So you have a dog with a little bit of a problem. You've seen these guys on TV pushing their products and they make it look so easy, so now you're wondering: is a dog training DVD a good way to learn? Well, the answer is yes, if you are willing to put in the time and patience.

There are many reasons that people don't want to go to a trainer. First, and foremost is the expense. A good trainer will not be cheap. If they're cheap they can't be that good, and this is an area that you don't want to skimp on.

If you are considering taking classes, think it through. There is the drive time (hopefully, your dog's problem doesn't involve car rides), and the loading and unloading no matter what the weather. If you're unlucky, it will rain on class night and you get to smell wet dog in your car, plus after they get out. And remember, if you go to class you are on their time then, not yours. If you can't make a class, will it throw you behind? How fast can you get in? What if one of the dogs there transforms into a demon when your dog enters the room? And if the class doesn't work out you will probably not be eligible for a refund.

Another great thing about doing your dog training by DVD is that it will save you time and money. As far as time goes, you won't have to drive back and forth to see a dog trainer and spend hours of your time away from home. It will save you money because you won't have to pay for private trainer to help you with your dog.

Another great thing about training DVDs is that you can go back and review the material as often as you wish. We all know that training and all practice and repetition, so having the DVDs on hand will allow you to run through the motions of each session in the time you wish.

So, if you want to know if a dog training DVD a good way to learn, it really depends on what you consider a good use of your time. You can either spend it carting your canine back and forth to class, or you spend that time more wisely in the comfort of your own home.

Are you a cat owner who fear that daily scooping and cleaning of your cat's litter box? First off, can't actually blame you for having this problem. That terrible smell, those droppings are enough to send anybody running miles away. Well, maybe it's the time to learn how to toilet train a cat.

Though toilet training cats applies to any aged cat, it is better to toilet train a cat that's still relatively young. Kittens are the most receptive, able to learn easily and fast. Cats in the one- to three-year range are still pretty young, though. At that point I would not worry much about the age factor at all ; if your cats are typically bright and companionable, you must make out OK.

Usually, there's just one cat in question . However, it is also possible that you wish to toilet train many cats at once . If this is the case, you must consider which one to reprimand if there is a mess up. Confinement is a good idea but not always practical. Also, if all cats are being trained concurrently, it can be hard to monitor and keep tabs on their progress. However, with the right cat toilet coaching guide, you can simply avoid such Problems.

How to toilet train a cat is something that many cat owners are asking now. Not surprising, considering the advantages that one would gain in coaching a cat to use the toilet. In reality, learning how to toilet train your cat is deem to be the ultimate solution to all your litter box troubles. And the good news is that training your cat to use the toilet is not hard at all!

This Is how to toilet train your cat simply and quickly. Firstly, you have to start changing the location of the litter box. Shift it closer to the toilet. Eventually, put it inside the toilet next to the toilet bowl. Next, raise the height of the potty gradually until it reaches the height of the toilet bowl and then placing it on top of the toilet seat when your cat get accustomed to the height.

Now, replace the litter box with a metal pan and fit it to sit beneath the lid of the toilet seat. Let your cat poops into the metal pan. Remove the metal pan and there you have it, a toilet train cat!

You have to know your cat's personality in order to successfully make him dump the habit of using the litter box. Use the right tricks and treats and you'll see quick results but use the incorrect one, you'll end up having your cat stop using the litter box also.

But before you go get started, there's only 1 more thing you need to know that will well decide your success or failure.

The strategies described above is just some of many available when you're attempting to find how to toilet train a cat. You have to know you cat's personality in order to get him to quit of using the litter box. Use the right tricks and treats and you will see fast results but use the wrong one, you may end up having your cat stop using the litter box as well.

For any household which has a pet, you already know how significant they can grow to be in your family. One of the more common varieties of pets which you can acquire for your family is a bird. If yours is a family that has a lot of responsibilities and not a lot of time to devote to a pet such as the amount that it takes for a dog or a cat, then having a bird is perfect, because as long as you do just a few things for them they are fine.

However, like all animals, birds might get sick, and because they are less common than cats and dogs, and because you are going to interact with your bird much less than your cat or dog, you might find it difficult to tell when your bird is sick. Fortunately though, there are some things that can be done to help you to pay closer attention to the bird that will help you to be aware if it becomes ill.

If you are familiar with the song that your bird sings, then you'll know without a doubt when the bird is not feeling well. he method that a bird uses to communicate with the world it lives in is through singing. Depending on the time of the day and how the bird is feeling it will make separate sounds accordingly as you will see by paying attention to it. There are birds who have various songs for both the morning and the evening. Birds will often react differently with the diverse members in your family and make different sounds accordingly.

There will be noises that it makes when you change its food or water, or when you put something in the cage. You need to make yourself become aware of these differences in your pet as it is your responsibility as their caregiver. This will allow you to know immediately when something is various. If your pet bird starts making sounds that it has never made, or if it is reacting differently than it normally does, it could be a sign that it is getting sick.

Movements are also something that will change with a birds behavior patterns. The bird will develop patterns of the places in the cage that it likes to perch the best and the types of activities that it enjoys doing.

If you see that your bird isn't moving as much as it usually does, or is sitting on the floor of the cage instead of on its perch, it might be sick, and you should pay some attention to it. Also, if it is moving much more than usual, and trying to fly out of the cage, it also might be sick, and there should be something done about it. Don't hesitate to take your bird to the vet if you are in doubt.

