Puppy training should be started as soon as puppy comes home. Immediately showing your new puppy that his potty is outside is crucial in beginning the process of potty training. The process will not likely be fast, but the efforts and your patience will be well worth it.
An actual potty spot should be chosen to be puppy's potty. In order to make the potty area more attractive in your yard, you can place potted plants or flowers around where your puppy goes to poop and pee. This will also probably help the dog to remember and easily recognize the location of his potty.
Teaching the command "outside" is very important. You should say this command loudly to your puppy whenever he pees or poops inside. Then you will have to pick him up and run outside with him to make him finish going potty in his puppy training area. Then you will praise him for actually going on the potty.
Puppy training on command will eventually be the result of your time and effort. Your command word must be maintained at all times. Inform friends and other family members of this word too.
Be sure to let anyone who will be walking or watching your dog to use the exact same command word. Always give praise, and let the other people in his life know that they should do the same.
Keeping a diary if when your puppy eats, sleeps and potties can help you decide when the most average times are that he will need to poop or pee.
Again, potty training your puppy requires determination and patience. The more consistent and calm you are, the more likely your puppy will be to finish his potty training quicker.
By maintaining consistency, tempered with equal parts firmness and love, you will have succeeded at potty and puppy training before you know it. Your puppy will respond well to your firmness and love. He will endeavor to please you by learning to potty sooner. Then you will have puppy training success.
Puppy Training can have its challenges however if you start off right when puppy first comes home you will have you best chance of success. Housebreaking dogs can be a chore I understand that, however, once you know a very simple trick, you will have wondered why you didn't see it before. There are many simple and easy tricks you can follow, however, this one is so simple, you will have wondered why you didn't think of it before.
Routine, a dog is an animal of routines. Without them, this poor animal is lost, and confused, and does not know what to do. You as the alpha dog, must create a routine to show your dog the way.
When housebreaking dogs, feeding time is the single most crucial time for your dog. All it takes is feeding them at the wrong time, and you will make it harder to housebreak your dog. You would be surprised at how often a dog is fed at the wrong time, and usually ends up in a lot of messes to clean up, and it baffles people why it happens.
Did you know that the most common feeding times for your dog is first thing in the morning? I am not too sure why people do this though. This is the single worst time to feed a dog. Why? Because by the time it has finished eating, you will most likely have to leave for work, and you will not have had time to take your dog on a proper walk. Even a well trained dog can only hold it for so long.
When you first get up, you take your dog for its walk, it does its business, and you reward it with a small treat. You take it back home, make sure its water dish is full up, and you get ready for work. Give it a very small amount of food, this is just to tide it over until the REAL feeding time.
Now, just before you head out to work, take it outside for a very quick bathroom break, just a few minutes to relieve itself. Take it back inside, and head off to work. Please check to make sure your dog has a full bowl of clean water before you go.
You are probably already guessing it this time, and I am sure you are right. You get home, you take your dog out for a quick pee. And after you make your supper, feed your dog its meal. This is the best time to feed your dog the amount of food it is supposed to have. After your meal, you play around with it for awhile, and then take it for its walk. You dog just ate, and playing will allow the food to move quicker through its digestive system. Once you get outside, it is going to want to go potty in no time.
Now do you understand why this is such a simple trick? It is all because you fed it when you had time to take it out. You didn't starve it, you had given it a treat, and a very small amount of food in the morning. But it got its real meal when you ate your supper, this gives you time to take it for a full blown walk so it can do its business without being rushed. This is why the simplest trick you can do, is to have the right meal time.

Generally, dogs are very clean animals - they won't soil close to where they eat, or where they sleep. But living in a house is unnatural for an animal whose instincts would be to roam wherever she wants to go, so you will have to help her learn where and when she can relieve herself.
The sooner you can train your dog or puppy proper potty expectations the better. Trying to break the habit of a dog is quite difficult and it can be very frustrating. You need to use guidance and encouragement to help the pet. Animal experts all have some great ideas that can help you house train your dog.
As we talked about, a dog is really sanitary. If a dog does soil accidentally in the wrong place, to him, it is going to be far away from where he eats. This is true for the place where the dog sleeps as well. But, unless you find a good place for her to go and train her in that manner, the rest of your house is okay to them.
The process for housebreaking a dog is the same if he is a puppy or an adult dog new to your home. You'll need to take him outside every few hours and also 30 minutes after he eats. Take your pet to the designated bathroom spot. Stay with the pet until she goes, and then praise her when she does. If she does not go, bring her back inside and try again in fifteen minutes. Watch her though. If the dog starts sniffing and circling take them out right away as this is a sign that she is about to go. Pay attention to her signs and take her out. Soon, she will relate to going outside to going to the bathroom.
Some dogs are housebroken much faster than others. Some dogs personality will cause her to go one way or the other. But, if you take her outside at the right time, it will go smoother. A puppy of less than four months old will need to go out during the night. Older puppies can hold it that long. A dog that cries to be let out has an urgent need. Get up and take her out, she needs every chance to succeed that she can get. Positive reinforcement is necessary for success.
How you treat accidents will affect your dogs overall learning curve. If you catch your dog going in the act, distract her with a clap or call her name. Take her outside calmly at that time and praise her for finishing outside. Clean up any accident that you find on the floor. If the dog approaches during this time, ignore her. Don't talk to or punish her at this point. The worst thing that you can do is to yell at her or physically punish her. This will cause her to fear you and to not bond as well to you. She wont connect it to the accident at all. Ignoring her is the best course of action here.

