Dogs are smart, making them easy to train. Whether training a puppy for the first time, an adult dog new to your home, or revisiting training with your resident dog, getting back to basics is the most efficient approach to assuring you have a well-adjusted, well-behaved pet.

Those of us who have learned a second language know all too well, if you don't use that second language regularly, you will eventually forget the language. Training your dog is the same as teaching him a second language. Without consistent reinforcement throughout the dog's lifetime, even the smartest of dogs will forget even the best training. When this happens, it is best to go back to the basics. Training commands are a form of communication. If your dog is forgetting to listen, go right back to ground zero. Start training as if your dog has never been trained before.

For instance, if your dog is no longer coming when you give him the command, dust off the long lead and start over. Use a 40' lead (available at your local pet or feed store). Tie knots in it at 2' and 5' before the end. Add a tied handle and you have your training lead. Begin by calling your dog: name and come. While saying the command, quickly begin by running backwards After about 5 feet, stop once the dog has caught up to you. Reward with a snack. Repeat a few times.

After about 5 or 10 minutes of training, do a bit of agility, play with your pup. It is very important to remain cheerful, and get excited when they perform the behavior correctly. The dogs forget the repetition. Many breeds get bored with repetitive activities such as ball chasing. So it is important to play a little bit, do about 10 minutes of training and play some more. Puppies especially have a low attention span and get tired after about an hour of training. Also, when training a dog to come, you should never ever ask the dog to come from a sit-stay command. This will contradict the stay command.

When teaching a dog the sit-stay command, hold a favorite treat out in your fingers and have the dog sit. Reward with a small piece of the treat. With the dog still in sit, make a stop hand signal and simultaneously say the word stay. Once the dog has performed the command correctly, take a few steps back to the dog to reward him with the treat. Never have the dog come to you to retrieve the treat once you have put him in a sit-stay. The simpler, the better; back to basics dog training will do the trick.

Pet urns can be the best way to remember and honor the loss of your pet. You can often find them at a veterinarians office, a pet funeral home some specialized pet stores and online. With such a large selection available of pet cremation urns it can be difficult picking the perfect one to remember and honor your pet. With all the materials, styles and colors available it can be difficult making the perfect choice.

The loss of a pet can be sudden and very difficult to deal with when deciding weather to have a funeral, have a pet memorial stone or something to hold your pets ashes or mementos such as a tags or a collar and a few photos or keepsakes. Many are meant to last but you have options of burial, biodegradable or memorial type of pet urns. Many materials are used from stone such as marble, soapstone even granite. Metals can be brass, bronze or even copper. The use of wood is very common and can be woods such as cherry, walnut, oak or just pine. Ceramic pet urns are very common and can be made into many different shapes often a vase shape or even a figurine and can often be personalized with a photo of your pet.

The material of you pet urn will also determine where you may place it. You should decide in advance where you intend on placing or displaying your urn. If you place it in the elements or outside consider metal or stone if it is to be displayed indoors consider one made of wood or ceramics. Placing a metal urn outdoors will likely make it tarnish much faster regardless of the metal and will show signs within weeks. You could also consider cleaning it on a regular schedule with the appropriate cleaner. Consider trying to seal the surface with an acrylic floor wax. You can do this by wiping very slowly a sponge that has the wax poured on it this way you can avoid sightly air bubbles that may appear on the surface. The wax will not last forever but usually holds up for several months.

Photo pet urns are becoming quite popular. They are often made of many materials and have a place holder for a photo of your beloved pet. They may also have an area to engrave either a likeness of your pet and some loving words. This is often done with laser engraving. Most materials using this process are either stone or wood.

If you are looking for a burial urn that will last consider stone or a metal that does not rust. In many cases people will plant a small tree or plant or place a memorial stone over the area. Yard ornaments are often use to mark a pet memorial.

When you loose a pet it can often be overwhelming searching for the perfect urn or memorial urn. When buying a pet urn online you can often save a lot of money and find the perfect choice.

The average cat lives roughly between ten and fifteen years. Even with the lifespan of cats increasing to twenty or more, it seems that no length of time is ever long enough to enjoy your companion. When your cat dies, saying goodbye can be difficult. Preserving its memory shouldn't have to be. A great way to preserve its memory is by placing your cats ashes in an urn. Here are some things to consider when picking a cat urn to remember your lost friend.

