticides on them. Typically, these medicated collars are soaked in a solution that causes fleas to die. As well, medicated collars are used to help a dog's suffering from affected areas of skin. The medication that are given out through the color is in doses that are small and lingers for one or two months.
Pup collars can also be used for educational purposes. These collars are in most cases used exclusively for education and removed during other activities. These collars should always be worn lose; there have been mortal cases due to an over-tightened collar around the dog's neck. It is important that this collar be used in conjunction with training only. If you feel confused about how to use the collar, you should consult a dog trainer on the internet or at a specific training facility.
Canine collars are an essential component to keeping man's best friend. Not only is it not dangerous for your dog to be on a leash, it is also safe for other people. Often, collars are made to attach a tag on the pup that displays their owner's home location and phone number if the dog gets lost. This very benefit has given the ability for many pups to be reunited with their owners after being lost.