Getting a new puppy? I'll bet you are so excited. I'm not going to break your excitement, but I will tell you that once you get your puppy home he will push your patience further than you thought it could go. One of the first, and most difficult, tasks is to teach your dog to go outside to potty. This takes patience and effort on your part.
If you are trying to potty train your puppy too soon, you'll probably realize it. You will not have much luck until the puppy is around 2 months old. An important consideration in training your puppy is that you need to establish a routine that will help teach the puppy when it is time to go outside and potty.
Determine how often you think your puppy needs to go out. Establish a time range like every 30 minutes or every 45 minutes. Then stick to your schedule to train your puppy. As they grow older, the time between potty outings can grow farther apart. It's also a good idea to take the dog out before a meal so that you are not interrupted for a potty break during your meal.
Establishing a training routine and sticking to it will help you train your puppy more quickly. It's hard to accomplish without a schedule. The sooner you establish a training schedule with your puppy, the better you will feel about your puppy and the more at ease the puppy will become.
If you think working on a routine takes potty training your dog too far, reconsider. Establishing a routine is a proven way to train your dog and it is pretty simple to establish a regular routine. Your dog will learn more easily when following a routine.
Puppies that refuse to potty outside can be especially perplexing. Try to figure out why they refuse to go outside. Try taking them to a different place in the yard. With a little effort you will get your puppy potty trained and can move on to other puppy training adventures.

Potty train your puppy in a matter of weeks. Puppies are adorable animals that make great pets. They are affectionate, playful, and make great companions. When we bring home a new puppy, we are bringing a new family into our lives. He will be with us for years and share the joys and laughter of life. Take care of your puppy.
A puppy will love you as much as you love him. But there are those little things that you can do without. A new puppy will not come potty trained, just like a baby. You will have to train him. Little puppies have weaker bladder control, just like human babies. Be patient. And just like babies, puppies do not know that urinating inside the house is not okay. You will have to teach him.
A young puppy will have less bladder control than older adult dogs. So try to have some patience. It will not be learned overnight. Potty training involves habits and routines. Start by having it stick with regular sleeping and waking up schedule. When it sleeps at the same time and wakes up at the same time every day, it develops a routine.
When your puppy starts to urinate inside of the house, tell him, "No!" Tell him firmly, but never yell. Yelling at the puppy will make him feel bad and resent you. You do not want your puppy to be scared of you. You want him to feel the same love and affection you towards him.
Be observant of your puppy. Watch for things like sniffing around. If he starts to stop whatever it is that he is doing and begins to sniff around, watch out! That is a sign that he is looking for a place to do his deed. Whenever he starts doing this, tell him to stop and carefully lift him outside. Let him finish his business outside.
The whole potty training process should take approximately two to three weeks. If your puppy has not mastered the routine, consult with your veterinarian or obedience instructor for any help.
During the progress, when your puppy begins to go outside to do his business, it is important that you acknowledge it. Praise him. He will know when you are proud of him. Give him a treat to let him know that you are pleased. You will get further with positive responding than strict and harsh scolding. Severe punishment will only make your puppy scared of you and see you as a mean person.