It seems that it is all about getting to know your bird, and the single method that you could really accomplish that would be to spend a sprinkle of time in attending to it. A very wonderful means for you to interact with and get acquainted with your bird is through training your bird. Learn to try this at http://cockatielbirdcage.com

A well trained dog is like a well-behaved child. They are wonderful! The same applies the other way round ' an untrained dog is like a disobedient child. They can cause havoc! That's why it is important for every dog owner to do some simple dog training.

Every dog can be trained, despite the fact that many believe that some dogs are beyond training. Sure, some dogs are harder to train because they may have deep-rooted bad habits, while other dogs take to training like a fish to water. In actual fact, it depends on how good the trainer is.

A dog that is trained will be happy, relaxed and secure. All dogs instinctively like to follow commands, and they will always turn to one person as their leader. This is how they behaved when they used to live and hunt in packs. One dog was always the leader, or the 'alpha'. You will need to take on this role with your dog.

The first step is to teach your new puppy or dog their name. When a dog knows his or her name, they will react each and every time you call. This will form the foundation of subsequent training.

Next it will be the 'come' command. While dangling a treat in front of the dog's nose, call out as follows: 'Snoopy, come!' Little Snoopy will quickly rush up to get his treat. Repeat the process several times, but each time move back a little further from the dog. Each time Snoopy obeys, shower him with affection and praise.

The SIT and STAY commands can be taught in the same manner. Be sure to speak in a firm manner when giving the commands. Your dog needs to learn how to differentiate the varying tones of your voice. He needs to understand when you are addressing him in a serious manner.

Don't get too carried away with treats. They are necessary tools in the early phases of training, but too many treats may cause the dog to obey your commands just because there's a treat to follow. The dog will learn that if you are obeyed, his or her reward is praise and love. Never give your dog treats outside of training sessions. This can cause confusion.

If you want to enter your dog in shows or training competitions, you should seek some professional help. Join a training clinic where you can learn all the formal requirements that go with dog shows. You can get lots of information online about this form of dog training.

Getting rid of the bad habits your pet has developed can be difficult if you don't have the training and tools you need. When you have a professional NJ dog trainer to help you get rid of bad habits and develop new habits, you will find that puppy training in NJ is affordable, fast and easy!

Many dog owners are faced with bad behavior in their dogs, and if you're dealing with dog behavioral problems, it's advisable to act as quickly if possible. If bad dog behavior is tolerated, you may end up with a bigger problem on your hands. Thankfully, there are many no-brainer ways to adjust dog behavior issues in a humane and loving way.

Dog behavioral problems can range from adorable, but annoying little problems, to full on threatening issues such as a dog attack. Though there are various causes of behavioral problems, the solutions are pretty consistent. The old saying, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks," isn't a plan you should rely on and with consistent training, you can beat dog behavior problems. Let's look at a few user-friendly dog training tips.

1. Keep it Up. This is the non-negotiable piece of advice when training any pet. You may be tempted to let them slide every once in awhile, but this will only serve to undo your efforts. Be consistent with praise as well as with corrections and your pet will begin to understand that you are indeed the pack leader.

2. A System of Reward is Non-Negotiable. While many older dog training techniques, like putting your dog's nose in their mess, may appear initially effective, they may actually produce more problems later on. Building up and praising your dog helps your dog associate good behavior with positive results, and is a very effective means of addressing even the toughest dog behavior problems.

In brief, positive reinforcement means that you reward a dog when he or she does what you are training him or her to do, and hold back the reward when they don't. Even the most stubborn pet will begin to respond to these methods, when they are applied consistently.

3. You NEED a Crate. One of the easiest ways to stop destructive behavior is to provide your dog with clear cut boundaries. Crating them while you're away, or when you just want some space is an effective and humane training aid. You may need to introduce them to the crate slowly, and allow them time to get used to being confined. Remember, be consistent and reward them for good behavior in their crate. A crate should never be used as a punishment, insted as a safe place for them to go and be at ease.

4. An additional cautionary note for you and especially your loved ones. Once the dog behavioral problems are addressed, and the corrective training has started, it is imperative everyone who deals with the dog use the same-exact training techniques. Everyone must be consistent in the handling of the dog. If not, your poor pooch will become very uncertain and may act out even more than before the positive reinforcement training was initatied.

Once you have these methods in place, you can easily begin to solve dog behavioral issues without undue stress to you or your pet. A well behaved pet is a happy pet and you'll appreciate the lack of destructive and potentially harmful dog behavioral problems.

Before obedience classes were popular, or even available, nearly every dog owner in the past relied on home dog training to get their dog to obey and perform tricks.

Dog owners really had no choice but to spend time teaching Fido at home if they wanted a well behaved dog. They had to have the patience, willpower, and desire to do so. Many people learned how to train their dogs from their parents who had owned dogs. Some read dog training books to learn how to do it.

You can either train your dog through dog obedience classes or conduct home dog training just as your ancestors did. If you are low in budget, conducting home training is a better choice.

To train a dog, you can use a mixture of consistency, praise, and treats as dogs are quite a simple creature. Give them enough of those, and they'll be doing whatever you want in no time. You can teach them to obey you and to amuse your friends by performing some cute tricks.

The most successful way to train your dog at home is to model the behavior you want from him. For example, if you want him to sit on command, then gently place him in a sitting position and say "sit" very firmly, while looking him in the eyes.

Do this over and over, until finally, just say "sit" to him and see what he does. If he sits on his own, give him a treat and lots of praise for a job well done. If he doesn't sit, then go back to modeling the sitting and the command until he learns it.

Some dogs can learn the tricks quite fast while some take a bit more time. But the good things is they will get it one day.

