The absolute easiest way to stop your dog from begging food of the table is to never ever give him any food from the table. The second easiest way is to examine why he is doing so and then address the problem. There can be dietary issues in play when it comes to food begging, but usually it's because he's got food that way before and he simply likes to get some more.
Check his diet and make sure that your dog is eats enough proteins in order to stay well. Avoid food with the word "byproduct" on the label. If you do give him this kind of food, chances are that he is receiving too much wheat and not enough protein. Changing his food to a higher protein based dog food may help solve the problem. This applies to grass and fecal eating as well.
Many people let their dog lick the plates clean. You can train your dog to be the best dishwasher in town without ever coming close the table. When you sit down to eat, everyone in the family has to agree that the dog needs to stay elsewhere. Agree on the restricted area as a family so that you can enforce the new rule as a family.
Delimit the area where you eat and make it off limits for your dog. Every time he enters the room and crosses the line you will have to stand up and use the command for "back" or "out" while using your body to block further entry. It is best if each family member takes a turn so that your dog knows that everyone is serious about this issue.
Every time your dog breaks in to the restricted area one of the family members walks toward the dog and executes the "back" command. Once the dog is back beyond the boundaries he can be rewarded usually with a simple pat on the head. Every time he tries to follow you into the eating area, you simply repeat the command.
If your consequent, he'll quickly learn that it makes no sense to beg food from the table. Until he has learned this routine and also obeys voice commands, each person in the family will need to practice this routine with him.
I don't recommend you to feed your dog any type of table scraps. However, most of us do. If you really want to stop your dog from begging of the table, you need to be sure no one gives him anything while your eating. One exception will ruin weeks of training and will worsen begging behaviour.
