With its own breed club, the Havanese Club of America, this breed of dog was originally developed in Cuba. Now recognized by the American Kennel Club, Alaska Havanese puppies registered with AKC are available.

These are strong little dogs that were bred to withstand the hot weather in Cuba. Their insulation, which is silky and not as full as those breeds of colder climates, can help protect them against colder weather. However, they should not be expected to take very cold temperatures and, as such, should be kept as inside dogs during harsh weather.

All cats are wonderful, but ragdoll cats are the most delightful. They are soft, loving, and good tempered, with long lush coats that are a pleasure to touch.