The first thing you should do is set a budget. Prices are based on the materials and elaboration of the urn. The limit you set will depend on your income. If you can't afford an elaborate urn, but you would like one, you can always purchase a simple one and decorate it yourself. Not only will this save you money, but it is also a great opportunity to personalize it. You can add photos, nameplates, and designs.

The size is important when selecting an urn. Just like people, not all cats are the same size. A helpful tip to remember is one pound of weight is equivalent to one cubic inch. If your cat was eight pounds when it died, you would select an urn with eight cubic inches. Most cats are not very large so the cremains will most likely fit in one hand.

Just like furniture or a vase, when it comes to shopping for an urn, you should consider the decor of the room you will be placing it in. If you have cherry furniture and trim, you should select an urn that is also a cherry color. You also need to consider if the room is modern, classic, rustic, or country. If the urn matches the decor, it will seem to belong in the room instead of clashing with the other decorations.

The final thing to consider is what type fits your taste. When many think of urns, they picture a vase-like holder with a lid. But urns come in all shapes and sizes. There are some that are box-like with hinges, those with angel, dog, and cat figurines on them, urns for gardens, urns with pictures, and those that resemble household items such as stacks of books. Which one you choose will ultimately depend on your taste.

Picking a cat urn may not be as joyous as picking out a new piece of furniture, but once the process is over and your cat's ashes are preserved, this special item will help you remember your companion for years to come.

Nothing can take away the feeling of loss when a pet passes away. Many are part of the family and maintain an important place in the home. However, it is important to ensure that the memory, as well as the image of the dog is not lost. Eventually, grief will fade, but the remembrance will always be there. By placing the ashes in a photo urn, the remains are preserved, fond memories are brought to mind, and there is a place to memorialize the deceased.

After the process of cremation, a loved one can request the ashes of the deceased. The ashes are usually put into an urn and placed somewhere for the family to see. In the case of a photo urn, a picture of the dog is attached. One of the advantages of a photo urn is that while the remains are preserved inside, the picture makes it more personal and provides connection to the deceased.

A photo urn creates time to recollect fond memories of the animal. Instead of being just a picture frame, the urn houses the remains as well as a photo of the dog. This gives opportunity for the family, as well as their guests, to look at the picture and remember a special anecdote or story about the dog's life and bring a smile to everyone's face. The photo brings a feeling of remembrance and bond towards the dog.

Having a place to memorialize the deceased is an important part of the grieving process. Photo urns provide a place to celebrate the life of the pet as well as a place to mourn the loss. It is something physical to be able to hold onto while the photo identifies the source of grief. The image of the pet is never lost or forgotten, no matter how much time has passed.

While no one wants to think about the loss of a family pet, a dog's photo urn can be a source of comfort. It personalizes the urn and helps the family to maintain the ashes as well as the memories. The photo attached makes it easier to place the urn in the sight of others as they will see it and recognize what it is and what it represents. Photo urns, unlike other urns, not only house the ashes, but also keep the memories alive and provide a place to remember man's best friend.

When a beloved pet cat passes away, choosing just the right cat cremation urn can help provide the cat's owner with some solace and a sense that the cat cremation urn will serve as a fitting memorial to the cat's life and memory. There are a wide variety of cat cremation urns from A to Z available in today's marketplace, so the choice might initially seem overwhelming. It's a good idea to take your time in selecting just the right cat cremation urn to suit your departed pet and to keep several guidelines in mind so that you are satisfied with your ultimate selection.

Cat cremation urns are fashioned in a variety of materials. Urns are crafted from such natural woods as walnut, mahogony, oak and cherry and many cat lovers prefer wooden urns for the simple elegance and warmth they convey. Cat urns also come in a variety of stone materials such as granite, onyx, alabaster and marble. Urns fashioned from stone convey a sense of durability and immortality and are popular with pet owners who want to display their urns. Copper, brass, pewter and bronze cremation urns are among the best choices for those who want an urn crafted from metal, with a finish that can be either brushed or polished to a beautiful shine. Ceramic urns are the fourth choice and can actually be crafted into feline shapes or the more simple and traditional vase or lidded jar.

In addition to the material used for the urn, a pet owner selecting a final resting place for their departed cat should consider the size needed. Urns can be obtained in a variety of shapes ranging from boxes, vases and obelisks to cat shapes and elaborately designed jars with lids. A pet owner selecting a cat cremation urn should also consider whether they are going to display the urn as part of their indoor living decor, set the urn in an outdoor garden setting or bury the urn in a pet cemetary accompanied by a grave marker. A simple wooden urn might be more suitable for burial than an elaborately carved stone urn that is engraved with the pet's name.

