There are few companies like Innotek that have been in the dog training tools market with such presence. Perhaps their training collar is the one that has made the brand as popular as it is now. The Innotek Dog Training Collar has been designed to help you train your dog easily. It makes dog training simple and easy. The way it works is by giving a small shock to your dog in order to change its behavior. The shock is harmless and it will eventually not be needed as your dog recognizes and obeys your commands.
The Innotek dog training collar is available in the market and to make quick purchases, you can order online. It is vital for you to know how to use the Innotek dog training collar because this is the key to making the most out of it. First, you need to know that it can only work when the dog understands the command he or she is given. For example, if you want the dog to sit or stand you will need to say it and make sure that the dog knows the expectation. For dogs that have not been fully domesticated or trained, it is not a good idea to apply this collar without some lessons.
Using the Training Collar
The Innotek Dog Training Collar will have receivers built into the system. Fitted with it are stimulation-delivering prongs. These prongs will be found around the neck or throat area. It will all depend on how you choose to fit the Innotek dog training collar.
The collar comes with a transmitter, which you will use to stimulate your dog. Whenever your dog disobeys a command, you will use the transmitter to activate the collar. For instance, let's say that your dog knows the "come" command but it ignores you. The purpose of the stimulus is to make your pet associate it with the lack of obedience. This command can be give to a distance of up to 300 yards.
In Conclusion
An Innotek dog training collar is definitely a good way to make sure that your dog learns and obeys all commands. This is an insight into how the shock collar works and the best way to use it. It reveals the details of what goes into making this collar.

People love their dogs, but unfortunately, their neighbors don't love their barking as much. The Innotek Bark Collar can help stop barking at inappropriate hours, like in the middle of the night.
Innotek is a company that produces dog collars, that are appropriate for any dog. There are collars for small dogs, medium dogs, or large dogs. There are two basic types of collars, and both of them come in every size. The most popular one is the one that has sound detectors on it and can sense the vibrations that your dog makes when it barks, and then delivers a small static shock.
Using their own patented system, some Innotek bark collars are able to recognize the best level of discouragement (by way of a tiny static shock) for your dog. The collar has seven levels of discharge and, when first used, will deliver the lowest level of shock and gradually increase until the barking stops. At this point the collar will automatically set itself so that all future shocks are at the level below the last one delivered. Other Innotek bark collars give owners a wider range of levels to choose from.
The use of the collar should be restricted to only around thirty minutes a day, and even so, only at time when barking is inconvenient, such as when people sleep, otherwise, not being allowed to bark can stress your dog.
Another type of Innotek bark collar uses a spray to confuse the dog and stop the barking that way. Although the collars that deliver a tiny static shock are perfectly harmless, some owners prefer not to use them. The collars that produce a spray (usually a lemon/citrus smell) instead of a static shock work in the same way except the spray confuses the dog and stops the barking by encouraging the dog's curiosity about where the smell came from.
Every Innotek bark collar comes with a small set of instructions in the package that will let you know how to properly use the collar in a safe way that will eliminate excessive or aggressive barking.
Summary: This is just a brief explanation of Innotek collars. It talks a bit about the different types of Innotek collars available. In general, no matter which type you get, you'll get results.

It must have happened to you while walking on the beach or the local park. There jumping on and off the walking path is a puppy in the throes of life. You know that such a dog is full of wonder at every little butterfly that flutters. Its non-stop tail movement is evidence that it is truly happy to meet each and every non-threatening stranger.
The high pitched yip yip yip repeated stops you in your tracks and like everyone else in the park, you turn to see what has happened to the joyful puppy. But your turn isn't quite finished before you hear the deeper growl of another dog. Instinctively, you wish the puppy well and hope that the situation can be brought under control. You might even move towards the fracas in an effort to help calm the situation down.
There are a myriad of reasons for what we call bad behavior on the part of canines. Inbreeding, bad upbringing, chronic damage such as poor dental health. Any of these can be contributing factors as to why a dog would suddenly go off in a public area.
I heard an interesting tale as I was stroking the hair of my neighbor's half wolf puppy.
About 12 months ago, he had gone inside the house after tying his puppy to the tail of his pickup truck. He estimated it had about 15 feet of slack on its leash. He claims he was only inside about 10 minutes before he heard a shout and the snarl of a pit bull. He ran to his front door and saw this scene.
A pitbull was running full out at high speed with its owner running behind holding an empty leash. The pit bull crossed his front lawn in the blink of an eye and was airborne before anyone could as much as move a few feet. His own puppy backed up against the vehicle and waited silent and expectantly for the rushing pit Bull.
This all happened at high speed, but when the Pit Bull leaps high for his dog's throat with uncanny speed, his dog was eerily not there anymore. It was airborne and above the pit bull. As the pit bull landed and simultaneously twisted, my neighbor's half wolf clamped its jaws on the Pit Bulls neck and held it motionless while the pit Bull shook itself viciously backwards and forwards.
A very low wolf like growl emitted from my neighbors dog. For a moment the pitBull went slack and the half wolf tossed it about 2 meters.
I am told that the angry pit bull didn't have 3 feet properly on the ground before it promptly launched itself yet again at the half puppy. This time meaning to surprise it. However, everyone was surprised when the puppy itself met the pit Bull midway and without ado simply snapped its neck. There was a kind of silence that one hears when everyone is holding their breath.
The whole thing couldn't have taken more than 5 seconds, both owners were shocked and stupefied. The half wolf puppy backed away from the still body of the pitBull and sank down as its eyes looked around at the by then growing audience.
I don't wish any animal ill, but we were later told that that pit bull was already under probation for having attacked a child the year before. In Ontario, a dog can be put down for that behavior but apparently this happened weeks before some law was passed and the witnesses had differing stories so the pit bull was in its owners care while the case was being decided.
Nature does what nature does, and its sometimes sad when its your dog that has been put down, even though you know it may have been its fault but still...

After you finish work, you normally arrive home very tired and a bit irritated. The second your dog sees you, he comes at you and greets you with his best moves. However, if your dog gets too excited, it can start barking uncontrollably. Has this ever happened to you? It might be frustrating trying to train your dog not to bark so much when he's just being happy to see you; in these cases, the BC 200 automatic no bark collar is a good solution.
There's More To Training Than Love
Dogs have been with humans for centuries and for several good reasons; they are friendly, warm, useful, practical, and they are also the best companions ever. Nevertheless, once our furry friends start barking in moments where we need peace and quiet, or when we want to sleep, it can be very irritating. There are times that you can't even understand why your dog is barking in the first place. If this is your case, then the BC200 collar is just what you need.
Why Innotek's BC-200?
The BC-200 follows the success of its predecessors by adding new features while retaining popular features from past models. Innotek's automatic rechargeable no bark collar has been PetSafe approved, so you shouldn't worry about the collar being harmful to your dog. It's light to carry, comfortable to wear, wear resistant, and it has no external settings that the dog can accidentally change or activate. You don't have to worry about your dog wearing the no bark collar during rain or snow, since it is designed to be water proof. Even in bad weather, the collar will only work when your dog barks. Using modern technology, this collar has been designed in a smaller size than previous models, making it easier to wear. Now, the BC200 uses a rechargeable NiMH battery, so your dog can wear the collar for longer. However, the best thing about the collar is that it really works.
The BC 200 is one of Innotek's best products. It's been Pet Safe approved for safety and humane treatment. Give it a try and your family and neighbors will thank you.

You might be searching for a cage for your new or existing parrot, it can be quite a large decision to make. I am going to help you make this a bit easier by giving you a number of things to consider.
Parrots are very long lived and will be with you for many years so they need to be kept happy, comfortable and relaxed.
The most important rule when looking for a new cage is to go for the largest one you can afford.
Parrots require a lot of space so a cage that is too small is a big problem!
Parrots require lots of stimulation and are very intelligent. Your parrot needs to come out of his cage on a daily basis to play with you or by himself. An area where the parrot can play such as an open top cage is ideal. You can use this for training sessions, rewarding or just general play with your parrot.
Parrot cages need to be very spacious so that whichever parrot cage you choose it needs to provide your parrot with plenty of space and comfort.
It is important that your parrot cage is durable as those powerful beaks can do a lot of damage. Make sure that your cage is parrot proof and designed to last a lifetime rather than a few years.
It is best to position the cage in an active room to help keep your parrot stimulated and happy. The parrot cage should be placed away from areas of high traffic (next to doorways), direct sunshine and draughts as these can stress him out.
Parrots can feel more secure with a wall behind them so a corner of a room can be a good place. Corner cages take up less space than a conventional cage and can provide your parrot with lots of comfort and space that will keep him happy.
Please remember your parrots cage is his home. It is important that he comes out of the cage regularly to interact with you but it is also important that he can also go back to his cage for some personal space if need be.
Remember these important points and you will have a happy, healthy parrot for years to come.

Vets use to prescribe Prozac (antidepressant) for dogs that seem depressed, even though the real solution is pain relief for dogs. Studies show that the pain of arthritis or other chronic conditions causes depression in people. According to the web site of one of the best health facilities Mayo Clinic "Chronic pain is stressful and depressing in itself". It is widely accepted in the medical community that pain can cause depression in human being. The same will go for dogs.
Using diagnosis generally vets cannot predict whether your dog is depressed because of pain or by some other factor. The symptoms of pain in dogs can be misinterpreted as depression. If your dog becomes reluctant to play or take walks, that is not necessarily depression. It could very well be pain. Don't decide automatically that your dog is depressed and that a good run will get make him or her feel happier. If your dog is in pain because of a knee problem, a good run is the last thing he or she needs.
It's useful to look at the signs of depression in human beings and consider them in terms of your dog's behavior. Many of the signs for human beings are irrelevant to dog, of course, dogs can't cry, think about suicide, have feelings of uselessness, or have trouble concentrating.
Certain symptoms of depression in people are relevant to dogs. Studies show that people may be depressed if they are irritable and get angry quickly. Depressed people may also be very tired or very restless and they usually lose interest in activities they used to enjoy. It's important to know that these are all symptoms of pain in dogs. Pain relief for dogs may very well be needed in these cases, not antidepressants.
If your dog have these symptoms, don't just assume that he or she is depressed. Some people are too quick to jump to the assumption, that the dog is depressed because changes have occurred in their dogs' behavior. It could just be a coincidence. If your son just went off to college, your dog probably does miss him. However, if your dog is always in rest or loses interest in walks, you shouldn't automatically think that he or she is depressed. Perhaps your dog has a physical problem and particularly it would be pain.
Many problem will raise if you give your dog Prozac rather than pain killer that provide pain relief for dogs . Firstly, we all want our dogs to live without pain. Secondly, antidepressants typically have side effects like weight gain. If your dog has arthritis, you don't want him or her to gain weight because that puts more stress on dog joints. Thirdly, a mistaken diagnosis of depression in your dog may delay treatment that could save his or her life, especially if the problem is bone cancer. It's best to check out whether you dog is in pain before assuming he or she is depressed.

