The convenience of a dog sitter is fully appreciated when you have to go somewhere that doesn't allow pets. Hotels that allow pets might know of a few pet sitters nearby.
You might have friends who live on the way to your destination who would have you for a night or two. Bring protection for your friend's stuff if your dog is playful. Good visitors always find homes to stay in.
Like anyone else, your dog is more comfortable in a new place if there are familiar things with them. Sometimes, dogs would also want their own possessions with them in addition to their owner to feel more secure. It'll make things easier for everyone.
Canine curiosity makes a journey seem fuller. Meeting new acquaintances during travel is especially easy with a dog in tow. Having your dog with you on a trip is a whole new experience.