Many pet owners prefer to start with a plain urn that they can then personalize with an engraved plate or a framed photo of their cat. Some urn models come with a brass plate ready for engraving the pet's name and birth and death dates as well as a side slot to frame a favorite photo of the cat.

It's often wise to decide on a budget prior to shopping for a cat cremation urn so that grief doesn't dictate purchasing a style of urn that is beyond one's financial means. Any pet owner who has suffered the loss of a cat owes it to himself and his pet to take time in selecting a pet urn that will offer an appropriate final resting place.

One of the things that most dog owners in question is by how they are willing to dispose of dog feces at the time and place specified (usually outside the home). Many dogs who do not dispose of water, albeit invited walk for long hours and then discard the water once they arrived in the house. Some dogs do not have control of discipline is most probably thinking this week and are trained to make their owners very frustrating.

No matter what how sweet our dog is, maintain will not be fun when the dog's urine or excrement in the corners of the house including the living room, dining room, or even over carpet.

When dogs pot need? From the observation of dogs usually dispose of water (big / small) at the time: up to sleep, after eating or drinking, when the pure jump / run-up here, and after a lot of play / joke.

Here are tips to train dogs to defecate small and large in place and the time has been determined.

1. Practice your dog as early as possible. Experts stated that the more we train schedule early urine and defecation dog, the sooner they take control of this discipline. Children aged between 7-8 dog-week schedules are generally able to control the void after they are trained only a few days.

2. Routine is the best techniques to manage the schedule defecate. During the 7 or the first 10 weeks, cage your dog, but do not leave more than one hour after eating, latrine. Instead of jail, you can lock your dog in the room that can be locked, such as kitchens, warehouses, etc... If you must leave it to time, place several sheets of newspapers used so it can dispose of water when he was forced to pots.

Bring your dog out at the time that you specify. Schedule of training is the best in the morning when up to sleep, each interval 2 or 3 hours throughout the day, after lunch or sleep after the play and a half hours after eating and drinking.

Define the right place at the page for your dog pot. Do not change the place because the flavor of urine / feces of dogs that will help them remember their routine activities at that spot.

Stand tacit are without any movement. Be patient when your dog is likely not intend to do anything for long time. Children male dog is generally take longer to pee than the female. Do not sit because it will be encouraged to jump on your lap to play. When your silence, your dog will feel bored and naturally they will remember the goal you take the concern. And when you finally dispose of dog feces, react with tap / stroke his head as a compliment

Along with the passing days, the distance jail time can be extended from the start 1 hour into 2 hours or even 3 hours. During the next 2 months, extend the jail time to 4 hours. Meanwhile, place the remains of former newspaper during the time when he should dispose of water.

During the next 2 months, he brackets for 6 hours, even when this newspaper used can be reduced. Schedule to go out of the house: the morning after the morning wake-sleep, after lunch, noon, afternoon, evening after dinner and before bed.

After this period through the dog usually taken to control the schedule dispose became only 4 times a day, the morning-morning, noon, afternoon and before bed. Although you do not need to bring out each finished eating, remember that you take out a dog to defecate at least 3 times a day. Remember that as a small child, a dog must dispose of water when he felt the encouragement.

3. Walks in the street.

Generally, the needs of your dog defecate arise some time after the exit from the house and walk in the street

Dogs have the absorption different. Some dog rapid control of this new discipline is likely some will never learn. However, sooner or later, your dog must possess the ability new impetus with regard to their natural that, if you treat them with patience and love. Remember that animals also have the instinct is not possible to sully the place where they sleep

Remembering your pet with a pet urn is a thoughtful way to help your family deal with the loss of a beloved family member. A pet urn is a forever memorial that will reward your deceased pet a place of honor in your home and life for years to come. Though it is not difficult remembering your pet, with a pet urn the cremated remains of your beloved dog, cat, rabbit, or other cherished companion can be preserved in the vessel of many quality decorative objects, many of which do not look like a traditional urn.

It used to be more difficult remembering your pet with a pet urn. Pet cremation was uncommon and veterinary professionals less equipped to help grieving pet owners with much more than a reference to the nearest pet cemetery. Often due to rarity, interring your pet at a pet cemetery meant few visits due to distance, so these facilities were more of a storage solution and not appropriate for remembering your pet. With a pet urn, there is every-day access to your pet's remains, and your dearly departed friend will always be nearby.