If you have a dog that barks more than what you or your neighbors can take, then you should consider getting a bark control collar. Bark control collars come in several models, and selecting the one most appropriate for your dog depends on various factors
Why So Much Barking?
Before using a bark control dog collar, you should figure out why your dog is barking. Some dogs bark out of fear, aggression, or loneliness. If your dog is barking because of one of these, then the bark control collar isn't the answer. These things can be dealt with other ways, like proper training and attention. But for dogs that bark just because they are bored, the bark control collar can help them break the barking habit
Choosing A Bark Control Collar
There are three main types of bark control collars for you to choose from. There are even some bark control collars that combine two of these types.
The citronella collar emits a strong citronella (citrus) smell when the dog barks. Dogs don't like this smell, and, over time, the dog will avoid having the smell around them. Some citronella collars will also give a warning "hiss" sound so that the dog can learn to stop barking sooner.
Then there are the collars that emit small shocks when the dog barks. The shock is very mild, much like the one we get when handling fabric, but it really catches the dog's attention. In addition, these collars usually turn off by themselves after some time in order to avoid unnecessary stress.
Finally, there is the sonic or ultrasonic sound, which emits a high pitched sound that only dogs can hear. The sound is emitted when the dog barks so that dogs will stop in order to make the sound go away.
One benefit of a bark control collar is that the dog will be trained even when the owner is not around. It's specially useful if you are away at work or asleep at night.
If the reason your dog barks is because it's sick, hungry, or lonely, then don't use a control collar. bark control dog collars should be used only on dogs that bark as a bad habit. You can find collars that use citrus spray, sonic sounds, or electrical shock.

For the most part dogs are enthusiastic to do what their owners want and try their best to please when it comes to receiving a reward for doing so. These are dog tendencies that need to be used when it comes time to teach them tricks. It makes sense to take advantage of their natural predilections. By building on these natural 'dog' attributes and behaviors in combination with rewards to develop pet tricks, the operation becomes easier than trying to teach a trick from square one.
Watch what your dog does for his own amusement. Does he spring into the air pursuing butterflies? Does he like to lay on his back with his feet in the air? If some kind of instinctive behavior can be fostered into an enjoyable trick, that will quicken the training process. Be ready to use a fitting hand motion and verbal command when this behavior is demonstrated and then follow with an instantaneous reward.
For most dogs there are dietary requirements that you'll need to pay mind to, and bearing that in mind you shouldn't actually give your dog an excessive amount of treats. Treats are a great way to get started, but later on the hand signals and some praise will suffice. When you get everything down pat, you can decrease the amount of treats or stop giving them period.
For the most part dogs learn very fast and they'll understand that a treat waits for them so long as they perform the trick when you give the command. Sometimes you might have to improvise, so for example after you teach them "down" you might from that position teach them "play dead", and you'll have to get the dog to associate the new command with the additional trick. After a bit of training you can use other commands such as "stay", "come", and even "sit" and add on tricks from those starting points.
Another way to get your dog's undivided attention when working on some tricks is to utilize a favorite toy. Using a tug toy or a ball your dog likes to play with, just out of his reach, rapidly move it up and down coaxing him to jump at the same time giving him the "jump" vocal command. After repeating until he relates the command and hand motion with the act of jumping, dispose of the toy and just utilize your hand and the vocal command.
Your dog's ability to smell is a huge factor in the training. One thing that you can do is play a little game with your dog that involves hiding a favorite toy or treat and then having them find it. You can start out by putting the toy in a close location so that it's easy for them to find the object, and when they become more adept at that you can hide it farther away so that they have to work for it. After a while you will be able to use this as a viable trick to entertain your dog as well as any guests that you might have.
Having your dog give you a high five is also great, and the good news is it's not a hard trick for a dog to pull off. The majority of dogs will just hand you their paw as soon as you show them your hand, but for those that don't there might be a little more work involved. You may need to teach them several times, and make sure you give them a treat every time they do it properly so that they know there's an actual reason to do it for you!
Quite often the dog will present you his paw at once. With some dogs you will have to help them get the idea by elevating their paw whilst using the verbal command. Bear in mind the need to praise even if you have to elevate his paw into position, then lower the paw back down and repeat.
After a trick has been taught it's simple to augment it. "Give me five" can without difficulty be expanded into "sit up" by slowly elevating the paw so that the other foot will spontaneously raise up. By then holding both feet so that the dog is in a "sit up" position, vocalizing the command and rewarding with praise or a treat, he will, with repetition, connect the dots.
Training a dog can be fun, and it has a few other benefits as well. By training your dog and spending time with him or her you will create a strong bond. You and your dog will become very close and you both will be a lot happier!

There are many things to consider when you are starting a Koi pond project. It's easy to see why so many people forget to pay attention to the plumbing aspect of the project. This is a mistake I hope you won't make. A lot of headaches can be avoided if you pay proper attention to the pipe and valve layout of your project before you get started.
Lay out a schematic of all the piping and valves you plan to use. Mark the type and size of each length of pipe and valve. Identify and lengths of pipe that will be underground and whether there will be any sections under pressure. This will depend on the type of pond you are building and the equipment and accessories you will use.
There are always many questions about the type of piping and valves to use. When comes to piping there both flexible piping and rigid plastic piping. The flexible piping is very versatile but it can't handle the various valves and other equipment you will probably want to have in your system. I would avoid this type and only consider using it when rigid piping just can't be used.
Rigid plastic pipe is always the best choice for any Koi pond. It will look the best and give the best long term, durable installation. Make sure you use the size pipe for the job at hand. For example, don't use a 1 in. pipe for the floor drain in a gravity-fed system and them be surprised when it won't work as you anticipated. It's too small. You need at least a 4 in. pipe for this kind a drain.
Do a "dry run" of the system. Layout each section and valve combination. Remember once you have glued the connections they won't come apart unless you cut them and start over. Mark the location of all the pieces for later assembly.
Make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper installation of all equipment. You would be surprise how many people think they have a better way to do it. Also use plenty of valves before and after various components so they can be isolated and/or removed for repair and maintenance.
The alternative is to cut the piping to remove them - a very expensive and time consuming approach. Always use a slide or ball valve before the filtration system so it can be isolated from the pond for maintenance and cleaning.
These simple steps should make your Koi pond project go a lot faster with better results and less money out of your pocket. Follow these tips and you are on your way to a successful Koi pond project.

Dog Pain with injured Paw Pads
Doctor and the dog owner who are treating their dog with paw pad injury are often not giving pain killer to the dog. This is unacceptable because this paw injury cause severe pain to the dog.
If you had injury in foot you know the pain caused by the paw injury. The paw pad holds the mass of the entire dog body, when the paw pad injured the body weight put pressure on the injury which causes severe pain. If you got any cut on you foot and you walk with that injury you feel severe pain. Like this dog also feel severe pain.
Doctor always focuses on your dog injury and not on the pain caused by the injury. They clean the injured place and if necessary he gives the dog antibiotics and a tetanus shot. Doctor prescribe special collar to prevent the dog from licking or biting the injured paw pad. Just think why your dog lick the injured area it's because of pain. Give pain killer to your dog, if you don't want your dog to suffer from pain.
Paw pad injuries can occur in many situations. In an urban area, broken glass is a problem and even if you try to watch out for it, you may not see tiny glass splinters that can injure your dog's paw pad. Ice on the sidewalk can be sharp enough to cut your dog's paw pads. The salt that melts ices on sidewalks and streets in urban and suburban areas can also damage paw pads. Some pet stores have even started to sell snow boots for dogs. However, one doesn't see a lot of dogs walking around in boots. That may be because of the expense of the boots or the hassle of putting boots on dogs.
Dogs can injure their paw pads out in rural areas, of course. In addition to the problems caused by ice, snow, and glass, running on rocky terrain can cause injury to the paw pads of country dogs. Owners of hunting dogs in rocky areas should be cautious about injuries to paw pads. It's a good idea to do some conditioning with short runs at first on the rocky areas to toughen up the dog's paw pads.
For hunting and working dogs good paw pads are very important. This paw pads give good traction when these dogs run in the fields. There is some confusion in the mind of dog owner whether the long nail in the leg give good traction to dog as they ran. But the long nail may cause injury to bones and ligaments. . Thus, owners of hunting dogs need to take care of their paw pads by not running them too long on rocky areas.
When dogs' paw pads are injured, they need the care of a vet as soon as possible or things will inevitably get worse. There is a great chance for infection of injured paws. Dog owners should insist that their doctor to provide pain relief for dogs with injured paws.

I remember growing up in the country. Everyone around us owned a dog, and there wasn't much traffic to worry about. There was a lot of space between homes and plenty of fields and woods for roaming. That's why you could see your neighbors' dogs all around the area over the course of the day. A lot of the dogs seemed more like they belonged to the neighborhood than to any one person, but they all knew where to go for dinner and bedtime. When I started driving at age sixteen, I even picked up my dog about a mile away from home. It was obvious that she'd had a great day running through the woods and getting into trouble, but she was also pretty tired and happy to see me.
While I look back on those days fondly, those days are long gone. More and more people are particular about other people's animals on their property and the damage that those dogs can do. A roaming dog may not understand leash laws, clean up rules, or fences, but people do. Irresponsible pet owners have made problems for everyone. This is why most communities have legislation, or at least a local understanding, that your dog needs to stay on your property. Even though I have those happy memories, I'll admit this isn't all a bad thing.
There are a lot of options out there to help you keep your dog in the yard, including traditional fencing and leashing when your pet is outside. An outdoor pen or a cable or dog run can also be a possible option. Each one has its own pluses and minuses. One relatively new method for keeping dogs contained is use of radio frequencies to establish a boundary for your pet. These are also called invisible fences or wireless fences.
Let's take a quick look at some of the benefits and drawbacks to these methods.
Traditional fencing - These are very effective against dogs that don't clime or dig, but if the gate is accidentally left open, they become ineffective. This option is also relatively costly in most cases, and limited to back yards only.
Cable Tethering and Outdoor Pens - Very restrictive to your dog, and with the possibility of causing injury to the dog if the cable gets tangled, both of these methods are relatively cheap, but dogs in them tend to stick to one spot. This happens even with long cables and large pens. Using these methods extensively can really stress your dog out, and may result in behavioral problems.
Wireless Animal Fencing - This relatively basic technology will help you train your dog and teach him or her where the boundary is. It also provides some encouragement for your pet to stay in the yard.
We all know how the traditional methods work, so let's take a look at the newest one and how it functions. Here are some common questions about wireless fencing.
Why Wireless Dog Fences?
There are lots of reasons that you might decide to go with this option for pet containment. In some parts of the country, you may not be allowed to have a traditional fence because of decisions made by your neighborhood association. Even in areas that do allow traditional and chain link fences, wireless fences may be a useful option for pet owners. It's not possible for dogs that are contained using this method to dig under or jump over the wireless fence. Front yard access can be given, and there are no gates to leave open.
The way this technology works is that a radio transmitter is installed inside the house. The dog is wearing a collar that that knows when it is within the user set boundary. When the collar senses it is about to leave the "safe" area it gives a warning tone and then an electric stimulus if the dog doesn't choose to move back towards the radio transmitter. With proper training, the dog quickly learns his boundaries and decides that he doesn't want to receive the electric stimulus. It's that simple. Naturally, with any electronic device, there are a myriad of options and features that can be had, but the basic concept remains the same.
People ask a number of questions when they first find out about this type of technology. The first one is whether or not it actually works, and the answer is yes. Ninety nine percent of cases report success.
The next question is whether or not using electric shocks to encourage staying within boundaries is cruel. The answer, for most people, is no. The stimulus must be unpleasant to work, and a dog that has been trained properly will receive this shock only a few times over the course of his or her entire life. Most of them happen during the first week of training. A handful of negative experiences will teach your dog to stay where he or she should and will help avoid the possibility of death or serious injury from a car. Your dog won't have to feel like he or she is in prison, unlike with a pen or cable.
If you already have a regular fence, you may wonder if you need this technology. You might not, but there are a number of reasons you may want to have it anyway. If you dog always stays in the yard and is unlikely to leave if a gate is left open, you may not need this type of deterrent. However, many dogs feel like a regular fence is a puzzle they need to solve. They learn how to dig, chew, or push through a traditional fence. I've even owned a dog that could break welded wired fencing and pull apart chain link fences. When a storm was approaching, he could even climb some fences! If a traditional fence offers successful containment for your pet, you may still want to get some of the benefits that wireless fences can offer, such as access to the front yard and a deterrent to running through open gates.
There are many things to consider when deciding to own a pet, and one of the most important is how you will be able to contain him safely in your yard. It is no longer a choice just to open the door and let him run. Responsible pet ownership requires more today than in the past, as it should.