Are you like most people who wish that as soon as they brought their puppy home they know "their responsibilities" without you have to worry about it? Well house training a puppy is not that difficult however it is our responsibility as owners to take the necessary steps to begin. People fail to realize that it can be a great experience for both you and the puppy that you are training.
House training a puppy begins by you letting them know what you expect of them. They will never be able to respect you and behave the way that you want them to until you let them know what you expect.
One of the first things that you need to do as soon as you get your puppy indoors is to let them know that they are not allowed to urinate or do anything else on the floor. This is one of the main reasons that you should take them outside before placing them in the house.
Place them in the yard or garden and let them know that this is their spot. They will eventually be able to associate this spot with the area that they can do their bodily functions. As they grow older they will be able to let you know they need to come to their spot.
One of the best things that you can do to help house training a puppy a lot quicker is to stand there with her and let them know how happy you are as soon as they finish. In fact you will want to continue taking them to the same exact spot everyday until they understand what it is you expect of them. Keep repeating the process everyday until they go to the spot by themselves.
If you notice that they had an accident in the house you want to refrain from punishing them. It is easy to clean up the mess with some cleaning supplies that will take away the smell. Ensure that you clean up their mess very good otherwise you may find them using that same spot again.
When it comes to having to punish your puppy; ensure that you do not overdo it. You have to remember that house training a puppy is going to take time and effort on both of your parts. As long as you remain dedicated to teaching them what you expect of them they will learn what you want them to do.
Stop by and visit our site below to discover some great house training tips that you can use to help them pick up those habits you want them to learn. You do not have to have a difficult time training your new best friend after all they want to do everything that they can do to please you.

Crate training your puppy can be very beneficial to you and your puppy. Many people mistake the crate as being a place to punish the puppy, when actually this is the safest spot for the puppy to go once the puppy gets used to it.
Most puppies love to spend time in crates, but you should not let the puppy spend countless hours in the crate as he will also need to get out around the house to play and go outside to potty. The crate is the place for the puppy when he is confused or scared.
As you are teaching your puppy to get used to his crate, you have to make sure that you do not let him out if he is barking or going crazy. Wait until the puppy calms down before you let him out. Before you know it your puppy will greatly appreciate the crate.
So if you are planning on buying or getting a puppy, you should have already invested in a crate. This is to assure that the puppy knows exactly where it is when you first introduce the puppy into your home. The best places to place your crate are anywhere there is not heavy traffic, such as right in front of a bathroom.
Now that you have the puppy home for the first time you should have the door to the crate open. You want the puppy to familiarize himself with the crate as soon as possible, it can also help to put puppy toys or even a dog treat to lure the puppy inside. Make sure you reward the puppy when it enters the crate for the first time.
Before you know it your puppy will start to go into the crate on their own, this is a sign that they have a great amount of trust for the crate. When this happens you should praise the puppy and reward it as it is almost completely crate trained.
The next step is getting the puppy used to the crate when the door is closed. This is the final step to crate train your puppy, and you should not let the puppy out if they start to whine, which they will in most cases. The puppy must be completely calm before you let the puppy out of the crate.
When your puppy is fully crate trained there are many uses for the crate. If you are planning on having family or guests over, or if you plan on leaving the house for a couple of hours you can put the puppy in the crate. If the puppy is fully crate trained he will not have a problem laying around in the crate until you open the door.

Are you loving your dog only until he plants another bomb in your immaculate living room carpet? It seems that your home can benefit greatly from some potty training dogs tips. Here are some simple techniques that will keep you and your pet's love fest undisturbed in a few short weeks.
Hearing the obligatory chores in house training dogs is enough to make the best of us cringe. Some don't even bother to make an effort. As a result, many dogs have never learned the basics on toilet training. It may be easier to teach puppies good habits, but adult dogs can still learn to do their business outside properly.
It will be helpful to know that it is easier to train older canines to do than to don't. What this means is that if he is not taught how to go out to eliminate; you will find it almost impossible to undo this learned behavior. You will need to teach him a new habit. In this scenario, it is going outdoors to do his business.
Find a suitable spot outside your house to use for his toilet needs. Bring him out for a walk fifteen minutes after he finishes eating. Walk around the designated spot saying 'go potty' or 'get pooping' whatever word or phrase you want him to associate with the activity. Repeat it until he finally does and praise him profusely right after. This will let him know that this particular code word is a signal to eliminate. Do this for a few weeks using the same pattern you have started out with. In house training dogs, patience and consistency are fundamental.
When accidents do happen in the midst of your training plan, don't throw in the towel just yet. Potty training sometimes takes a while. If you see the poop but not the dog, do not look for the culprit and start yelling. He will not understand why you are getting mad. If you catch him in the middle of the crime, startle him and bring him quickly outside to finish. Reward him with a treat and praises right after. Be extra attentive to your pet post meal to avoid future accidents.
When the accidents do happen inside your home, make sure you clean up the mess thoroughly with a deodorizing antibacterial solution immediately. This will get rid of stains and more importantly, any smell it will leave behind. The principle in potty training dogs is that they will return to their spot to do it again and they will find it by sniffing the place out. Make the canine's cage as small as comfortably small as possible to avoid more accidents to occur indoors.
Do not bring food and water to your pet two hours before sleeping or else you might find yourself sleepily leading him out at night for toilet breaks. Take him out to walk early morning or right after he finishes nap time. When you have successfully accomplished training him to go potty outdoors, ensure that going outside is accessible and convenient for him. An open back door will encourage him to continue his newly found talent in discharging outside.
Potty training dogs is every responsible pet owner's priority. This will keep your dog disciplined and mentally stimulated- a good preparation for other obedience tasks. More than that, your home will welcome the change and thank you for it.