If you plan on taking the cremated remains of your deceased pet to a favorite spot, a pet urn is a respectful way to transport them. Remembering your pet with a pet urn need not necessarily mean keeping your pet's ashes on display. A pet urn is a vessel that can be used to carry ashes for a set length of time and then kept after the ashes have been dispersed as an eternal token of remembrance.

The typical shape of a traditional funerary urn need not be the rule for your pet urn. From ornate decorative containers to whimsical animal-shaped urns, there are many varieties for remembering your pet. With a pet urn, the personality of both pet and owner can be shown through the choice of pet urn made, and the quality can make a pet urn nearly indistinguishable from other decorative objects if you want your pet's memorial to be secret.

Though remembering your pet with a pet urn is not the only way to show how much you cherished your companion during his or her faithful life, it is a helpful way to deal with the grieving process after the departure of your deeply-loved animal. Choosing a pet urn that suits your needs is a very personal process, but one that will assure honor for your pet for many years into the future.

Adding a figurine to a pet urn combines the celebration of your pets life while easing the loss. There are a few things you should consider when choosing a figurine for your pets urn. The perfect figurine will be one that reflects the personality and invokes fond memories of your beloved pet.

First you should consider the material used to make the figurine. Most figurines come in either stone, ceramic, metal or wood. If you plan to put your urn outdoors you want the figurine to be made of a material that will withstand the elements. Stone or ceramic would be the best because rain, wind and temperature won't affect them as badly. However, you want to make sure that any paint on the figurine is weatherproof so that it will be long lasting. There are some wood figurines that can be weather treated, but my require more care over the years to make sure that the elements don't wear them down. Metal figurines should not be put outdoors because they will tarnish and rust in rain and snow. If you are placing your urn indoors any of the materials would be suitable and your choice will depend on your personal preference.

Secondly you should consider the size of the figurine. If you will be placing the urn on a mantle or shelf you want to choose a smaller figurine and make sure that it will fit. Some are larger than others, and would work best on tables or stands, while smaller figurines would sit perfectly on a fireplace mantle or narrow shelf.

You should also consider the size of the urn. You want to pick a figurine of an appropriate size so it is proportional to the urn itself. Small urns should have small figurines while larger urns should have medium sized figurines. You should make sure the figurine fits properly on the urn and that the urn is strong enough to hold it.

Once you have the material and size decided upon, you should think carefully about the figurine itself. You want to get one that closely resembles your pet. Some figurines are sitting and laying while some are frolicking and playful, you want to chose one that reminds you of your pet and will honor them appropriately.

By carefully considering all of these things when choosing a figurine for your urn you can create a meaningful lifelong memory that can constantly remind you of your beloved friend.

When a beloved dog dies, it isn't just an animal. He is a special part of a family, and lives in a special place in our hearts. That is why having him cremated and kept in an urn lets us take him home again and be placed in a spot that may have been his favorite during life.

Many people who have never owned or loved a dog, don't realize how much it hurts to lose one. That's why cremation is an option when the dog dies. And that's why there is such a great variety of dog cremation urns to place the dog's ashes into. Having that urn at home always is a reminder of the love that the animal has given us.

There are so many beautiful dog cremation urns to choose from. Sometimes the choice depends a lot on our budget. Whichever urn is chosen would still look nice on a mantel or a shelf on a bookcase. A popular choice for a dog cremation urn is the custom painted urn. The vendor will create an exact replica of the dog, paint it the same colors, and have his name engraved on the side. Some urns have the dog lying in a basket, or sleeping on a rock. Since these are custom made, they may cost a little more, but seeing the dog's image on the urn is a special memory.

There are very attractive dog cremation urns made of marble. They come in different shapes, such as rectangular, vase-shaped, box-shaped, and even small marble jars. Sometimes this depends on the size of the dog. The marble urns come in a variety of beautiful colors such as amethyst, beige, cobalt, emerald, black, gray, rose, pink, merlot, navy, dark green, teal, white and many other varieties of shades. These colorful urns can also have a white swirl background in them to make them even prettier.

The urns also come in religious themes with angels, a bible or a cross on them. The other types of dog cremation urns come in biodegradable, natural stone, bronze, ceramic, cloisonne, glass, metal, brass and wooden. There are also such unique urns such as keepsake urns. Nameplates and appliques are also purchased to be placed on the urn to name the dog, and his date of birth and date of death. With so many dog cremation urns to choose from, it is easy to keep the adored pet still close to the family with this urn in the home.