If you see your cat slurping water from the bathroom sink or out of the toilet, don't get angry with her. She simply is showing you how much she appreciates fresh, cool water. Perhaps you are the naughty one, not providing enough fresh water for her on a daily basis. Your cat's nutrition and cat water availability have a key role in her general health.
You want to be sure your cat's nutritional requirements are met and cat water is often left out of this equation. You check the cat food labels, making sure meat protein is the first thing on the list - not all corn or soy meal. But are you as concerned with how much water your cat drinks each day?
To be sure, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and taurine are vital to your cat's health, but don't be satisfied that you've provided her a sound nutritional framework with just cat food. The one ingredient that doesn't have to be listed in the ingredients label is the most important one of all. Water.
Think about it. You can live for years with insufficient calcium in your diet before showing any clinical signs of calcium deficiency. Try going without water for a few days and you are in big trouble.
Your Cat's Health and Cat Water Intake
Your cat's body can't process all those vitamins and amino acids just by swallowing a cup of cat chow. Water acts as a solvent and help dissolve these chemicals in order for your cat to benefit. Nutrients can't be digested and brought into the cells...Waste can't get transported out of the body...Your cat's temperature can't be controlled because the heat his body generates isn't dissipated...His organs start to fail.
When your cat doesn't drink enough water his body attempts to conserve what fluids it has in it already. He doesn't urinate or eliminate stool. His body is dying while trying to conserve his water resources.
Feline urinary tract problems, cat bladder stones and kidney problems are often linked to poor water intake. So nutrition and cat water are very much linked together.
How Much Water?
The domesticated cat lineage goes way back and originate in the African desert. Their body adapted to the dry, arid climate. That doesn't mean a cat needs less water than a dog. Individual water requirements depend on factors like: Activity level, age, environmental conditions and air temperature.
The rule of thumb is to estimate one milliliter of water for every food calorie consumed. For an adult cat, this means about 250 - 350 ml each day or 9 - 12 fluid ounces.
Depending on your cats diet, he may get a portion of this daily requirement from canned cat food. Canned cat food typically contains 78% water. A 6 ounce can of cat food might provide 130 ml of water. So if you cat eats canned cat food, he requires less supplemental water. However, dry food contains much less water so your cat's water intake should be more.

A very good question!
I would have to say YES you definitely need to train your Parrot whether you have a Budgie or a Blue and Gold Macaw.
All parrots are highly intelligent, social creatures that require lots of stimulation in both the wild and in captivity. In their natural environment parrots spend most of their life learning. Young birds learn from their parents and will pick up new behaviours quickly. From how to find food to recognising a predator all young parrots have to learn to interact with others of their own species.
In captivity, parrots still have that natural instinct and desire to learn either from their parents or in the case of most captive birds " their owners.
What if I don't train my parrot?
Well quite simply this is often how unwanted or problem behaviours develop. A parrot that is deprived of attention is going to try to get some whenever it gets the opportunity. Any reaction from their owner is a positive experience to the parrot and will encourage the parrot to repeat the behaviour. So when your parrot starts screaming like crazy late at night it is trying to prompt a reaction from you. If you start screaming (and often swearing!) back then your parrot will be very pleased, as he has managed to get you to respond. This unwanted screaming will then increase over time as the parrot has been rewarded for doing it.
The owners of parrots are the usual cause of behavioural problems. Your parrot can be accidentally rewarded without you realising it.
Parrot behaviour will be positively or negatively affected by everything that you do while you are close to your parrot. When you react to something your parrot has done then that behaviour will either decrease or increase over time.
An example would be if your parrot is in a bad mood and you try to take him out of his cage to give him a treat. Most likely he will be reluctant to come and may back away from you or even show a sign of aggression to tell you he wants to stay put. You give up but give him his treat anyway so therefore reward him for either being aggressive or backing away from you. In the future this behaviour is likely to increase as a result of this.
When you are with your parrot you really need to think about everything you do.
A happy and healthy parrot needs a ongoing training schedule. Try to make sure that you are rewarding the things you want him to do and try to avoid rewarding those things you don't want.
Your relationship with your parrot will be taken to a whole new level when your parrot understands what YOU want from him.

It's important to do a bit of research before getting an anti bark collar for your dog. What types of dog collars are there? How can you choose the right one? Are they necessary for all barking dogs?
Options in anti bark collars
There are three main types of anti barking collars: citrus spray, sonic collars, and electrical collars. However, regardless of the method that the anti barking collar uses, they're completely harmless to your pet.
A spray collar works by spraying the muzzle of the dog when it starts to bark, creating an annoying sensation. This is very uncomfortable for dogs, since they greatly dislike the smell of citrus. Very often, collars of this type will hiss before releasing the citrus spray, so that they eventually learn to stop the barking before the spraying.
Next, we have the sound based dog collars. The principle of these collars is that they emit a sound that is not detectable by the human ear, but it is detected by dogs. Eventually, the dog learns to link the sound to the barking and that by stopping the latter, he can stop the former.
Lastly, anti bark dog collars that are electrical give out small, harmless shocks to the dog's neck whenever it barks. The shock is very mild, comparable to the one you'd get if you walked on a thick carpet. It isn't painful at all, but it is surprising and it really calls your attention.
What Else to Consider?
Some collars are designed with more than one anti barking method. They might, for example, release a citrus smell while emitting a sound when the dog barks.
Other collars have a way of adjusting their intensity. For example, you can adjust how loud the sound is or the intensity of the shock. You can increase them if lower levels aren't good enough to stop the barking. In any case, the dog will associate the barking with the negative sensation. Eventually, the dog will stop the bad behavior on its own, given enough time.
It's always a good idea to know what options you have before buying an anti bark collar. They come in three varieties: spray collars, sonic collars and electrical collars. Regardless of their method, anti bark collars are harmless and effective.

The Border Terrier is a medium sized terrier breed that originally came from the region between Scotland and England. This dog came from the line of Scottish terriers primarily the Dandie Dinmont and Bedlington terriers. Currently, the Border Terrier is a favorite companion of many people that it ranked 10th in UK kennel registrations and 81st in the American Kennel Club.
The name Border Terrier is derived from the fact that it was discovered living in the communities along the Scottish borders. This breed has existed for many centuries but it was only in 1920 that the Kennel Club recognized it as an official breed. Before, however, the Border Terrier would only fall under the "Any Other Variety" category.
What differentiates this breed from other terriers is its otter-shaped head which is a broad skull and a short, strong muzzle. Its ears are V-shaped and hang towards the cheeks. Its tail is naturally fairly short, thick at the base and tapers at the end.
Its body is lean and narrow and is covered with short, dense coat. The average height of this dog is between 13 to 26 inches at the withers. The weight is 13 to 15.5 pounds for the male and 11.5 to 14 for the female.
The Border Terrier has a double coat that is soft underneath and coarse, stringy and weather resistant at the top. This rough-looking coat sheds twice a year and thus needs hand stripping during these seasons so as to remove dead hair and allow the coat to grow back unobstructed. The common coat colors for this breed are blue and tan, red, wheaten, and grizzle and tan.
This dog may look rough but it is actually amiable and gets along well with other dogs and animals. It is not aggressive and is not wary of strangers. The Border Terrier is highly intelligent and even tempered but sometimes it is confrontational and stubborn, too.
When it comes to task training, the Border terrier performs excellently and it can jump up to amazing heights and even run fast given that it has short legs. When it comes to agility, this dog is quick to learn and outperforms other breeds outstandingly. However, when it comes to learning tricks, this dog is less trainable.
The Border Terrier is originally a hunter and so it has great stamina and energy that needs to be taken care of with daily exercise such as long walks. This dog is also sensitive to pain and so owners should watch for this dog's health. An apartment living is sufficient for this dog's space needs because it is not overly active inside the house.

Looking for reasons to grab your dog and perform some quality Doga? Well, there's certainly no shortage of reasons; Doga, like yoga provides a variety of advantages and benefits to both the human and canine participant. From physical benefits to toxic cleansing, Doga provides those who participate with a wide range of benefits that other workout and meditation routines fail to do.
Here's something you may not know about Doga; Doga can greatly aid in increasing flexibility for not only you but for your dog too! When correctly performing Doga and traditional Yoga poses your body enters into positions that it rarely finds itself in. Because of such, joints and muscles that are infrequently used are exercised and acted upon resulting in increased strength and greater flexibility in these joints that are infrequently used.
Here's something you may not about Doga; when Doga positions are properly performed the lubrication to the joints, tendons and ligaments in your body and your dog's body is increased. Because Doga positions cause both your body and your dogs body to enter into positions that are unfamiliar, joints, tendons and ligaments which have infrequent use are forced to be lubricated thus causing increased fluidity and reduced joint pain.
Did you know that with Doga, bodies that are very rigid often become very smooth and flexible even when not all parts of the body are intentionally exercised or stretched? This is the case for both you and your dog. Many dogs experience joint problems as they increase in age, Doga can aid in the prevention or treatment of your dog's joint problems.
Here's a reason to grab your dog and do some doga; both humans and dogs who introduce doga poses to their regular schedule often find that their sleep patterns are improved. Doga poses lend themselves to the improvement of meditation and relaxation. These principles can be introduced to a sleeping cycle creating better patterns of sleep.
Here's a reason to grab your dog and do some doga; introducing a doga routine to your regular schedule can aid in sexual activity. Doga poses along with the meditation and relaxation suggested when properly performing the poses can lead to better sexual control, endurance and satisfaction in the bedroom.
Here's something you may not know about Doga; Doga can assist in the reduction of hypertension. Hypertension, commonly referred to as "high blood pressure," heightens your chances of heart disease, stroke or many other serious medical issues. Incorporating a Doga routine into your life can help to prevent hypertension and the problems it can cause.
Here's a reason to grab your dog and do some doga; the poses found in a doga routine have been correlated with the improvement of memory. As individuals adjust their bodies to properly perform the Doga positions blood circulation is improved. With improved blood circulation, more blood is reaching the brain resulting in improved focus which then can result in improved memory.