One very important thing about training your dog. Be sure to keep praising and giving treats for the first several times your dog does the right thing on command. After a while, just praise your dog. Your dog wants to know you are happy with him.

Who else wants their dog to be well behaved around people and other dogs? AND have them obey all of your house rules even when you're not around! Click here to discover powerful insider information at Secrets to Dog Training.

If you have pet dogs, you want to look after them at both the physical levels. Caring for your pet dogs physically will also make you feel emotionally attached to them. Physical care for your pets includes frequent exercise and feeding, grooming, and correct veterinary support when the requirement arises. Among these activities, grooming has a special significance and here are some points on the facets of grooming.

Grooming your pet dogs primarily involves bathing and brushing. The frequency of these activities would be usually decided based upon the breed of your pet dogs. If you have a dog like Chihuahua with short hair, you wouldn't need to brush it more than twice a week to get rid of loose hair.

In comparison to this, pet dogs with longer hair will need daily brushing or their coat will get matted. While you are grooming your pet dogs, you should also inspect the skin of your dogs for any other is-sues, particularly their scalp. Obviously that if you find something astray, you should take the dog to a vet. It is extremely important that you find and treat symptoms as early as possible.

It is important to understand how to sweep the dog. Always use the brush in the direction in which the coat of the dog is growing. Use grooming combs that matches with the sort of coat your dog has. There are specially designed combs. If you find tangles in the hair, work gently from the fringe of the tangle to untie. The skin around the tummy of your dog is a senitive area, so while you groom this part make sure that you do it carefully and carefully.

Give your dog a bath regulaurly though how often relies on the type of the dog. There are special dog shampoos which can be had simply from a pet supplies store. Bath your dog with such a shampoo in lukewarm water. Remember, you have to bath your dog only after brushing. After drying, take your dog for a little walk.

It is vital to clip the nails of your pet dogs.Long nails may result in foot problems. One thing to remember is that it's best to clip the nails of a pet dog when it is young because clipping the nails of a grown up dog can be difficult as it can react.

Regular grooming is a must in case you would like your pooch's coat to be all healthy and shiny. Groom your dog so that he not just looks good but feels good as well.

There are many different ways to train your dog. You can go for obedience classes, leash training, collar training, or simple home training techniques. There are a lot of options and plenty of books and DVDs available to help you out in selecting the best method for training your dog.

Which is the best dog training method? Is there one that stand out from the rest or one that is the most effective? That answer is largely subjective and depends entirely on you and your dog and your own individual personalities.

When looking for the best dog training method for you and your pet, take into consideration how much time you have to devote to training, how patient you are, and how smart your dog seems to be. All of these will make an impact on your choice of training techniques.

For instance, if you have the time in your schedule to go for obedience class, this method is usually quicker and easier. If you don't have that kind of free time, another method may work better for you.

Leash training may be best for you if you take your dog out on lots of walks and have this worked into your schedule already. Those with a lot of free time but no money for classes may opt to simply train their dogs themselves at home. It is all about your preference and style.

Another factor to consider is your dog's preferences. Some dogs are smarter than others, and will respond better to the controlled environment of an obedience class rather than simple one on one home training. These dogs may also respond well to leash or collar training, though some people claim the latter is cruel.

I believe that you do not want your dog to be hurt. Just find the best dog training method for you both, so that you can enjoy a happy co-existence together in the same home. Find the right way to train your dog, and you will find you enjoy each others' company a lot more and become close companions.

Training is a necessary side of keeping and raising a dog. However, some folks resist their dogs' training whether in the shape of formal obedience classes or at home coaching because they consider it to be a member of the family. Although this may be a popular sentiment, you must realize that you are not doing your dog any favor by withholding it from training.

Contrary to popular belief, coaching your dog will not transform into him into a robotically obedient pet following your commands mindlessly. It'll also not change him into a trifling showpiece that spends his time doing tricks in front of visitors to the house. Dog training can however ; strengthen the dogs' relationship with you while ensuring he gets as much joy out of life as he gives to you.

Irrespective of the size and breed of your dog, he needs training for sure. Without reference to the purpose for which you own a dog, you want to impart him suitable training. It's vital for your dog to know how he is supposed to behave in different eventualities.Coaching helps your dog adapt to different environments and adjust to people comfortably.

Having a dog who is well trained could mean more relaxation and happiness for you. A trained dog will not create any kind of bother. He will not tar down the furniture or eat away your shoes. A trained dog will not jump at your guests and make them nervous. Instead, it will alert you about someone's arrival and behave obediently. A dog who is trained will give you all the rationalizations to be happy instead of disturbing you constantly.

Another benefit of coaching your dog is that coaching can reserve it from several potential perils. You can't recall an untrained dog correctly, if it rambles away somewhere. It might come across any sort of danger while rambling, which might cause it major wounds or even death. On the other hand, if you correctly train your dog you need not worry about it getting lost. Moreover, you can easily protect and control your trained dog in high-pressure situations.

coaching can improve the quality of life of your dog to a great extent. Training teaches your dog how to behave in human company and the make the companionship enjoyable. Sine you and the dog enjoy one another's company, the entire experience becomes enjoyable rather than being a bother. Since your dog behaves as per your wishes, he adds to his own contentment too.

Even with time and money considerations, training a dog to be a good dog citizen always pays off in the long run. What's more, it also helps your pet live his/her life more totally as an active player in your life as well as the surroundings.

So what is the ideal dog agility jumps to begin with? Even though you can never have too many single jumps, we recommend you to start with four jumps. This is the absolute minimum number of jumps for the ideal training.