Anyone who has ever lost a pet before knows that it is a traumatic and sad experience. There are many options for memorials and ways to honor your lost loved one, and pet urns are just one of those many ways. Pet urns come in many different shapes and sizes, very similar to the urns used for human remains. When choosing a pet urn, there are many things to consider and you have to figure out which way will best represent the pet you considered family.

Just like everything these days, a pet urn can be bought online. If you decide to look for a pet urn online, be careful to read the descriptions carefully and try to gauge whether or not what you are getting is what you are really looking for. You can also find pet urns in places like veterinary offices, catalogs, and even funeral homes. You even have the option of getting matching urns so that you and your pet can be by each other once you pass.

When looking for a pet urn, think about things like your pet's personality, what shape and size you want (this is important if you have a particular place in the house you want your pet urn to be stored or displayed), sturdiness or quality of the pet urn (it would be awful if the unthinkable thing happened and it got knocked over).

Need ideas for the look of your pet urn? Try getting one that can hold a photo of your pet and you together (you can get the picture descaled on in color or black and white, or a simpler version would have a built in picture frame). You can also get an inscription done. For example, In Loving Memory of Spot could be something you have engraved into the side of your pet urn. If you want, you can also do things like get a necklace that matches a part of the urn, or you could even have some of the ashes placed into a locket. This is completely sanitary, and only you would know that part of your pet's ashes are inside.

Pet urns have a wide variety of choices available. With this in mind, there is a wide variety of prices as well. They can get expensive, but they don't have to. Even someone without a whole lot of money can afford to get an urn for their beloved pet and friend. Overall, the list of possibilities is pretty much open ended. There are many different pet urns to choose from and which one you choose is ultimately up to you and your family.

Do you have a new addition to your family in the form of cute, furry puppy? Your pup may be cute now, but not for long if it is continually making mistakes and accidents on your expensive carpet. The most important thing you can do when introducing your pet to its new home is to properly housebreak it. It might not be easy to stop the potty mess, but with patience and perseverance, it can be done.

Most people introduce their pups to newspapers. Usually what is done is old newspaper is laid out on the floor, especially in the area where your pet likes to frequent as his restroom. Also, there are scented drops that may be purchased at any pet store retailer that can be applied to the newspaper. The scent gives off an odor to the dog, so when he must do his business, it will encourage him to use only the newspaper, and not your expensive Berber carpet as his bathroom. Although the newspaper can be used as a training device, it really is only a quick and temporary fix to a puppy messing in the house, and shouldn't be considered for the long term.

A more popular, and proven method to stop the potty messes, for the long term, is to kennel or crate train your puppy. Not only will this teach your pet restraint, but it will encourage him not to mess where he sleeps or eats. Crate training should never, in any way, be used as punishment, but as a method to encourage your pup to hold his business, and create a safe and comfortable space that is truly his own.

Be sure to lay some comfortable old towels or blankets in the crate, along with your pets favorite toys. Introduce your pet to the crate by placing a cookie inside, and securing the gate behind him. Let him become acquainted for about 15 to 30 minutes despite his cries and anguish. When you go to release him, walk with him to the outside area very quickly, and then encourage him to do his business there. Be sure to make a big deal about it when he does his business in the right place. Repeat this several times a day, adding increments of about 15 minutes to his stay in the crate, not to ever exceed four hours. Never stop praising your pet when he does his business outdoors, as positive reinforcement will only continue to encourage him.

Regardless if your dog is a pup, or just needs to be retrained, the process of housebreaking is a fairly simple process. However, it will take awhile and will require patience from both of you. The loss of a pet can be devastating, especially when that pet has been with your family for many years. There is no better way to memorialize your pet than to have his remains cremated and placed into a photo pet urn, or have him buried and display your love with a photo documentary of his life that marks his final resting place.

Pet cremation is not an unusual as you may think. There are many crematory services, many located in local pet cemeteries that offer cremation services. Many of these services will also offer a wide range of urns for keeping your pets ashes at home. The urns will come in many shapes and sizes, but the ones with photo holders are the best for keeping the memory of your beloved pet alive. Photos of your pet displayed on the urn itself is a stunning tribute to the life of the pet that has brought you joy.