One contagious respiratory infection is known as kennel cough. Kennel cough is also known as tracheobronchitis, canine infectious tracheobronchitis, Bordetella, and Bordetellosis.
This highly contagious respiratory infection can easily spread to dogs that are confined together in a kennel. This is how this condition became known as kennel cough.
This respiratory infection can be contracted in ways other than confinement in a kennel with an infected dog. Kennel cough can be spread between dogs through contact with contaminated ground or toys that had been in contact with a dog with kennel cough.
This respiratory infection causes a hacking cough and can cause the dog to gag, sneeze, or vomit. Kennel cough may cause snorting and fever.
A veterinarian is likely to question the dog owner about any history of being in a kennel or around dogs with respiratory symptoms when diagnosing kennel cough. Some diagnostic tests, like blood tests or a bacteria culture, may be used to confirm the diagnosis of kennel cough.
The condition often goes away on its own. Kennel cough typically lasts ten to twenty days. In some cases the kennel cough may be prolonged or be recurrent. Severe cases of kennel cough can lead to pneumonia.
Antibiotics may be given to treat kennel cough. Sometimes, a cough suppressant is also given. The best prevention of kennel cough is a vaccination that is normally given as part of a puppys vaccines.
Preventing the disease is done by limiting contact of dogs with infected dogs. A kennel should require proof that the dog has been vaccinated for kennel cough. If a cage or toys were used by a dog with kennel cough, the items need to be thoroughly disinfected.
There is some debate if kennel cough poses any risk to humans. In the past, human risk was dismissed as not possible, but some evidence suggests that young children and people with compromised immune systems could contract tracheobronchitis.

A dog is not naturally stubborn, but he definitely does not understand what he needs to do. That is the reason why it is necessary for the owner to establish that he is the alpha in the house. This enforcement of proper behavior can be done by being firm and patient. And that can be seen when trying to enforce the command of 'come'.
It's in their nature for dogs to probe their surroundings. They will smell anything and everything, dig up, turn things over, and snatch little items. When doing a teaching session diminish any distractions by trying to be as far away from other people, aninmals, and voices as practical. It's a good idea to use an area that is clear of obstructions or a room without small objects on the floor.
Be sure to take full advantage of any spontaneous behavior you see. For instance when you observe the dog coming toward you, give a voice command along with a hand gesture to reinforce this behavior. Try to use a word and signal that you don't normally use during your training sessions.
Put the dog in a sitting position facing you. Reinforce the command of 'stay' as you move away. Use hand gestures and voice commands. Praise the dog if the behavior is correct. Do not reward the dog for an incorrect or partial response.
Keep repeating this, as you move back. If your dog comes towards you too quickly, use 'sit/stay' commands again. If the dog does not move try coaxing with treats or toys.
Reluctant or slow learners might need collar training or leash training. Put the dog in the sit and stay position. Start moving away, letting the leash go slack. If the dog does not obey you, tug the leash gently with the appropriate hand and voice command.
For a dog that comes too early, use a long rope or leash and wrap it around a stake or a tree. If the dog starts to respond too early pull the cord as you vocalize the "stay" command. If there are no trees available, use a friend to help with the session. The detrimental part about using someone else during the session is the dog can become confused about who they should listen to. It's always best if they just focus on one person.
Consistence as well as patience is necessary during training sessions. Human induced commands like sit, stay and come are not naturally understood by dogs. Yelling at the dog when it makes errors or does not obey your orders is quite a counterproductive exercise. You have to establish your alpha status by your body posture, a firm voice, and your patience while you wait for it to obey you. Physical leading and restraint is not such a helpful technique.
Many dog breeds are quite willing to be trained, and respond very positively to quick praise, for proper and correct behavior. If necessary, you have to show that you are the stubborn one waiting for them to 'come', instead of your going to them.

Rabbits can live anywhere between 12-18 years, so it really pays to do your research before you commit to adopting a rabbit. Rabbits require exercise, human interaction, training and attention on a daily basis. Rabbits are social animals and really thrive in an environment where they are interacting with your family.
Young children and rabbits are usually not a very good mix. As rabbits are fragile, young ones usually do not know how to handle the rabbit gently. Rabbits can easily suffer from stress and the loud unpredictable nature of children can cause your bunny to have a heart attack.
Older kids do really benefit from the responsibility of owing a pet, they know how to care and understand easily how to handle your rabbit. Parents beware though, often children lose interest and the parents do get lumped with the rabbits care. Younger children really do not know how to handle the rabbit with care, so rabbits are traditionally for older children.
Making sure that you are well informed about what to except when raising your rabbit, is the best way to avoid any problems later down the track. There is a lot involved when you own a rabbit, but knowing what to expect will ensure that your rabbit is well behaved and a great addition to any family.
Rabbits can show aggression and can be quite misbehaved. Doing your research about the breeders and the parents of the bunny can show you what he or she is likely to be like when they are older. Well behaved rabbits are wonderful additions to any family. To ensure a well behaved rabbit, investing in a good rabbit care guide will ensure that you have all the correct information to raise your rabbit correctly. A correctly behaved rabbit is a wonderful addition to any family.

The Puggle dog unbelievably rose to fame since its inception 20 years ago that today it is regarded as the most famous of the hybrids. This hybrid resulted from the crossing of a female beagle and a male pug during the 1980's when the US started on developing a new breed of dogs. The Puggle was the particular result of experimentations of Wallace Havens of Wisconsin, USA.
The Puggle is famous as a lap dog and many famous people such as Uma Thurman and Julianne Moore are known to own one. Countless of articles pertaining to the Puggle are also said to have contributed to the fame of this hybrid. Finally in 2000, Wallace Haven began commercially breeding the Puggle.
At a glance, the Puggle can be likened to an English Mastiff only several times smaller because both hold similarities in appearance and behavior. These two, except for size, have almost the same broad snout, short coat and dangling ears. For the Puggle, however, there is no set standard for its appearance and behavior because each can have differing traits depending on what and how much it inherited from the parent breeds.
The general weight for this dog is 15 to 30 pounds and the height is between 10 to 15 inches at the shoulders. There are Puggles that have larger and distinct heads while there are some that have thinner and smaller heads. Most Puggles have the tail of the Beagle but curls up like the Pug; some have inherited the underbite of the Pug and some have not.
The body of the Puggle may be described as stocky and muscled with a coat that's short and smooth; the forehead is wrinkled and the legs are short. Common coat colors of the Puggle are fawn, white, black, and multicolored such as a combination of brown and black. This coat also sheds heavily that's why this dog is not suited with people who have allergies to dog hair and dander.
Because this dog is a heavy shedder, daily brushing with a fur-removing brush is helpful as well as regular baths. Its eyes discharge quite frequently and so its facial wrinkles and under eyes should be wiped clean regularly using a warm washcloth. The nails of this dog also grow quite quickly therefore regular clipping is necessary together with ear cleaning and tooth brushing.
The Puggle is a highly energetic dog and it has an independent spirit and a curious sense of smell. One of its critical needs is daily exercise in the form of walking, running, or playing in a well-spaced yard or in the park. Like the Beagle, the Puggle also loves to dig and howl and like the Pug, it likes to wander off on a mission to follow a distinct smell.
The Puggles are widely known to be highly sociable creatures that love meeting and interacting with new dog breeds and animals. They are very affectionate towards humans and they love to have some attention from the family and new people especially little children. These dogs have a great desire for closeness that they like to lick, snuggle and bond with humans.

The jaw muscles of a dog are some of the strongest muscles in the animal kingdom. The Golden retriever, which is just average sized can strip and tear apart a thick Rawhide bone in just a couple of minutes. And that is why it is a pity that they can treat furniture the same way.
Different breeds will have different tendencies to chew and that is why owners need to know their own breed's behavior patterns. However, mostly all dogs will chew on objects in and about the house. This is why it is important to focus their attention on objects intended for them. Still, making the dog do this can be very difficult.
Puppies and younger dogs definitely do not discriminate between whatever they chew. However, owners can train dogs in such a manner that they do not chew on objects which Owners want them to keep away from.
This can be done by making sure that an object that might cause temptation is put away from the dog's reach. That is also why dogs should not gain easy access to laundry and items like shoes to chew upon. Another good idea is to keep the dog's toys away from children's toys.
One can also keep a large number of attractive toys at different locations, both indoors and outdoors, which can be chewed by the dog. Some of these items may include hard rubber, plastic bones, and rawhide bones according to the breed one has. It is not suggested to give a real bone like a chicken bone to a dog, because it might splinter and cause internal injuries.
Nevertheless, there are plenty of toys made especially for dogs and some of them have treats in hollow interiors. A dog needs to work really hard to get to the treat and not only is it going to have a good physical and mental workout, but it is going to get a treat reward at the end of the activity.
One can also admonished the dog firmly especially when it decides to chew upon unsuitable objects. However, yelling or sharp physical punishment is not desirable. So instead of yelling at one's dog, one needs to vent that anger and frustration somewhere else. That is not easily done, but has to be followed, for a harmonious relationship between the pet and the master.
The development of specific habits can be done by leashing the dog. Then an unsuitable object has to be placed near the dog. The moment, the dog approaches it, the leash should be jerked sideways, and No said very firmly.
Remember that the leash always has to be jerked sideways, instead of the neck being yanked back. The muscles of the neck are strong, but the throat can be bruised easily. The jerking movement is not a punishment, but reinforcement.
A dog may have the tendency of chewing objects found outside like fences, chairs, plants and other items. Such behavior can be contained by coating homemade mixtures like cayenne pepper, upon the surfaces which the dog likes to chew. Some commercial products also have bitter apple, which discourages the dog from chewing any surface.
Successful dog training can only be done with consistency, patience and a lot of persistence. The idea behind stopping chewing is not to start a new behavior pattern, but to "suppress" a natural behavior pattern.
Often, redirecting the dog to acceptable objects is the best bet since it is impossible to eliminate the dog's instincts. That is why it is necessary to be calm and vigilant. Keep your cool even when the dog chews on the new carpet. Objects can be replaced. A good relationship with a pet cannot.

Magnets are used as an alternative treatment for pain. Magnetic dog collars are an option for the treatment of dog pain. People who use magnets themselves often claim to have received benefits from the use of magnets, so the theory is that magnets will also help dogs.
Many alternative treatments for pets start as treatment for people. Aromatherapy, acupuncture, herbal remedies, and massage are alternative treatments used for dogs because they show benefits for people.
Magnetic dog collars are made in many different styles and sizes. Some magnetic dog collars are thick, leather collars with embedded magnets. Other magnetic dog collars are made of nylon or other material.
Used mostly for arthritis and joint pain, magnets are thought to have anti-inflammatory abilities. Many people believe that magnets have detoxifying power and can improve circulation. The use of magnets to treat medical conditions is sometimes referred to as magnotherapy.
Some magnetic dog collar retailers claim that magnetic dog collars repel fleas. Since reviews from customers are on the websites that sell magnetic pet products, the reviews may be biased and only positive reviews are shown. Therefore, it is difficult to judge what dog owners experiences have been with magnetic dog collars.
Some dog owners have asked other dog owners if the magnetic dog collars work. Many dog owners recommended the use of chondroitin and glucosamine instead of a magnetic dog collar. Dog owners may want to ask the veterinarian for an opinion on the effectiveness of magnetic dog collars.
Other pet products have been designed to use magnets for the treatment of dog pain. Dog beds that contain magnets are sold. Some dog pads containing magnets are designed to be placed under the dogs regular dog bed. Magnetic dog vests are similar to dog sweaters, but they contain magnets.
These products can be found on the websites of Internet retailers that specialize in magnet pet products. Some websites that sell magnetic dog collars claim that the magnets of the collar do not interfere with the micro-chipping of pets.