It is possible to teach your dog a wide range of exercises, skills and drills with four jumps. The four jumps will make it possible to work on short jump chute or jump grid. You can also setup a "box" with the jumps and teach collection, handling and 270 degree jumps.

It is possible to teach you dog to jump right and left. You can stand outside the box and send your dog; or handle from inside the box. You can practice serpentines and treadles by setting up the jumps in a horizontal line.

Go the next step and get eight jumps. Now you can setup two boxes with one introductory jump. You've now multiplied your drills that you can practice with your dog. Your jump grids can be of recommended size and quantity of jumps.

Another option is to setup the jumps in circles with jump bars at a 90 degree angle to the circle or on the bounds of the circle. With this pattern you can train a lot of various skills.

Now it is time to start thinking about double jumps and triple jumps. It is fine enough to setup two or three single jumps, but double and triple jumps is of much more value to the dog agility practice. It is not unusual to see a dog doing a clean course until the last triple jump; and then lose it all, because it is not ready for it.

You can really be ahead of the pack and have two sets of eight jumps. This is the ultimate in training because you can keep a jump grip up at all times that is separate from your course work, and have eight single jumps to have for course work. And when you include your double and triple, you can really practice all the jumping skills and drills necessary to get you those "Qs".

Ever since the beginning of time, dogs have been the most preferred choice as pets by most households. Many have proven that they are proficient, steadfast, smart and trainable in diverse farm duties and simple household tasks. They can be charming and submissive to their owners but vicious to total strangers. These qualities make them an ideal escort for those who are single in life as well as to couples who are just planning to start their own brood. Babies to older adults will not have a hard time adjusting to their presence.

Studies show that a dog's behavior as an adult is a result of his breeding and training. Because you can't do anything anymore about a dog's breed since it is an inherent part of his personality, you just have to make sure that he was trained well in his younger days so that you won't be experiencing any attitude problems when he is already a full grown adult. This is a big consideration to mull over when you want to get another puppy in the future. Here is a list of puppy training secrets that you must know in order to have a well-mannered pet in the future.

The first thing that you should bear in mind when training a puppy is to start low and go slow. This means that you must first establish a good rapport with your pet. Do not instantaneously start the complicated tricks that will make him want to run away with his tail between his hind legs. Create a favorable mood that will make him relax and be conducive to training. Upon reaching that ideal state, then you can already commence your training schedule. This might seem cruel but you have no alternative if you want to enforce obedience in his existence.

There are a lot of ways to do this but the most common includes putting a leash around his neck, placing him inside a kennel or positioning him in a crate. It is expected that your dog would howl in protest. At times, it may be too annoying that you would want to stuff his mouth with a ball of socks. However, remember that all this seemingly vicious acts will gain benefits. Try to be immune to this kind of suffering. Remember, you only want what's best for your dog. The end justifies the means, as they often say.

Second, teach him a simple trick followed by a nice reward. The treat could come in the form of a chicken or pork meat. As exemplified by Ivan Pavlov, the famous Russian psychologist, this method will make the dog associate good behavior with food. This will be stored in their memory for a long time if done repetitively.

Third, you can go the opposite direction and make your dog realize the power of negative conditioning. This is done by imposing the words no, stop and don't in the training process. Use a powerful voice if possible. An example would be catching him rummaging through the garbage. So the moment you see him, say stop out loud and give him a slight slap on the tail area.

Fourth, you have to follow through. Be consistent when giving commands and orders as well as their corresponding rewards or punishments. Do not flip flop when it comes to this. Your dog will get confuse if you did something once then change the rules the second time. He must realize that everything is well-established when it comes to your instructions.

Lastly, give choices. If there are tricks or tasks that he can't easily act upon like not digging the front lawn or backyard, then provide another alternative like another digging space beside the dog house yard.

Is your dog timid around people or other dogs? Is your dog sensitive to sounds? Agility training can provide the environment and structure to build confidence in your dog. Agility classes are a great place for people to learn about the sport and learn how to train, but the timid dog may take a long time before he is ready to venture from under your chair or off your lap.

A shy dog can only learn when it is inside its comfort zone. So all training must start where it feels safe, and all learning must be done in small increments. The best place for training and learning is probably the home.

So, how do you train at home? You will need guidelines and equipment. There is a multitude of websites that can give you information on agility training. There are also books and videos that will give details and visual aids and lesson plans for beginners thru expert levels.

There is a variety of equipment that is useful and helpful to have at home. Equipment recommendations are based on your available space and location of training. Do you have a large yard that will hold 10 obstacles? Do you have a small yard where you will need setup equipment and then tear down before you can setup again? Will you be training in your garage or basement, or as some agility addicts, in your living room?

The equipment has to be safe and sturdy when training a timid dog. A good place to start your agility training is a pause table. A 12" high pause table (preferable with adjustable legs) is a great starting point for dogs in all sizes. Setup the table in an area that the dog is familiar with. If your dog is the type that barks at everything new, you can leave in the house or yard for a couple of days before using it. Then the dog can inspect and smell it. Remember you need to use baby steps with an insecure dog.

Use treats or your dog's favorite toy to encourage it to get up on the table. Be patient because it may take more than one lesson. If the dog looses interest, try something new; e.g. place yourself on the table holding the dog. If it is not possible, have it on leash when you are sitting on the table. And only treat it when it comes to you. Never do it, if it is pulling away.

Later you might want the dog jumping on the table using a cue like Table, Stay on the table and Come when you are calling. Build your distance to the table slowly, so you do not push the dog to hard.