Everyone loves a doe-eyed golden-haired puppy, who doesn't? You bring them home and everyone is vying for the most puppy time. Then after a few weeks when you need to house train the little guy you look around and nobody is there. Yes, it's time for the less than popular puppy potty training.
This special time will also be the beginning of many unique bonding moments you will share with your furry friend. Sure, potty training can sometimes be inconvenient, but it is small change compared to years of cleaning up the surprises your dog will leave in the future. Here are some puppy training tips to help you and your home stay poop free.
Understand that the young puppy has limitations that are not his fault. One of them is the inability of controlling bodily wastes well for long periods of time. There will be a couple of nights wherein you will need to wake up twice to bring him out to his toilet spot. This may be a little irritating but do not rush the puppy to go when he is not ready yet. What is important is setting of good habits he will carry as he grows older.
Have a schedule for their meal times daily and do not vary from it as much as possible. His body needs to be accustomed to a certain pattern of eating and eliminating. Take him outdoors to discharge early in the morning and late at night. After meals, bring him to his designated potty place to do his business. Keep repeating a phrase the puppy will associate with toilet activities like 'go potty' until he does.
After he finishes eliminating on the right spot and with the right phrase, lavish him with praise. Let the puppy know how pleased you are and that he is the best dog in the whole world. Do the same thing again in an hour just in case another round is in order. Remember, right now the most important aspect of puppy potty training is the establishing of good habits.
Good. Now the puppy knows that going outside is what he needs to do when he wants to discharge. Now it is time to teach him how to ask permission to go out. You will need a rope, a bell and a bag of patience for this. Attach the bell at the end of the rope and hang it by the door. When you take him out for toilet activities, nudge the bell and say go potty out loud. Do this for around two weeks; at the end of this time, go to the door with him after meal times and say go potty and refrain from jingling the bell. If the puppy touches the bell praise him enthusiastically. If not, guide him to push the bell as you say go potty.
Repeat this process every single time the puppy uses his toilet privileges. Your dog will catch on and understand this as his signal to want to go out. Before long, he will know enough to tap the bell or door by himself whenever he needs to unload.
That wasn't too hard was it? When done correctly and consistently, these puppy training tips should have a well-mannered dog to show for itself. Now on to the next puppy adventure!

Sure, we all love our dogs. The indoor poop and the pee spots are unfortunate incidents that happen to come with the package. Wouldn't it be great though to not have to deal with cleaning up his mess anymore? With your patience and these tips on potty training dogs, it can be done.
Hearing the obligatory chores in house training dogs is enough to make the best of us cringe. Some don't even bother to make an effort. As a result, many dogs have never learned the basics on toilet training. It may be easier to teach puppies good habits, but adult dogs can still learn to do their business outside properly.
If you plan to teach your dog to not do something anymore, good luck. You won't encounter much success. Instead, you should unseat the wrong behavior in his daily activities by substituting it with a new pattern. In this case, its learning to go outside for eliminating.
Find a spot outdoors specifically for his toilet needs. Fifteen minutes after he finishes eating, bring him to the designated area and wait for him to discharge the recently concluded meal. Use one phrase he will associate with this activity like, 'go potty' or 'get pooping' and repeat it until he actually does it. Praise him profusely right after so he will understand that phrase as a signal that its time to eliminate. Repeat this process for a few weeks and use the same spot every time. You will need consistency in house training dogs.
Accidents are still bound to happen. If you catch your dog in the middle of potty while still indoors, stop him suddenly then bring him outside quickly to finish. Praise him and give him a treat after he finishes his business outside successfully. If you find the evidence but didn't catch him actually doing it, don't reprimand your dog. He will not understand what you are yelling at him for and it will confuse him. Be extra vigilant to your pet after meals to ensure this does not happen.
When it happens, immediately clean up the accidents as thoroughly as possible. A deodorizing solution should be applied to remove any residual smell the poop might leave behind. Dogs will sniff out the area and use it again for the same purposes. Keep their cages as small as comfortably possible to aid in potty training dogs. Animals do not relish sleeping in the toilet area so they will restrain eliminating until you can get them outside.