When Judy's fourteen year old cat passed away, she was faced with a decision: Should her beloved pet be brought to a vet for disposal, or buried in her own backyard?
Judy isn't sure what the right thing is to do, or how to move forward, but she can't just throw her beloved pet away like trash. That would be wrong because it doesn't honor her companion's spirit. What choices does a cat-lover have?
Check with your city or township administration whether there are any laws regarding pet burials. Some communities forbid home burials of any animals, pets or not.
If you are uncomfortable with legal restrictions imposed by the town, talk to your vet. Find out if the laws are enforced. What are the consequences for ignoring restrictions? Sadness over the loss of your pet is no excuse for breaking the law or endangering your neighbors sanitation.
Your vet may offer to take on the task of disposing of the cat. Some people are better off letting somebody else they trust take care of deceased pet. You'll never know how the feline body was discarded. The Vet will be very discreet about it. Just don't ask.
If you are a no-nonsense person, just find a space in your yard and bury the kitty there. As long as nobody complains, it's your yard and you have a right to use it the way you like. If you decide to do this, make sure to mark the site and avoid digging there or planting anything for at least 5 years.
If it feels right, you may want to make the grave site attractive with a stone and pretty plantings. One could make a plaque or wooden sign to commemorate the pet by name and, like a human gravesite, it will be a comforting place to remember the beloved cat and take pleasure in happy memories.
Some practical tips: be sure to dig a hole at least two feet deep, and keep larger animals out of the yard who might be tempted to dig. That would not be pleasant for you. Dogs like terriers are particularly bad about this, as are raccoons. Overall, gather information and investigate all the options, and you'll be most pleased with your choice.

We are at and interesting time in our modern society, where the business and commercial worlds are in a state of flux, and we are paying more attention to our inner selves and state of mind than in times before. Within this realm is the relationship to animals that we humans have created, and how they link us to our inner selves. Animal Care and the relationship of animal communication is a fascinating subject
Animals have been our transport, our food, our clothing, our protectors and our companions. They have been in our lives from day dot, as something humans have lived alongside on this earth. But in the modern world animals roles have changed. In the modern world the stress of living on a human, both physically, emotionally and spiritually has quadrupled in the past fifty year. So why are more people turning to animals and the care of animals to find there sense of self.
We have new activities, new sports, new past times, new jobs for animals but basically the gift of just being with them is the most important. The unconditional love and unity that is missing in our modern world is often fulfilled by the relationship we share with our pets. We often spend more time in the present moment with our animals than we do with the humans in our lives'. Because somewhere we know it is good for us. Do our relationships with animals mean more; feel more because of this fact.
Could a peaceful trusting relaxed relationship with an animal have an effect on our inner self, our ability to be still. Is there more depth of communication and more healing in these relationship than we once believed. Do animal relationships mirrors or shape our human relationships? On page four of most of our daily papers is an emotionally charged article of the touching stories of animals in our lives. And in 2009 it could be quite accepted to use an animal therapist to help care, clean, heal, balance and communicate with. We have as many animal therapies as we do human.
Why is it so modernly accepted, because on one level we are forced to speed up to survive and exist, yet on another level we are forced to find ways to slow down to survive and exist. Each have equal merit, yet innately it is often our animals which are showing us the ways and actions to be present. The best animal care and human care is the ability to be present and in the now moment connected with your animal. A walk in a sunny field with your dog, or a ride on a horse down a speckled path, or a soft rub of fur on our legs, and we can become mindless or thoughtless in seconds. We are reminded of the language of feelings we are born with and animal communication can help re-discover this language.
So how does animal communication promote good animal care and why is this so important for us at this time. When Matisse the artist, was asked how he kept his sense of creativity in times of trouble, he replied that he spent ten minutes a day sitting in his artichoke patch. The ten minutes a day was his savior as he was present with himself and his thoughts. The observation of the growing leaves aided his creativity in his art as he had peace of mind. So we all need to find our artichoke patch, and often it is the animals in our daily lives that lead us to our patch.
If animals are the vehicles for humans to find peace of mind and the ability to be in the present moment then we owe it to them to provide the best animal care we can. If their job in the 21st century is to remind us how to heal, how to find happiness, how to be present then this is why so many student of animal communication remark that it is a light bulb moment. A synthesizing of understanding, a reminder of how to find your own artichoke patch in your life.
Most of the major religions or spiritual teachings, aim for a similar outcome as Matisse. Peace of mind. Peace of mind is obtainable through having peaceful thoughts and not too many of them. A little bit like the contented cat with a full tummy purring. Therefore the more attention we pay to animal care, the more attention we pay to ourselves. If your animal is not peaceful then animal communication can re-balance your relationship. Is it animal care or human care that is needed as who is not living in the present moment?

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), started in 1866, was the first humane organization in the United States. The purpose of the ASPCA is to ""to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States." Through education, awareness, and legislative programs its 750,000 members have helped in the prevention of animal cruelty.
It's very easy to find ASPCA logo-themed items. Not only are they attractive, but you can also feel good about yourself knowing that for every product you buy with an ASPCA logo, 6% of the retail price goes towards one of its humane programs. Even personal checks now contain images from ASPCA.
Profits from sales of these items benefits such programs as an animal hospital, an adoption facility, and the Humane Law Enforcement Department, which is located in New York City. The ASPCA even has a poison control hotline for animals.
One of the reasons that the ASPCA is so popular is that they prevent animal cruelty primarily to animals that function as pets. Many dog and cat lovers appreciate this, as pets can become part of your family and you want to protect them.
When trying to decide on what image to use for your ASPCA checks, you don't have to worry about either being a cat or dog person. There are checks available with both animals on them. You can also find different breeds of dogs available as images. One of the cutest checks has a picture of three little puppies posing together in a stack of hay.
The fun thing about ASPCA checks is that they also come with matching accessories. While you enjoy your personal bank checks, you can also enjoy matching address labels and even a coordinating canvas checkbook cover.
While the personal checks feature images of dogs or cats, you may find checkbook covers that have little paw prints walking steadfastly over the cover. You can find the color orange featured on the checkbook covers since orange is the ASPCA's official color.
Aside from single checks, you can also order duplicate checks. If you're the type of person that forgets to record your transactions then duplicate checks can be good because they keep a copy of the checks that have been written right there in the checkbook.
Aside from the checks being stylish than plain white checks, you can also order them feeling good about yourself since you know that the proceeds will benefit animals.
Personal bank checks with stylish images can be expensive when you order them from your local bank. However, by ordering checks online you can save around 50% of the total cost. You can also expect to have them delivered in about 5 days, which can even be faster than your bank can get them to you.

I was introduced to animals as a small child and always felt more relaxed and sure of myself whilst in their company. Often I wondered as I chatted away to them, how much they understood. Could they talk? Was animal communication real?
At the age of ten I was taken to see the original Dr. Doolittle film staring Rex Harrison. I was transfixed! Here was a man who could really talk to the animals! With my sweets left untouched, I sat on the edge of my seat completely captivated by this magical film.
The film was so beautiful it awoke a deep passion in me. Now I knew who I was going to be. I was going to be like Dr. Doolittle. I would share my life with these amazing creatures and would spend my time talking with them and healing them.
Sadly my hopes were dashed when I shared my ideals with my dad. He looked rather dismayed when he told the film was only a story, not real at all. No one can truly talk to the animals, and they certainly can't hear them.
The years passed, I started training as a medium and then Sullivan, a gorgeous border collie, entered my life. He'd had a bad start in life and had been extremely ill. Sadly his illness had started to affect his behaviour.
Happily, Heaven came to me, though not in a way I expected. Sullivan my young border collie became extremely ill. His behaviour changed and I was at my wits end of what to do for the best. Sitting quietly with him one evening he showed me pictures of his illness and told me that he had come to help me.
I was communicating with my dog! Dear little Sullivan had had such an impact on my life he had started me on the path of being an animal communicator. This was his purpose in life, to push through my doubts and show me the truth.
So I started my training as an animal communicator and it opened up my world. My dream came true all thanks to Sullivan, the dog who proved that animal communication is real, and I could do it!

Animals like us need a purpose in life. They love to help us, and through learning animal communication and conversing with your animal you can find out what their purpose is.
In a multi-animal house there are sometimes problems for all sorts of reasons; a clash in personalities, a squabble over the favourite chair or have you considered a feeling of redundancy? Have all the best jobs gone? Does the newest addition feel left out?
Sometimes there are problems in a multi-animal household. This can be through jealousy or clashes in personality, but sometimes it is simply because an animal is feeling redundant. All the other jobs have been taken and he needs to feel important too.
Your animal might pick his own job and simply get on with it, but sometimes they need our help in suggesting a role for them. Look at their personality, their preferences. It's no good asking a timid dog to guard the house. He will only get stressed.
By learning how to communicate with your animals you can discuss their needs and find out what their purpose is. This makes a much happier home where everyone is valued for their input, and it can even solve a behaviour problem. Sometimes an animal can act up, simply because he feels redundant.
In my household we have two rabbits that have counselled my daughters over their love lives, and one of them also gave my daughter creative ideas for her art work. I have a cat who is my path finder (he always knows where we are moving to before I do!) and I have even received the best dental advice I have ever had from our cockatiel!
Does one particular animal always appear when you are feeling down? Then this is your comforter! Another might encourage you to get some fresh air, or make you laugh, or simply be an unselfish companion who loves you unconditionally. Thank them, for they take their jobs seriously and, like us, they will blossom with praise.
Many unwanted behaviours clear up simply by listening to the animals, and a depressed pet often cheers up and finds a new lease of life through being given a job. These are just a few of the benefits received through learning animal communication, but there are many more. The animals give unselfishly whether we listen or not. Surely it's time that we started to listen to the animals and thank them for being so brilliant?

Testing of water in a fresh water aquarium involves two steps, the first is when you first start an aquarium and the second stage is when the tank has already been established and you have fish in them.
Fish thrive or die, depending on the water quality, so it is imperative for their health that you understand the sort of conditions and the quality of water that your fish need to live healthily. This is not uniform for all fishes, so a bit of study is necessary.
Procedure for a new fish tank:
You first need to establish that the nitrogen cycle has taken place. This is important because after this cycle has occurred it is safe to add fish. Fish waste and undigested food lead to an ammonia spike. This is the first stage of the nitrogen cycle and you can detect this by an Ammonia test. After this friendly bacteria called Nirosomonas start to breed, causing a nitrate spike. This is the second stage of the nitrogen cycle.
The third stage occurs when nitrospira bacteria breed converting the dangerous nitrite into less harmful nitrates. Once this occurs it is safe to add fish. Add the fish gradually, testing the water every couple of days, partially changing the water if there is too much ammonia or nitrite in it. This cycle takes place over a few weeks so it is important to keep testing the water so that you know which stage of the cycle you are on.
There are three test kits that are a must for any fish tank owner, to monitor the nitrogen cycle, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate testing kits. You also need a pH testing kit to check the water for acidity. This is important because if there is too much of a difference in the acidity level of the tank they lived in before you bought them, they may die of stress or shock.
Once your tank is established you do not need to keep on testing all the time. However, you still need to check the water for nitrates. Even though nitrates are not as harmful as the nitrites and ammonia, too much nitrate can also be detrimental to the health of your fish. To avoid any kind of problems, make it your habit to check the water quality and carry out regular water changes so that your fish are healthy and active. You can control the nitrate build up by adding plants and nitrate eating fish to your tank and monitoring the quality of water.