Following the above instructions, you can slowly introduce new obstacles. When it is able to succeed new pieces of equipment, you will see its confidence grow.

It can be an overwhelming experience the first time, you bring home a dog. Your new best friend will need a lot of attention and care. But you will make your life (and your dogs) much easier, if you learn to behave. And here is the right training crucial.

It looks so simple, when experienced dog trainers trains dogs. But you will probably find even the simplest methods to be difficult in practice. But before you give up, you must remember that a dog try to please its owner. So spend a lot of time with your dog. Then it will both love and obey you.

The best time to start training your dog is between the age of 3 and 16 weeks. Here the bond between it and you will take hold. So if you earn its respect as the master, the training will be easier in the future.

The pillar of good dog training is commands. But even though it looks simple, when the professional dog trainer is doing it, you might find it difficult. And the dog will probably not obey you.

It is the tone of the voice that decides if a command is a success or not. Good dog trainers do not posses special abilities to speak with animals. They do just know how dog behaves; and how the right tone of voice can make it obey. And by practicing you can learn the same.

Your command tone must be firm; but also non-threatening. You must show who is the dominating part in the relationship between you and the dog. If you not do so, you will not be able to make your dog obey. And you cannot do it by threatening or yelling at your dog. It will only make it fear you.

Instead you should praise your dog, when it is doing something right. A positive attitude is the most effective thing in dog training. A dog is able to distinguish between right and wrong; but it is not capable to understand the difference without the proper feedback from the trainer.

So by using the tone of your voice to show it, when it has done something right or wrong, you can learn it to distinguish between what is good behavior; and what is not. Again remember that the dog will try to please the owner, the dog will learn to everything it can to follow your instructions.

As a dog training beginner the voice is the first thing you have to master. When you feel comfortable with that, you can start practicing more complicated training methods.

And a final issue; the temperament and intelligence are different for all dogs. So when a method might work on one dog, it might not on another. So learn which methods that works with your dog; and stick to them.

Some dogs are not easy to train. Some people believe that such dogs are often stupid and dumb. This is not the truth. Such a dog may actually be more intelligent than others. There are many reasons why a dog may be hard to train.

Some dogs are too intelligent and dominant too. These traits make your training tasks a bit difficult sometimes. They are good in hunting and fighting from their birth time. Some of them can even guess our moods and change their actions according to our mood.

Some dogs have a high level of dominance. Once they have their attention onto something, they do not give up easily on that. So you should not stop them from doing something. They will stop when they feel like.

Dogs can not be easily stopped when they are doing things like digging up soil or chewing things. If they are hard to persuade, it show their high level of dominance and determination. You have to find new ways to persuade them.

If you are trying to get your dog to exercise and he comes upon something that interests him, you should better let him do it no matter how long it takes. Once he is done, you can continue the exercises.

The dog training sessions have to be interesting. You can get him to find hidden toys or do innovative exercises that stimulate his brain. You can do things that your dog likes the most as he responds better to interesting things.

Consider becoming a member at a local kennel club. You will be able to go to various dog shows and even find more information about dog training. Pet owners often have a lot to gain from such club memberships.

Thus you can have a well trained dog. One thing that you must not do is the use of violence to teach your dog a lesson.

After inviting Grandmother to the house, she enters. Your dog joyfully bounds up on her, causing her to lose her balance and crack her head on the wall. Careful there, Grandma!

A severe illustration? I guess. Something more likely?

You're all dressed up and ready to go for dinner at your favourite restaurant. The dog needs to pee so it's time for a quick walk. She accidentally walks through some mud on the way back to the house. Before you get a chance to wipe her paws off, she decides that it's playtime and proceeds to leap all over you, getting your pants FILTHY. Change time!! Wheee!!

A bit chancy for delicate grandma? Yup. Awkward and untimely for you? Probably. Maybe your dog jumps on people.

It's a problem that has some easy solutions.

There are simple remedies available, in this article!

ALL ABOUT ATTENTION:

Your dog is so keen to see you and be with you when you get home, she jumps up on you. The main reason that dogs jump on people is simply that they're excited to see you. If you want to break your dog of this habit (and you should) don't give her any attention when she does this.

When you give your dog positive or negative attention, you're showing him that his behaviour is OK. A few simple yet highly effective methods are available to change the way your dog acts.

TURN AWAY:

Turn your back to your dog when she gets ready to jump on you. Your pooch thinks that this is the best way to get your attention. Completely ignore her, and don't make eye contact until she settles down and stops jumping. Give her lots of praise and pettings when she stops jumping. This will help her to link the idea that she can get excellent quality attention by NOT jumping on people.

SUBSTITUTION TIME?

Alternatively, you can get your dog to do something else when he jumps up. For example, you could give him the Sit command. Remember to give him a lot of praise when he responds to the command properly. Your dog will quickly begin to understand that jumping on you is unproductive, while following your commands gets him plenty or praise, rewards, and pettings.

Although lunging at people seems merely annoying, if left unchecked it can develop into a serious dilemma in fully grown dogs, particularly around children and the elderly. Avoid an unfortunate scenario. Be aware that this can be a hazard, and take steps to train your dog properly. Then you'll be able to enjoy your dog at all times, in all situations.

2 SECRETS:

* Dogs jump up on you to express their love for you

* If you give them positive or negative attention, you're reinforcing their behaviour

2 SOLUTIONS:

* Turn away when he jumps

* Give a command: Sit, Go to your place

Remember, everyone loves a courteous dog.

You should train your dog to eat anywhere. You should train him to eat indoors, outdoors and in any room. Doing this will help you in future when you take the dog with you anywhere.