The urn will usually be constructed out of a weather resistant material such as metal or plastic and will have one or more weather resistant photo pouches designed to keep the photos of your pet safe from the elements whether indoors or out. It is the perfect addition to any memorial you have made for your deceased pet. With a photo urn, it is easy to replace pictures of your pet. This can be especially important if the urn is resting outside where the constant exposure to the elements will degrade the pictures over time. Photos of you and your pet can be rotated to prevent the loss of your pictures.

If you choose to bury your pet, either in a cemetery or on your private property, a photo pet urn can become the marker for his final resting place, letting everyone know just how special he was to you and your family. The ability to memorialize your pet with vibrant and dynamic photos, letting everyone know why he was so special is something that cannot be duplicated by a stone or handmade marker.

If you are considering cremation for your pet, or have decided that a preformed or homemade marker is just not personal enough, talk to your local pet cremation service today about your options and prices. A photo pet urn may add a significant cost to your pets final expenses, but the immortalize of your pet and tribute to his life is priceless.

The way you choose to memorialize your lost pet will be a reflection of the special times the two of you shared together. You may choose to remember your beloved pet by helping other animals find loving homes. Perhaps you prefer to create a living memorial in remembrance of your pet and his or her unique characteristics. Here are a few suggestions of how to memorialize your lost pet.

One practical idea is to donate money to a local animal shelter in honor of your pet. It's an excellent way to memorialize your dog or cat while offering help to others in need of a good home. This particular way of memorializing your pet is especially meaningful if you adopted your dog or cat from an animal shelter. Donating food, pet equipment, or even your time to an animal shelter are also ways to pay tribute to a longtime, loyal pet.

A creative way to memorialize your lost pet is to write a poem. Consider all of the times that he or she was there to keep you company or just give you a laugh. Once you've written the poem, have it engraved on a decorative stone and find a place for it in your garden. If you'd like to enjoy the poem inside your house, copy it in onto a sheet of fancy parchment paper and frame it. For an additional personal touch, you might include a photo or sketch of your pet next to the poem.

The third idea for memorializing your lost pet is to plant a tree in his or her honor. Perhaps your pet liked to exercise in a particular park or nearby woods. You'll need to check with the property owners, but a tree serves as a living remembrance of your pet that others are able to see and appreciate. If your pet preferred to stay within the confines of your yard, you may want to plant a tree or some flowers in a particular spot there.

Perhaps you have in mind a more private way to memorialize your lost pet. After all, you and your pet shared plenty of days together that were special for just the two of you. A photo album is both an imaginative and personal item that will help you to remember the fun times with your pet. The photo album, or scrap book, could be separated into the various seasons of your pet's life. For instance, if you had a dog you could include photos of him or her as a puppy then as an adult dog. Opening up a memorial photo album is one of the most comforting ways to remember treasured times spent with your pet.

The perfect pet urn is one that reflects the personality of your pet. You can often find them at your local veterinarian or a pet funeral home but you will pay top dollar. Consider making your purchase online which will often include a much larger selection to choose from. Pet urns come in many different materials, shapes and colors and making a decision during a moment of loss can often be difficult.

When you lose a pet the loss is often sudden and making decisions on burial or cremation can be a difficult undertaking but even having a pet memorial that will house mementos, photos and keepsakes can often help with the pain. Pet urns come in many styles such as burial, memorial even biodegradable depending on if it will be for display or buried. The most common materials are stone, metal, wood or ceramic. Often metals will be brass, bronze or copper. The use of wood is common and the list of woods used is too many to list here. Ceramic pet urns are very common and are often made into vase shapes or figurines or something a little more personal.

Consider where you will eventually place your pet urn. This is critical and depending on where you place it should help you decide what material you would choose. If you choose a stone or metal urn this may be a great choice for outdoors and wood or ceramic is better left for indoor if it will be for display. Metal urns could gracefully tarnish outdoors or the tarnish could be removed with the appropriate cleaner. Most metals will tarnish or start showing signs within weeks of being placed outdoors. If you decide to go with metal consider a likely cleaning compound on a regular basis. One way to protect many surfaces outdoors it with acrylic wax and this could be applied with a sponge and applied slowly to avoid bubbles from forming. Wax will not last forever but adds another layer of protection but always test an inconspicuous area to make sure it will work wit the coatings oft he urn.

Photo pet urns are becoming quite popular. They are often made of many materials and have a place holder for a photo of your beloved pet. They may also have an area to engrave either a likeness of your pet and some loving words. This is often done with laser engraving. Most materials using this process are either stone or wood.