Introduction:
Brushing and grooming a dog is not as simple as it sounds. If you think you can use any of the several types of brushes available to groom and brush your dog, you will be so wrong. Each of the grooming tools available in the market is meant for a specific use, and a good understanding about the specific application is necessary to make grooming easier for you.
Professional dog groomers have the expertise to look after your dog in a better way than you can manage. The expert dog groomers would use slicker brushes to remove mats and tangles from the dog's fur for all types of dog coats. A slicker brush would remove dead hairs from the undercoat and the coarser hairs from the outer coat of the dog's fur.
There are various kinds of brushes which are used for grooming and brushing:
Undercoat rakes:
Undercoat rakes are useful for dogs that shed. The brush has one row of metal prongs which remove the dead hairs from the dog's undercoat. To remove hairs from the soft loose undercoat of your dog, you should use an undercoat rake which is especially designed for this purpose.
Undercoat rakes remove the loose hairs without disturbing the longer hairs in your dog's upper coat. During the time of the year when your dog starts to shed, an undercoat rake becomes very useful to keep your dog from shedding, and it also helps to maintain skin health by gently stimulating circulation to the skin and removing dead skin.
Thoughtful consideration of Dog grooming equipment by looking at a insightful review is always recommended.
Wire-pin brushes:
The wire-pin brush is an excellent tool for general grooming of small to large dog breeds. The loose hair in your dog's coat is lifted out smoothly by this brush, taking out the debris from the fur. Brushing your dog every day, or atleast every alternate day, keeps the skin of your dog healthy, while distributing the oil present in the hairs evenly through-out the dog's coat.
You can also use the wire-pin brush to remove the fluff from your dog's coat by brushing against the direction of hair growth. Wire-pin brushes are available with or without rubber ended tips, and these brushes are mostly preferred for dogs with medium to long hair and those with curly or woolly coats.
Slicker brushes:
These brushes are essentially used to remove mats and tangles from your dog's coat, and as you brush your dog the brush helps to remove dead hairs. Slicker brush gently stimulates the skin of your dog as the layers of the dead skin are taken out leaving the blood to circulate evenly. A slicker brush is often used at the end of grooming and brushing, giving a finished shining appearance to your dog's fur.
There are various sizes of slicker brush available for the larger to smaller dogs. Slicker brushes are generally made from thin metal wire mounted on a soft padded material, looking somewhat like a hair brush. The soft padded material on which the wires are mouthed ensures that the dog does not get hurt as the brush is used.
Summary:
Brushing your dog helps to remove dead hairs from your dog's coat and clean the surface free of parasite as well. Brushing also helps to keep away fleas, and while you brush you can check for the physical appearance of the animal.
While you groom and brush your dog you can easily find out of presence of any unusual bundle, or bald spot which you may take care of immediately. As you brush your dog as frequently as every day or every other day, you slowly build up a bond between you two, and brushing would become a friendly invitation for your dog.

Heartworms are parasitic worms that are transmitted by mosquitoes. The heartworms from a mosquito bite migrate to the dogs heart and cause heartworm disease.
Heartworm disease is a potentially fatal condition. Heartworm disease is a worldwide dog health problem. Dog owners can help prevent heartworm disease with heartworm medication for dogs.
Puppies as young as eight weeks old can start preventative treatment for heartworm disease. An adult dog should be tested for heartworms before being given medicine to prevent heartworm disease.
Coughing, shortness of breath, jaundice, vision problems, and convulsions are possible symptoms of heartworm disease in dogs. A sign of heartworm disease is a decrease in activity or tendency to tire easily.
Severe heartworm disease can cause an enlarged liver, accumulation of fluid in the abdomen, and loss of consciousness. As the heartworm disease progresses, the dog may succumb to congestive heart failure.
The veterinarian uses blood tests to check for dog heartworms. The blood samples are analyzed for the presence of heartworm larvae. X-rays may be used to confirm a diagnosis and check the severity of heartworm disease in dogs.
Treatment for heartworm disease has the best outcome when the heartworm disease is caught early. Dogs should be tested regularly for heartworm disease. If the heartworm disease is advanced, the treatment can be fatal.
The harsh chemicals used to treat heartworm disease kills the adult and immature heartworms. There is also danger of a large collection of heartworms being killed in the heart and blocking the blood flow. A veterinarian may not recommend heartworm treatment for dogs with severe heartworm disease or other health problems.
Heartworm disease can infect other animals besides dogs. Domestic cats, foxes, and other wild animals can get heartworm disease. Heartworms are not considered to pose a risk of heartworm disease in humans.

The Yorkshire Terrier makes a wonderful companion for most people, as they are loyal, friendly and amusing to be around.
General Appearance and Description
Yorkies are popular with people who enjoy being able to take their dogs with them everywhere.
It's believed that the Yorkshire Terrier was originally a much bigger animal than the tiny dog that's so popular today. Likely there was some selective breeding that went on and the dog gradually become smaller over the years. The first Yorkie who looked like the dog we know today was introduced at a dog show in 1870.
The Yorkie has a long, fine silky coat that is very straight and falls straight down from the spine on each side. Yorkie puppies are usually tan and black, while adult dogs are mostly steel blue on the tail and body and tan everywhere else.
Most owners who are not showing their Yorkies will keep the hair long and shaggy, but if the dog is shown, his hair will be clipped shorter and given more structure.
The hair on the top of the head gets very long, so most owners will pull it back into a distinctive ponytail on the top of the head, while others will clip the top hairs so they stay out of the dog's face.
Yorkshire Terrier breeders will tell you there's no true Teacup Yorkshire Terrier. All Yorkshire Terriers are small and the teacup is not an official designation at all.
Basic Temperament
Yorkie dogs are entertaining for many reasons but one favorite character trait of many owners is the dog's obliviousness to his size. He thinks he's a bigger dog and will enjoy any adventure that a larger dog might enjoy.
Always energetic, the Yorkie is brave, extremely loyal to his owner and clever. He's intelligent and a willing companion on any adventure.
Because he's somewhat dismissive of his tiny size, the Yorkie will be willing to take on any challenge, and sees himself as a watchdog. He generally does a fine job of it, but his size ensures that he's not a terribly good match for whatever walks through the front door.
Like most small dogs, the Yorkie needs clear direct leadership. You must lead the Yorkie with a firm but gentle hand.
If you establish that you are the leader of the pack, the Yorkie will submit to that, but if you don't, he will exhibit troubling behavior problems like jealousy, aggression, barking, snapping and separation anxiety.
Care Required
All that fur means that some grooming is essential. The Yorkie's coat needs to be combed or brushed at least weekly. If you keep the long hair on the top of the head tied back, you should replace the elastic or ribbon weekly.
The Yorkie develops plaque easily on his teeth, so they should be cleaned regularly.
Good for allergy sufferers, the Yorkie sheds little.
When looking at know more about Yorkie dogs, read and learn as much as you can because this is truly a incredible little dog.
Exercise Requirements
While he might not be able to walk too far, the Yorkie likes s a daily walk, as well as regular play (but you should never substitute play for the daily walk). If you don't give your dog a daily walk, he will be more likely to display behavior problems.
If you notice that your dog is running around the house in a bit of a crazy fashion, that's a sign that he needs more of a walk than he's currently getting.
When you do take him out, be cautious of the conditions outside. Yorkshire Terriers are very sensitive to cold and prefer warm areas, as in warm climates, or simply being indoors on a cold day.
The Yorkshire Terrier is truly a very special dog.
Training
The Yorkie is easy to train, but he can be stubborn, so be sure to establish yourself as the pack leader and give him clear boundaries when you're training him. That will pay dividends when you try to train him.
Some Yorkie dogs can be hard to housetrain.
Height and Weight
The Yorkie will be about 6 to 7 inches tall and will weigh right around 7 pounds.
Health and Longevity
While most Yorkies live long lives, they do run the risk of some health problems.
Most Yorkies suffer poor digestion and the owner should avoid giving too many special treats. Yorkshire Terriers should be given dry food only, because they run the risk of serious tooth decay and dry food keeps their teeth strong and sharp.
Yorkie dogs can also run the risk of bronchitis; fragile bones can easily lead to fractures.
Most Yorkies will live to be about 12 to 15 years old.
Suitability
If you have an apartment, the Yorkie is an excellent choice. They enjoy being indoors and will find their activity inside happily.
Because the Yorkie considers himself a companion pet, he enjoys senior citizens and people who will be happy to take him on adventures. If possible, he should not be placed in a house with young children who might be a little too rough with him.
Yorkies can make surprisingly adequate watchdogs.

Many veterinary visits are due to the dog experiencing vomiting. The same causes of diarrhea can cause vomiting in dogs. The dog owner should contact the veterinarian if the dog has blood in either diarrhea or vomit or has vomiting or diarrhea for more than a day.
Another common dog illness is ear infections. Keeping the dogs ears clean and free from dirt and debris can reduce the risk for ear infections. Ear mites can pose a risk for ear infections, so any ear mite infestation should be treated promptly.

Originally from Scotland, the Scottish terrier is a small breed of dog that's famous for being unusually hairy and turbulent. As fanciers put it, this breed is rather unique in physical profile and very typical as a terrier. Other nicknames for this breed are Aberdeen Terrier, Scottie if it's a male, and Aggie or Abbie if it's a female.
The Scottie, along with the Cairn, Dandie Dinmont, West Highland White and Skye terriers, is one of the first and original terriers of Scotland. In 19th century, this breed has been fondly called the little diehard, in the instigation of the Earl of Dumbarton, which was said to own a pack of Scotties. This moniker gave way to the term Dumbarton Diehards in reference to the Scottish Royal Scouts.
Today, the Scottish terrier is ubiquitous as it is often seen in the arms of many people, famous and infamous alike. In appearance, this little breed shows off a small yet muscular and hardy body. It has a barrel of a chest and long head as opposed to its tiny frame.
The legs of this breed are short and sturdy and its paws are made for digging. The eyes are small, almond-shaped, and in colors of black or dark brown. The coat is wiry, shaggy and low to the ground while being distinctly long on the beard, eyebrows, legs and lower body.
This breed is double-coated and that the outer coat is hard, long and wiry while the inner coat is soft and dense. It usually comes in color black, dark grey, or brindle. A wheaten Scottie also exists and it is mostly mistaken for a West Highland White terrier.
The personality of this breed is always described as stubborn but loving and protective. Usually, training can be quite difficult but patience, and firm and positive reinforcements will go a long way. Socialization at an early age is very important for the Scottie as it tends to be aloof and reserved towards strangers and other dogs during adulthood.
Inside the house, this breed can be quite turbulent as it loves to be active yet it can also be sensitive, loyal and affectionate to the family. Usually, this dog will only attach itself to one or two people within the home but it makes a good watchdog for the household since it barks whenever a stranger is approaching. Also, although small, the Scottie is fast, active and alert and needs daily exercise to remain in tiptop condition.
The Scottie was originally developed to dig, flush out and chase vermin such as rats and other small creatures like squirrels and rodents. Today, the Scottie still possess that hunting instinct that's why when it is being taken out for a walk or exercise, it must be kept on a leash. The Scottie rose to fame all over Europe during the reign of King James VI and it is during the 1890s that it reached the US.