You should train the dog to settle in the crate from the time he is very young. Thus you can take him to any place and he will settle down easily in the crate. It is better if the dog goes potty on a leash. You may consider buying a flexi leash.

The dog should be trained to stay quiet when you are driving the vehicle. He should sit quietly. You can then reward him by giving him his favorite thing to eat. So he will follow your order every time and not make a lot of noise when you are driving.

The dog training sessions are useful in getting your dog to respect you and accept your orders. You can control him and not worry about your dog getting out of your control for any reason

It is highly recommended that you should not use any violence with your puppy. You can warn him by saying just "No". You can carry him to the toilet place. If he does not use the toilet sometimes, the place should be cleaned immediately.

Some dogs love chewing the furniture. The reason can be that he just likes chewing things. You can stop him from doing so. You can buy some good chewing toys that will catch the interest of your puppy and not make him feel bored.

You can also paint some objects with substances that taste foul. Such substances are available at pet stores but you should make sure that these are not toxic. You can also use the Aversion therapy.

Obedience training has to be done carefully. Do not use complex commands that will only confuse your dog. The training sessions must not be very long and boring. You should also not use force on your puppy.

Bark! Bark!! BARK!!!

The dog barked the neighbor boy right off of his bicycle last week, and they complained. Other people have complained about his barking, and it's getting hard to sleep through the night without getting woken at least once by his barking fits. GRRR! WOOF!!

Can't anything be done?

Some problem behaviors are more straightforward to deal with than others. Learning how to deal with your dog's excessive barking problem can seem difficult on several levels. It's absolutely possible to correct and deal with this type of behavior, but you have to take a few things into account. There are a lot of reasons that dogs bark, and you can't stop them from ever barking. You wouldn't want to stop your dog from barking when it's appropriate. It's important to be aware of the possible causes of excessive barking so that you can approach and correct it in the right way. There are 3 or 4 reasons that dogs will bark.

BOREDOM

Dogs that don't get enough mental or physical stimulation will sometimes bark. She gets bored, and starts to bark. Try to give her the attention and exercise that she needs. But when she does bark from boredom, don't give her attention. Positive or negative attention could well reinforce her idea that barking is the way to get her boredom ended.

TYPE OF BREED

Certain dog breeds bark more than average. Because of the job that they were bred to do, many herding dogs and hounds are like this. In spite of this, you can train her to bark a great deal less, almost a normal amount.

SEPARATION

Dogs are pack animals. Your dog may bark too much when you leave him home alone because he's separated from his pack and doesn't know how else to find you again. This can be one of the most difficult excessive barking problems to address, but it can be done when you know what is causing the problem.

There is one major pitfall to avoid. When you arrive home and he's barking, don't give him positive or negative attention. If you do, he may think that it was his barking that caused you to come back. If he's barking when you get home, ignore him, no eye contact, and turn your back. As soon as he stops barking, pet him and praise him to show him that he can get attention by NOT barking.

STRANGERS

Anytime a stranger comes near the house, dogs usually perceive them as being an intruder to the pack. It's tricky to eliminate this because strangers generally unwittingly reward barking behavior. The mailman comes, makes intruder type noises with the mail slot, the dog barks, the mailman retreats. Good Boy!

These are just a few of the reasons that dogs may bark excessively. It is an annoying problem, but it's good to keep in mind that there are times when you'll want your dog to bark. Barking can be a healthy way for your dog to express himself. He just needs to know when it's appropriate, and when it's not.

4 Causes of Barking:

* Certain breeds

* Certain breeds

* Separation

* Strangers (intruders to the pack)

Bark, Bark! Grrr!! GOOD BOY!!

Owning a dog can be great; they provide you with a lot of unconditional love and are always happy to see you when you get home. However, that can soon become stressful when your precious dog is barking and causing your neighbors problems. Barking is an everyday normal activity; however, there is a fine line between excessive barking and normal barking. A dog bark collar is a great way to help train your dog to stop his excessive baking.

A static dog bark collar is one of the two main dog bark collars out there on the market. A static collar does not have electricity in it so it will never hurt your dog or send them whimpering off into the corner. There is a little box attached to the collar that emits a vibration when your dog barks. This is activated by your dogs back and the vibration of his voice box, so there is no chance of another dog setting off your dogs barking collar.

Dogs naturally hate the smell of citronella. So the other main type of dog bark collar is a citronella collar. This collar is great if you really do not want to put a static collar on your dog. This emits a burst of citronella when your dog barks, this gets sprayed near his or her faces, and they will soon learn what happens each time they bark.

Boredom, excitement and anxiety are just some of the hundreds of reasons your dog will bark. You can easily train your dog to stop barking, that will require your time and a lot of patients. It is especially hard when your dog is only barking when you are not home. You can not really correct your dogs barking if you are not home to witness it. Thats where a dog bark collar comes in handy. It will quickly train your dog to stop barking even when you are not there to stop him or her.

Are you tired of your neighbors complaining about your dog? Chances are they are tried of complaining. Getting on with your neighbors is a must, especially if you have a barking dog that just will not stop. Many dogs are taken away from their families each and every day, all because of their barking. You can avoid this by investing in a dog barking collar that will train your dog fast to stop barking.

Having a dog is a big responsibility. You may not have realized it when you first decided to get a new puppy as a pet but they come with a lot of work. You need to house, freed, groom and care for your pet on a daily basis.

One of the most frustrating things about being a dog owner is not being able to communicate with your pet. You can't understand them and they can't understand you. This can make training your dog to understand the boundaries of you property very hard.