If you are looking for a burial urn than material will not matter much unless you want some degree or preservation. Often people will plant a small tree or shrub over the it or place a memorial stone over it. Some people will even place yard ornaments or some other ornament over it as a marker.

If you have lost your cat, dog rabbit or even a lizard or some other friend from the animal kingdom there are many options to choose from when you search and buy online often leaving you feeling overwhelmed with the amount of choices. Buying a pet urn online does not have to be a difficult process when honoring the memory of your pet.

Dealing With The Loss Of Your Pet

Dealing With The Loss Of Your PetAs a society we know that with all life comes death, it is inevitable. When the death that occurs is a spouse, family member or close friend it is natural to feel sorrow, express grief, and expect family and friends to provide understanding and comfort. The same does not always hold true if the death that has occurred is that of a pet. You as an owner may experience the same feelings of loss, but encounter less support dealing with the loss of your pet in some instances because others might not understand how important the pet really was. People love their pets and some even consider them immediate members of the family, which depending on the type of animal, may have been for years.

Pets provide companionship, acceptance, emotional support, and unconditional love during the years they share with you. If you understand and accept the bond between pets and owner, you can take the first steps toward dealing with the loss of your pet by knowing that it is okay to grieve when a pet dies. The next step is to understand how you grieve and find ways to cope with the loss so it can bring you closer to the day when the memories of your pet bring happy thoughts instead of tears of sorrow.

Children And Pet Death

Children And Pet DeathWhen the loss of a family pet occurs with children involved, it is important to remember that this loss is probably one of the child's first experience with death and as such should be handled with great care as they can be far more sensitive than an adult would be. With children and pet death the child may blame themselves, the parents, or even the veterinarian for not saving the pet. They may feel guilty, depressed, and frightened that others they love may be taken from them.

Never try to protect your child by saying the pet ran away because honesty is important for their future development. This may cause your child to expect the pet to return or even wonder what they did to make it leave. This will extend the grief period even longer than usual, or even instill a feeling of parental betrayal if they do discover the truth. It will also make it harder for a child to accept a new pet in the future, because they may believe that loving a new pet would be a betrayal to their old friend.

If you had to put the pet to sleep, make sure your child understands the difference between ordinary sleep and death, or you risk the child themselves being fearful of going to sleep and not waking up. Make it clear that the pet will not come back or wake up, but that the pet is happy and free of pain.

Expressing your own grief with your child will reassure them that feeling sadness at this time is okay and help them work through their own feelings.

Pet Loss And Grief Recovery

Pet Memorial Urns OnlineFinding a way to say goodbye and remember your pet is also important for yourself and your family during the grieving process, and there a number of things that you can do to honor their memory.

  • Put Together An Album Of Memories. Creating a photo album, scrapbook, or collage of your pet allows you to focus more so on the good times and can be very therapeutic for dealing with the grief and loss.
  • Plant A Living Memorial. Let others know how much your pet was loved and cared for as well as help restore greenspace by planting a tree in their memory.
  • Provide A Special Place For Your Pet's Ashes. Keep the ashes of your pet in a beautiful pet urn or within pet keepsake jewelry. You can also get weatherproof pet cremation urns if you intend to bury your pet in a special place on your property.
  • Hold A Memorial Service. One of the most important steps in grief recovery is to hold a memorial service so that you or your family can say goodbye to your pet. This is also the perfect time to share the memories you wrote about or the album you put together.

Introducing A New Pet Into The Family

A New Best FriendAfter the grieving process is over and enough time has passed, pet owners usually ponder whether or not they should get a new pet, especially if children are involved or how to go about introducing a new pet into the family. It is important to remember that children need more time to adjust to the loss because getting a new pet too soon can cause feelings of disloyalty or guilt and create problems in bonding with the new pet. Depending on the age of the child, they may also think that if something were to happen to them, they would soon be forgotten and a replacement found. They need to understand that friendships cannot be immediately replaced. Another important thing to remember is that you are not replacing your old pet, and as such you should avoid getting a look-a-like or the exact same breed.

A new pet should only be introduced when everyone in the family is ready to move forward and build another new long lasting bond with a new friend and member of the family. If it was a family pet, plan an outing to a local pet store, or even animal shelter to pick out your new pet together. You will be surprised at how this as well helps even further with the grieving process and moving on.