Feeding your dog can be filled with stress.
Many dog owners take a zealous approach to how they feed their dog and can be very judgmental of other dog owners when the issue of a dog's food comes up.
The reality is that what you feed your dog is your own decision. It will be guided by how you have always fed your dogs and what you think is right for your current dog or dogs.
A dog's food is only one part of raising a healthy and happy dog, but it's a very important part, and worth some careful consideration.
How to Choose a Dog Food
If you go shopping for dog food, you quickly see that there are many options. There's premium dog food, low-cost dog food and so many dog food brands your head can spin.
Here are some tips for finding the correct dog food:
* Begin your search before you go the store. If you make your choice in the store, it could easily be the wrong one. * Ask friends and family for recommendations. If they use a particularly good dog food, consider that as one of your viable choices. * Ask your vet for a recommendation. Based on your dog's age and health, your vet may have a specific recommendation for your dog. * Remember that the best dog food for one dog isn't necessarily the best for another. Consider your own needs and budget before settling on a dog food choice. * Read dog food reviews. If they are reputable and published in well-known publications or web sites, you can generally trust them. * Remember that puppy dog food is a completely different beast than food you feed an older dog. Don't feed a puppy regular dog food, and don't feed an adult dog puppy dog food.
When looking at learning more about Best Dog Food, read as much as you can.
The health of your dog depends on it!
What About Homemade Dog Food?
Recently, the safety of pet food was questioned when many dogs became ill and died after eating commercial dog food. Some of the brands in question were even considered premium dog food brands, so it seemed that no brand was safe.
This safety scare led many people to decide to give their dog a homemade dog food diet. It's an excellent option if you have the time and money. Feeding a dog a homemade dog food diet can be expensive and somewhat time consuming, though it does get easier the longer you do it.
If you are thinking you might skip the dog food brands and go for the homemade dog food, consider these tips:
* Make sure the dog food you make is nutritionally balanced. Dogs need a good amount of carbohydrates, fat and protein. Do some reading ahead of time to make sure that you get just the right proportion of nutrients for your size and breed of dog. * Be willing to cook animal body parts that you might not consider desirable. Dogs can eat organs, necks and legs. In fact, many believe that one of the main advantages of a homemade dog food diet is that your dog can get more raw meat and bones, which many consider to be the ideal dog food diet. * Remember that if you start Fido on a homemade dog food diet, it can be hard to switch to a more traditional diet. You can't just put a bowl of kibble down because you are too tired and can't be bothered to make your dog's dinner. To that end, it's best to do a lot of preparation ahead of time so there are packages in the freezer you can pull out and thaw.
Conclusion
The best dog food diet for your dog is the diet that proves to be best for you. Depending on your budget and free time available, you might make a choice that's different to your neighbors. The key is to find dog food brands that are accessible, affordable and that feed your dog healthfully. Or make your own. It's truly your choice.

A grown up dog in a house that has not been to in any kind of puppy house training, would spell disaster for the owner of the dogs. That it is only logical to train a dog while it is still young in order for future pet related problems to be avoided. Problems that include no less than expensive furniture and designer shoes ruined, torn, and dirtied. If you love your dog and also love to keep the things I have mentioned intact, then you should agree that such is a necessary step.
Before you try to think of negative thoughts on how difficult such a task could be, know that this bridge has been crossed a lot of times before, meaning that tons of training kits and guides are available at your disposal. Just keep in mind that not all of the tips and tutorials they give will work for a hundred percent since dogs have different personalities and levels of tendencies depending on a lot of factors. But just keep in mind that you can choose not to be alone in raising up your puppy.
A way to get started with the puppy house training is to put the puppy into a box to take naps in. You should make sure that the puppy sleeps in that box for the first couple of weeks, guide it to do so. You will observe that the cute little thing would always want to get out of the box first before doing any of nature's calls if it could be helped. This is so because dogs do not want to dirty the place where they sleep on. So if you could just let the dog realized this in relation to the house, then you would not have to deal with this type of problem later as you live with your dog.
Regardless of which guide you want to teach your canine friend. Do not forget that one of the strongest point of getting a dog to do just the right things is so that you will experienced what you wanted to experience from adopting or buying that cute pup in the first place: good companionship. Thus beginning with as well founded puppy house training should be the choice for dog lovers.
Having a puppy for a pet is not having a regular thing. Simple care begins when you make sure that he is feed properly, given regular bath and certainly provided with puppy house training. It takes a wonderful experience to be able to share with him the tricks that he just learned and that you need not worry about a thing. Yes, he is disciplined and thanks to the training you provided him.

Maine coon cats are hardy cats with a sturdy build and thick coats. Two of the distinguishing characteristics of Maine Coon cats are their heavily-tufted ears and bushy, brush-like tail.
Many legends tell stories about the origin of the Maine Coon cat. One such legend is that the Maine Coon cat breed originated from the mating of raccoons and feral domestic cats. This is not genetically possible.
The physical characteristics of the Maine Coon cats seem well adapted to the winters of Maine. Maine Coon cats have thick, long coats and tufted toes that have been compared to snowshoes.
The Maine Coon cat has a rectangular body. Their rounded eyes are large. Possible eye colors for Maine Coon cats are gold, green, green-gold, or copper. Blue eye and odd-eyes are possible on white and bi-colored Maine Coon cats.
The large, heavily-tufted ears are set wide on the Maine Coons medium-sized head. Maine Coon cats may have a frontal ruff which is considered a desirable characteristic by breed standards.
White, blue, red, cream, and black are the possible solid colorings for Maine Coon cats. The possible colorings other than the solid colors are tabby, shaded, smoke, calico, tortoiseshell, and bi-colored.
Maine Coon kittens are slow to develop. They only reach full size at three to five years of age. Kittens of other cat breeds often reach adult size by the time they are two years old.
The average weight range for a Maine Coon cat is twelve to twenty pounds with the females weighing less than the males. They are heavy-boned and broad chested. They are considered to be medium to large sized cats.
A prospective cat owner should contact a reputable Maine Coon breeder. There may be a waiting list for a Maine Coon kitten as there often is for many cat breeds.

Have you ever thought of owning freshwater fish? Before you go out buying freshwater fish, you will need a freshwater fish aquarium set up. You do not want to just buy any freshwater fish aquarium either. There are many factors you must consider.
You need to do some research before you buy a freshwater fish aquarium. For example, you need to know the right size aquarium, what to put in your aquarium, and how to clean your aquarium.
The first step in buying a freshwater fish aquarium is to figure out the right size of the aquarium. Not only do you need to consider how much swimming area your freshwater fish will need, but you also have to consider how much space in your house is available for installing an aquarium. Do not just estimate the amount of space you need. Get a ruler and measure the exact space needed.
Figure out what you will put in your freshwater fish aquarium. Put some plants and other small figures for eye appeal. Make sure the fish you buy will not eat the plants.
Research into the type of fish you want to put in your freshwater fish aquarium. You have to be very careful and not put predator and prey fish in the same tank. It would be a great waste of money if your fish ate all the other fish.
You should also research on how to clean your freshwater fish aquarium. Algae can grow in your aquarium and you have to have a method for getting rid of that. You could put algae eating fish in your freshwater fish aquarium to take care of the issue. You can also use a filter.
Another way you can clean the tank is by putting in plants. Not only will the plants help make the freshwater fish aquarium look good, but it will clear out the nitrates in the tank.
Setting up a freshwater fish aquarium is not simple task. If you do your research you should be able to set one up easily though.

Its critical to seek immediate veterinary treatment when you notice the signs of a problem kidney in a cat. The earlier your cat gets treatment the more chances she has for a longer life with you. While chronic renal failure arrives over a long period of time, acute kidney failure is an emergency. Here's some tips to recognizing the symptoms of kidney failure in cats.
Feline kidneys are vulnerable to a number of life-threatening disorders that can lead to a failing kidney in a cat or chronic renal failure. Your vet would probably agree with the statistics that they see more cats 7 years and older that are showing signs of kidney failure in cats.
The risk for feline kidney disease may be inherited. Some long-haired breeds like Angoras and Persians and short-haired cats like the Abyssinian are more genetically predisposed to kidney problems, either acute or chronic renal failure.
The main difference between chronic and acute kidney failure in cats is that acute renal failure is a very severe situation that occurs relatively suddenly - over a week or a month. Chronic renal failure creeps up on your cat over a longer time, years even.
The most common cause of kidney failure in cats occurs when your cat swallows a toxic substance like antifreeze, pesticides, cleaning fluids and human medications. Common causes of acute renal failure include blockages that prevent a good flow of blood to the kidney in a cat or stones and inflammations blocking the flow of urine from the kidney into the bladder.
Signs Of Kidney Failure In Cats
Occasional vomiting Increase in water consumption Increase in urination Weight loss Loss of appetite
Your vet may refer to some of these symptoms with the terms "polydipsia" or "polyuria". Polydipsia means that your cat is drinking a lot of water - lots of it. On the other end, In fact, you this may be the first sign your recognize of a problem kidney in a cat. When you clean the litter box you find numerous pee-balls of cat litter, or unusually large ones.
If your vet suspects kidney failure in a cat she will evaluate your cat's BUN. BUN stands for blood urea nitrogen, as well as the creatinine levels. When these are elevated it means your cat's kidneys aren't working right and need extra help.
Traditionally, treating renal failure in cats is determined by the disorder causing the condition. If acute kidney failure is caused by a urinary tract blockage the stone must be removed immediately. Treating chronic renal failure is done with a more conservative approach. This may include intravenous fluid therapy and changes to diet.

This information has been created to aid you in recognizing a number of symptoms that pertain to Guinea Pig Health. It's not intended to substitute the advice of your veterinary. If you think that your pet is ill or injured please seek the help of your resident licensed vet. The best medicine is always prevention. This is your key to success. Be prepared to give your Guinea Pig the proper diet, exercise and daily attention, and the result will be good Guinea Pig health.
I must mention that most guinea pigs are not fond of bathing (much like their feline friends cats). Only when it becomes absolutely necessary should you subject them to the stress of immersing them in water. A clean and sanitary living space free of feces, urine and unwanted food will add years to your guinea pigs health. Spot clean the litter material daily and disinfect the entire cage once every ten days.
Guinea Pigs or (Cavy's) are more susceptible to disease and injuries compared to other pets. One Idea for this is the size of the homes, in comparison to say that of a cat or dog for example. To stay on top of your Guinea pigs health, you will need to examine him from day to day for signs of illness and wounds.
Frequent sneezing and sniffling. The bedding material in the cage can cause allergies. Often times new places and objects like plants, carpet and even the fibers on your sofa may be to blame. Substitute the bedding and stay clear of suspect areas. Constant nose irritation is a sign to make a Vet visit.
Coughing or gasping. When your guinea pig has difficulty breathing and is coughing or wheezing, a respiratory infection may be to blame. Seek immediate attention from a Vet as these disorders can quickly become fatal.
Watery or cloudy eyes. Small particles like, dust, dirt and pollen can affect the eyes adversely and cause tears to form. A liquid solution from your Vet or local pet store can be used safely to flush out the irritants. If trouble persists see your Veterinarian.
Excessive hair loss. Normally when a guinea pig gets a minor cut or is bitten, the hair around the wound will fall out. This is a natural process of guinea pig health. The discovery of bigger bald spots is cause for alarm. Lice, mites, fleas and other parasites including ringworm can be the source of the trouble. Consult your Vet and remedy the problem before it gets out of hand.
Diarrhea. If you learn your Cavy has diarrhea, you need to fix this trouble right away. An overabundance of fruit and vegetables may be to blame. If left Alone this can destroy your pet quickly! Insert a little lactobacillus acidophiles, in capsule form from your health food store or pharmacy.
Red pink or dark colored urine. Blood coming from the urinary tract is a grave condition. Consult your Vet immediately.
Scratching and itching. Parasites and fungus can invade your pet without warning. Examine your Guinea Pig's coat frequently. You can obtain a medicated hair shampoo that fights most parasites and fungal infestations from your Vet or local pet shop. If the trouble remains look up your Vet.
Convulsions and tilting the head. A dangerous condition that requires immediate examination by a qualified Vet. Severe and painful ear infections lead to these symptoms. Wounds caused from parasites have been linked to brain and nervous system abnormalities. Symptoms such as body curling, shaking, stiffness and erratic behavior can result from parasites.
In Conclusion. The most significant aspect of bringing up a healthy Guinea Pig and the key to sustaining the life of your little fur ball is by keeping his/her cage clean. Change the litter material regularly and sanitize the cage frequently. Doing this will prevent some of the unfortunate symptoms discussed in this report and ensure good guinea pig health!