This is why you keep your pet on a leash at all times when they are in the backyard. Have you ever watched your pet outside chained to a post or a dog house. No matter how many times you untangle their leash it always seems to get caught up again. They don't have much room at all to run around and play like dogs do.

It would truly be a wonderful thing if you could somehow explain to your pet that they need to stay in the backyard. You could then let them roam freely. They could run and play and be happy. They could be left alone, without supervision and without any need to worry. If this sounds good to you I may have the answer to your problem.

If you are interested in being able to let your dog be truly free on your property you should consider wireless dog fences. These fences are completely invisible and will not blemish your backyard, all while teaching your dog not to run off. You can leave your dog alone, unleashed and not have to worry.

There are two different parts that go to the wireless dog fence. The transmitter sends the signal and the dog collar receives it. Whenever your pet begins to stray past the transmitters set boundaries, they will hear a warning sound. If your dog continues on that path they will get a corrective shock. There is no need to worry as this shock is mearly a warning and is not painful for the animal.

The "shock" is only to remind your dog that they have passed to far away from home. Over time your dog will learn the boundaries of your property and automatically stay within them. This is one of the easiest and most effective way to train your dog.

Puppyhood is the "formative" period for your dog. What you teach him during this time will most likely stick with him the rest of his life. One of the most important things you will be teaching him is where to potty.

We need to realize that puppies are like children in that they are needy for attention and require a routine. The best thing you can do to ease the potty-training process for your pup is to make sure that you establish the "sleep-eat-potty" routine.

There of course will be times when accidents happen-which is completely normal. There will be times when we don't always hear our pup's whimper in our sleep or are unable to let him outside at the exact moment when he needs to go. It could really help out to have a newspaper pallet on the floor. If your pup begins to potty inside, run him over to the newspaper. This is a good alternative option to use until your pup develops better bladder control.

The sooner you get to know your puppy's "eat/potty" routine, the easier potty-training will become. A good rule to go by is to estimate that your pup will be ready for a trip outside around 15 - 20 minutes after he has been fed/watered. If you can, try to have your puppy outside at this time so he will familiarize himself with the proper "potty surroundings."

It's a good idea to separate play time from potty time very early on. If you've taken him out to potty and he goes, take him straight back indoors, wait a bit, and then take him out to play. Allowing him to potty and play in the same time period can send mixed signals as to what he's supposed to do. You wouldn't want him waking you up for play time in the wee hours of the morning!

Now would be a great time to teach your puppy the praise and discipline phrases you intend to use throughout training. Many people use terms such as "good boy/girl" and "no." Just remember that while puppies require a firm hand and patience, this is also a time to enjoy your puppy while he's young and full of energy!

Many of us love the idea of a cheerful, playful puppy, but reality often checks in when we're cleaning up puppy mess. While potty training difficulty differs between dog breeds, there are a few tips that can often be applied to potty training any dog breed.

We need to realize that puppies are like children in that they are needy for attention and require a routine. The best thing you can do to ease the potty-training process for your pup is to make sure that you establish the "sleep-eat-potty" routine.

Although some people are adverse to the idea, others find that keeping a pallet of newspaper near an exit (one your puppy will soon associate with the outdoors). Although we do our best, we don't always pay attention or are in a position to let our dog outside-especially at nighttime. This is a positive alternative for your puppy to use until he develops better bladder control.

Understand that a puppy's system is like clockwork. When you feed or water him, he will be ready to potty about 15 - 20 minutes later. The key is to make sure your pup has access to the yard (or wherever you're teaching him to potty) when the time comes. Arranging your puppy's routine to match your own is the easiest way to expect when he's hungry or needs to potty.

Be sure that you separate "potty time" from "play time." Puppies love to explore. It's natural and should be encouraged, but only when it's the appropriate time. Nothing is more frustrating than to be up at 2 am with your little guy running around the yard for twenty minutes, only to potty as soon as you get back inside.

Now would be a great time to teach your puppy the praise and discipline phrases you intend to use throughout training. Many people use terms such as "good boy/girl" and "no." Just remember that while puppies require a firm hand and patience, this is also a time to enjoy your puppy while he's young and full of energy!

Do you want a dog that can sit, fetch and roll over on command? Yeah, I thought so. Well, can you spare the funds in enrolling him in a professional canine school? Yeah, I thought as much as well. Dog training can cost you a pretty dime and if you can spare it, go right ahead. However, if you cant, dont think you should make do with an untrained dog. It is a necessity to have your pet trained. Dog schools are an expense we could all do without, its alright. There are many dog training DVDs that can do the job instead.

A professional dog trainer will usually be the face on a dog training DVD. Keep in mind though that just because a dog sits when told does not mean he is an expert. The person tutoring you in the video is most likely licensed and has graduated in a veterinary school to get the required courses for his field of expertise. Use the search engines to look for reputable trainers who may have the training resources you need available.

Before you plan to get a product like this, ask yourself what it is your dog needs training for. If he is puppy or a newly adopted dog with no training whatsoever yet, then purchase a product that will teach the basic obedience commands. If there is a specific area you want to improve on, then you will need to find a site with a large collection of training materials. Look for the appropriate title you will need from their product offerings.

Where are some of the places you can go to for these DVDs? Unfortunately since there are very few, if any, video shops nowadays that offer animal training videos; the addresses you should go to are the ones the search engine lead you to. You can check Amazon.com for leads. Niche websites on canine training will have a page of product offerings that will include training materials you can flip through. There is also the option of buy and sell sites, however these are not reliable sources and should be avoided if you can.