Dog dental care is often ignored by dog owners unless the dog develops a dental problem. Routine dental care can prevent dental problems. A dogs teeth should be brushed every day.
Like humans, dogs can develop dental problems including dog dental disease and infections due to a buildup of tartar and plaque on the teeth. Dog dental disease can cause pain, especially when chewing. Regular brushing removes the plaque that causes problems.
In addition to daily brushing, the dogs teeth should be cleaned by a veterinarian at least once a year. The veterinarian can also check for dental problems during this appointment.
Many dogs resist allowing their teeth to be brushed. If teeth brushing is started while the dog is a puppy, there is likely to be less resistance.
Some dog dental care products are designed specifically for dogs that resist teeth brushing. Finger brushes are small toothbrushes that fit on the dog owners finger. They often have soft, rubber projections instead of bristles.
If a dog resists the use of a finger brush, a warm washcloth can be used to wipe the dogs teeth. After the dog learns to relax when this is done, the dog owner may be able to start using a finger brush or childs soft toothbrush.
Dog toothpaste can be found at many pet stores and through pet supply retailers on the Internet. Toothpastes for humans can make a dog ill.
Some dog foods and dog treats are marketed as being good for a dogs teeth. Many of these food products are not proven to be effective. They should not be used as an alternative to proper dog dental care.
Dental dog bones and some rope toys are designed to improve the dental health of dogs. Daily teeth brushing is still recommended if these products are used.
Older dogs often develop considerable wearing down of the teeth. This may not cause any problems as it is a natural occurrence. If it becomes problematic, a veterinarian may recommend treatment.

The aerosol dog repellent can be in canister sprays while the electronic type is used to emit high sounding frequency. The aerosol type and the electronic gadgets are very useful as resisting agents against chasing or attacking canines. This electronic device is effective for training canines.
The electronic watch dog can operate simply as when a dog is approaching within 20 feet, it barks like an enormous irate canine. This special device is an alarming device that can scare this four-legged animal. It is a product of mans ingenuity applying the microwave technology.
Generally, dogs have poor visions particularly at night but their ears are quite sensitive. If you are holding the device, they can mistake you as a huge creature much bigger than them. The closer they get to you the more horrifying is the bark coming out of the gadget.
The next gadget has an effective range of up to 15 feet away from you. This is the dog chaser which is also an effective tool for dog trainings. The device gives out an annoying high-frequency sound audible only the ears of this animal. The irking noise is too much for their sensitive sense of hearing that makes the creature run away from you. This is another product of the advancement of science employing ultrasonic technology.
Typically, canines are intelligent creatures. They can be easily trained by means of association. The spray is the most common dog repellent and very affordable that is why it is very popular. It has an effective range of at least 5 feet. It emits a discomforting smell that is very repugnant to the nose of this animal. Most often they equate discomfort and unpleasant smell to pain like a dog repellent.

Crate Training is a training technique used to house train dogs. A crate is a small kennel that can be closed off and is usually made out of plastic or steel wire. Crate training benefits both the dog and its owner.
The main reason that crate training is so effective is that dogs hate to pee where they sleep. Abiding by this principal, they learn to hold their urges to urinate until they are outside. Little by little the dog learns that outside is the place to pee.
While a dog is going through crate training, it will spend almost all of it's time inside its crate (den). It should in fact be inside the crate all times that it is not being supervised. After letting the puppy/dog free from the crate it should be taken outside immediately so that it has the opportunity to pee.
When choosing a crate make sure its large enough so that your dog can move comfortably inside. A crate that is 1.5 times your dog's length and has a few inches of head room when your dog's in the standing position is about right. If the crate is too long the puppy may use the addition area to pee in. In the case that your crate is too big for you dog, block off one end of the crate to make it smaller. Plastic crates with wire doors are the easiest to clean and transport so we recommend getting one of these where possible.
During crate training, the puppy's toilet breaks should be at regular intervals throughout the day. This reduces the likelihood of accidents occurring. As puppies get older they naturally become better at holding there urges to go to the toilet.
It is very important that you build up a positive association of the crate. You can do this by feeding your dog close to (eventually inside) the crate and by rewarding your puppy's good behaviour by giving it treats inside the crate. Make the crate more comfortable for your puppy by putting its favourite toys and a soft blanket inside the crate.
One of the worst things you can do is use the crate as a place of punishment, or a prison. Avoid leaving your dog inside the crate for too long periods of time as your dog may begin to fear the crate.
While crate training has been proven to be a highly effective way of house training puppies, it is not universally accepted. Some experts claim that puppies can become too attached to the crate after being locked inside it for such a long time.
It is highly recommended that you use a professional house training guide when starting to train your puppy. These not only save you a lot of time and energy, but also stress and frustration. Click the link below for more information.

The Blue Tang (Paracanthurus Hepatus) enjoys the distinction of being one of the five most recognizable maine fishes along with the percula clownfish (Percula, Ocellaris), flame angelfish (Centropyge Loriculus), yellow tang (Zebrasoma Flavescens) and the royal gramma (Gramma Loreto). It remains the sole species under the genus Paracanthurus. Beautifully colored with an iridescent blue throughout its body with thick black markings that begin from the eyes and stretch all the way to its yellow tail.
The movie Finding Nemo featured a blue tang as one of its main characters. It is also known as the Palette Surgeonfish, Royal Blue Tang, Hippo Tang and the Regal Tang. Both the blue and yellow tangs combine to become the two most popular surgeonfishes in the hobby. The blue tang is a very affordable fish due probably because they are commonly found and heavily collected from the wild. Juveniles retail for around $25 while adults can fetch up to $80 per specimen. As with all surgeonfish, the blue tang is susceptible to ich and lateral line erosion so pick so keep a look out for any sign of the two.
Towards other species of fish the blue tang is quite peaceful. Which is why (besides its beauty) it enjoys such popularity in the marine aquarium hobby. They are hostile towards blue tangs and to a lesser extent, other surgeonfish so do not add more than one blue tang per aquarium.
In they wild they are a shoaling fish. If more than one is present in a large tank, such behavior can be witnessed. When housing more than one blue tang, they should always be introduced at the same time. Aggression is normally seen when putting a new blue tang in with an established one.
Their maximum attainable length is 12 inches. As such they should be housed only in larger tanks upwards of 100 gallons. Due to heavy collection many, specimens no bigger than an inch are common. At that size they will grow very very fast so don't be fooled into putting them in a 30 gallon tank..
Ample swimming space are needed by blue tangs so the scape should reflect this. They need at least a few caves/niches as they bed down in these areas every night.
Like most of its surgeonfish cousins, blue tangs are herbivores in the wild. They form large shoals and will graze on algae for most of the day. In captivity a vast percentage of their diet should be made up of algae based foods. Unlike marine angelfish, they are completely reef safe and do not bother corals, making them hugely popular fish for large marine reef aquariums.
Seaweed/Nori sheets are commonly offered. You can either buy seaweed produced and packaged specifically for marine fishes (Julian sprungs sea veggies) or you can go to your local supermarket and buy some nori sheets there. Always buy plain, unflavoured nori. They sometimes come with spices so you want to avoid those. Clip the sheet with a commercial nori clip or a device of your own doing and attach it to the side of the tank.
Blue tangs will normally consume anything offered in captivity despite the fact that they are mainly vegetarians in the wild. Meaty foods should make up a small percent of their daily diet.
Formula one and formula two food mixes are a good choice as well as krill, mysis shrimp and a high quality pellet. A highly reputable food for all marine fishes are those that are produced by New Life Spectrum.
Once in a while you'll see pet stores feeding lettuce to their tangs. Both romaine and iceberg lettuce don't offer much nutritionally so you want to avoid lettuce altogether.

The Achilles tang is a beautiful fish that pops up from time to time. It is a dark chocolate throughout with a single orange teardrop on its spine. White, orange and chocolate lines its tail. It is commonly known as the Achilles surgeonfish and the red-tailed surgeonfish.
This highly prized tang is endemic to Hawaii. A quick seller, finding one in the market may prove frustrating.
A very pricey tang, small specimens go for $100 or slightly more while adults can fetch up to $300 per fish. Extra large show quality specimens can fetch even more, $400 and above.
Sadly, this tang doesn't do all that well in captivity. Unlike some other species like the blue tang (paracanthurus hepatus) or the yellow tang (zebrasoma flavescens), they seem to be a bit more delicate. But that's only part of the story, they're not too keen on prepared foods either.
Like its brethren they are also prone to lateral line erosion, hole in the head disease and marine parasites.
In the wild, achilles tangs are known to interbreed with the goldrim tang (acanthurus nigricans). They're highly prized offspring rarely appear on the market and usually cost quite a bit.
Considered an aggressive surgeonfish, they've been known to harass other large tank mates. Smaller species like gobies, damsels and dottybacks are usually left alone. They do not take too kindly to sharing tank space with other tangs and are relentlessly hostile towards other achilles tangs. As always, if you must keep multiple achilles tangs always keep put them in at the same time and make sure your tank's big enough.
The Achilles tang reaches 9 inches in the wild, which means a maximum length of 7 inches or so in captivity. The minimum size tank for them should be a 100 gallons. Larger tanks are recommended as they require ample swimming room.
Getting these fishes to eat in captivity is challenging to say the least. Nevertheless, we should try our best.
They do not eat corals, making them reef safe. They are algae eaters in the wild so ensure a large part of their diet in captivity has enough algae.
Despite the fact that they're primarily herbivores in the wild, they are open to just about anything offered once acclimated. Krill, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, pellets, they take them all.
We should ensure that a large part of their diet is algae based, since they eat so much of it in the wild.
A good form of algae to feed tangs would be nori sheets.Depending on the brand, prices vary greatly. Some people may find Julian Sprungs Sea Veggies to cost a little too much. Good quality stuff though. They come in flake form too, making feedings very convenient.
Thankfully there are many other brands that produce nori primarily for human consumption. Some are cheap while the really high quality sheets can be very expensive.
You'll need to secure the nori to a clip. You could DIY a clip yourself and spend a couple of bucks on a commercial type. The sheets are sometimes rolled up and cut beforehand, most however, feed it as is. Secure the nori to your algae clip and attach it to the side of the aquarium.
Ocean Nutrition produces another good quality food, Formula Two. Along with mixed sea food, vitamins and whatnot, there is an extra amount of algae added to the mix. Available in three forms, pellet, flake or frozen cube.
The best flake food for the yellow tang would be Sea Veggie mixed flakes followed by formula two flakes. A great all-rounder with a good balance of ingredients, New Life Spectrum comes highly recommended as well.
Do not feed your tangs lettuce of any kind (romaine or iceberg). You'll normally see this happening at pet stores that are trying to save a few bucks. Lettuce doesn't have a place in this hobby as nutritionally its rubbish.