Dog training videos are valued at around $20-$50, depending on the package (quantity of discs and literature included). There are sites that offer discounts and freebies if you order within a certain period of time. If the particular DVD you are eyeing will be much used and reused for your training needs then buy it as soon as you can. It is a worthy investment. However, if you don't really think you need the title, don't be enticed by great bargains and keep your credit card in your wallet. You may find something your pet needs more in the future.

Having a trained dog is now an affordable privilege pet owners can have. Dog training DVDs will bring you advice and tips of experts you otherwise can't afford. Even with the rising cost of prices all around, you can very well afford to bring Fido to the best trainers in the world anytime-- all you need is to press rewind.

How many chewed up shoes do you have in your closet? Do you constantly have to spot check your home for little souvenirs your dog might have left over for you to clean? Thats not a lot of fun now is it? If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired with your dogs manners then maybe its time to get some dog training in to his life.

There are a number of pet owners who want to train their own pets. Unfortunately, due to lack of know-how and time, they dont get around doing much about this. If this is you, do not fret; in home dog training is an excellent alternative way to watch your dogs progress in the privacy in your own home. Sounds good? Well, before you call up that dog trainer, there are a few things you might want to ask first.

What is the level of obedience of your canine? If you have attempted dog training and have had some success in doing so; consider doing it yourself. There is no better person to teach your dog but you. However, if you have correctly assessed your incapacity as an effective trainer, then by all means have a professional trainer over as soon as you are able.

Where can I look for the excellent trainers? The good trainers are known by the dogs they have handled. Ask your family, friends, or neighbors if they have had experience with these professionals. Search through the internet and yellow pages for the services of a company or individual that comes highly recommended by canine organizations or blogs and forums. Inquire on their fees and set an appointment with one that seems to give you the best value for your dollars.

What are the qualities of a good trainer? The most important of all is his manner of teaching and handling the dog. There should be no kicking, yelling, rough handling at all in his part. You are putting your pet in his hands so it is your right to ask for records and referrals he should have which you can check for yourself. While no official government licenses are available for animal training are available; veterinary/animal schools give certification to graduates who have taken the necessary courses to be professional trainers. The International Association of Canine Professional offer CDT and CDTA certification, if your trainer has this then chances are he is well equipped to teach canines.

Which should I choose: individual or group classes? Individual classes are always advisable because your pet gets the complete focus of the teacher. However, group classes are a good alternative also because your dog will get to develop his social skills as he interacts with others of his own kind. It will also be easier on the pocket to share the trainer's rates and other fees. Make sure that the group of dogs your pet is included in are healthy and vaccinated.

When should training begin? Right away! Ideally, training puppies should begin as early as 8 weeks old. However, you can always teach an old dog new tricks. If you are prepared, your dog is in attendance, and you have a competent trainer, then sky's the limit! Through in home dog training, you can have a trained dog the safe and convinient way.

There is nothing worse that rushing to get dressed for the office and finding your good pair of shoes all chewed up. Unless of course, its coming home to find pee puddles and poop hills all around your living room. And when was the last time you had friends over without them being attacked or slobbered by your unruly pet? If you have had it with doggie nightmares, then maybe its time to call in the experts in dog training.

Owners who want to personally train their dogs but cannot do so for whatever reason, are beginning to appreciate the mighty services of trainers who are hired to teach your pet. These professionals (either individuals or company connected) train your dogs for you while you sit back and watch the progress from the comfort of your very own home. Yes, in home dog training is the answer but what are the questions? Here are the five important things you need to ask before launching into the world of canine home education.

What is the level of obedience of your canine? If you have attempted dog training and have had some success in doing so; consider doing it yourself. There is no better person to teach your dog but you. However, if you have correctly assessed your incapacity as an effective trainer, then by all means have a professional trainer over as soon as you are able.

Where are all the good trainers? The best trainers are those whose work speak for itself. Talk to your friends and neighbors who have used a professional's services in training their pet. If they don't know anybody, they should know somebody who comes highly recommended. Check the yellow pages or surf through the internet for companies or individuals that offer the training your dog needs (basic obedience training or specific behavior modification). Research on their rates and find one that gives you the best value for your money.

It will also be easier on the pocket to share the trainer's rates and other fees. Make sure that the group of dogs your pet is included in are healthy and vaccinated.

When should the training commence? As soon as possible! It is best to train puppies while they are still 8 weeks old. However, with patience and perseverance, even dogs can learn obedience commands at any age. If you are ready and your dog is present then anything is possible. Through in home dog training, a well trained dog is not only possible, it is expected.

Having those indoor puppy accidents should not get in the way of one of the greatest pleasures in life this is why housebreaking your puppies is a great way to start training. I think one of the great pleasures in life, is owning a pet, especially a dog. I love all animals, shapes and sizes, but when it comes to dogs, they are in a league of their own.

One of the top ways to start in housebreaking puppies is crate training. This is a method of training where you put your dog inside a crate when you are out for the day. This will not only prevent puppy accidents inside, but it will also keep your place clean and tidy while you are out.

When done right, crate training is not only great in housebreaking puppies, but it training them to behave as well. And when done right, it is quite effective, however, it must be done right and done consistently otherwise it will not work.

You have to learn the proper ways to crate train your puppy, otherwise you may make it scared of the crate, and this will have the opposite effect that you want on it.

As soon as it has negative feelings towards the crate, it will not want to go inside, and you will not be able to use it again. It always has to be a good experience for the puppy, positive feelings always leads to a happy puppy, and a happy puppy always learns things quickly.
