So you have a dog with a little bit of a problem. You've seen these guys on TV pushing their products and they make it look so easy, so now you're wondering: is a dog training DVD a good way to learn? Well, the answer is yes, if you are willing to put in the time and patience.

There are many reasons that people don't want to go to a trainer. First, and foremost is the expense. A good trainer will not be cheap. If they're cheap they can't be that good, and this is an area that you don't want to skimp on.

If you are considering taking classes, think it through. There is the drive time (hopefully, your dog's problem doesn't involve car rides), and the loading and unloading no matter what the weather. If you're unlucky, it will rain on class night and you get to smell wet dog in your car, plus after they get out. And remember, if you go to class you are on their time then, not yours. If you can't make a class, will it throw you behind? How fast can you get in? What if one of the dogs there transforms into a demon when your dog enters the room? And if the class doesn't work out you will probably not be eligible for a refund.

Another great thing about doing your dog training by DVD is that it will save you time and money. As far as time goes, you won't have to drive back and forth to see a dog trainer and spend hours of your time away from home. It will save you money because you won't have to pay for private trainer to help you with your dog.

Another great thing about training DVDs is that you can go back and review the material as often as you wish. We all know that training and all practice and repetition, so having the DVDs on hand will allow you to run through the motions of each session in the time you wish.

So, if you want to know if a dog training DVD a good way to learn, it really depends on what you consider a good use of your time. You can either spend it carting your canine back and forth to class, or you spend that time more wisely in the comfort of your own home.

Is your dog barking excessively and you would like them to quit? A loud pet will disrupt your family life, create tension with the neighbors and frustrate even the utmost patient of people. If your pet has a barking problem that's making you crazy, here's how to remedy matters and recoup some peace and quiet in your life.

When it comes to excessive barking, the answer is like any ordinary deterrent for undesirable behavior in your dog. There are a variety of dog bark control techniques that you'll be able to use to stop your pet's unwanted vocalization. Basic training ways can be used to regulate a barking dog and to show your pet when enough is enough. Eventually your dog will be trained to respond to hand signals or voice commands that permit them to know it is time to stop. This methodology takes time and regularity on your behalf but works for most pets and many sorts of problem habits.

If your pet does not respond to ordinary coaching, there are training aids like dog bark control collars that you may buy and use to teach your pet what is expected and to stop barking. Nowadays's bark collars are safe and effective. In addition to the typical and somewhat controversial static collars, you'll choose from collars that use sound or bursts of air (with or without citronella) to dissuade barking. Collars activate themselves when the dog barks rendering them helpful for controlling this habit even when you're not home.

Shock Collars

A shock collar operates by delivering a little static jolt to the dog when it detects a bark. This shock has been likened to the intensity of a static shock you may feel when walking across carpet and touching metal. It may be unpleasant, but it will no actual harm to the pet at all. Most models of shock collars have a user adjustable setting to work out how much static to deliver to the dog.

Citronella Collars

Dogs simply plain loathe the scent of citronella, thus these collars work by releasing a small burst of this smell directly within the direction of the pet's nose once they bark. Soon, a dog begins to associate the barking with "that repulsive smell" and the dog will avoid creating noise to avoid the scent.

Sonic Collars

A dog has more touchy ears than an individual does and they will hear frequencies that we tend to will not. A sonic collar works by delivering an inaudible sound that is unpleasant for the dog when it detects them barking. This sound will do no more injury to their ears than their barking is doing to yours, but it is likewise not enjoyable for the dog. In an effort to avoid the sound, a dog learns not to bark.

Before going to these lengths it can be helpful to strive and perceive precisely why your pet is acting up. Thus, what causes some dogs to bark excessively? A dog will vocalize for a number of various ordinary and perfectly natural reasons. They could bark to provide you with a warning of danger or to get your attention. Some also persevere out of boredom or excitement. While they do not do it just to bother you, overzealous barking can be downright frustrating for a pet owner who simply desires a flash of peace. Luckily with a bit of coaching and time, you'll be able to successfully rein in this practice and recoup your sanity.

An increasing number of dog owners appear to prefer training schools, more than the do-it-yourself strategy. Dog training schools can be very costly. However, in the event you are lacking the needed expertise, or the time to dedicate for this activity, these types of schools can be found to carry out every thing for you.

Training schools for most dogs have begun appearing throughout nearly every town over North America and also Europe. Adding quite a bit of hype as well as pitch to their claims, many actually offer you all your money back if they don't do well. Some of these schools may be the sole option for pet owners, whose lack of experience leaves them no other solution.

Several pet owners assert that the amount of money charged by these schools is excessive and unjustified. Nevertheless, if perhaps you take an instant thinking about the actual expenses, including nutrition, equipment, and also training locale, you'd soon come to realize not all the actual fees go into their - the company - purses. There are essential costs, as well as the job salaries for seasoned dog handlers. Seeing as a background check happens to be performed on the trainer, exactly what better place will there be for your dog to find out to behave?

Be ready to face the consequences with taking your dog to training school. Certain dogs could feel the stress piling up and act accordingly. Equip yourself with a bag and also a scoop, as these will be the most usual indications of tension. Continue to keep your dog on a lead, and notice just what interests him or her and what doesn't. It is likely they might not like some of his fellow schoolmates a lot and would like to do something about it.

Ultimately, never pass on a bad attitude toward the animal, attempt to relax and enjoy your self and the dog should probably do precisely the same. Always keep your pet amused by drawing their focus towards you, at least until he or she has had a chance to become familiar with the atmosphere.

With fresh laws coming forth relating to public behavior regarding dogs, training classes are the final and only useful resource for some pet owners. For breeds for example the Boxer, or the Pit Bull, dog keepers will want to place more caution on their instruction so that it will save their dog from being put to sleep by local authorities should anything terrible happen.

If you are trying to find the right dog training book, you might not really know where to begin with all of the options that are available. The unfortunate fact is that many people write books by just throwing together rehashed information instead of coming up with something new. However, there are some books which are full of valuable information if you know where to look.

One of the best places to find a dog training book is by looking online. E-books contain the most up-to-date information because they are so easy to edit. Physical books can go out of date quickly, so finding an online e-book can provide you with instant information that you're looking for.

Before choosing a dog training method, it is important to consider the type of breed you are trying to train. Dog breeds have specific characteristics that are ingrained in them due to their genetic heritage. Therefore, it is advisable to find a dog training book that is specific to the breed you are working with.

As an example, Jack Russell terriers were bred to chase foxes which means that their noses sometimes take precedence over their brain. Beagles suffer from the same issue. Therefore, it makes sense to use training methods that are specific to these kinds of dog breeds and can overcome their intuitive sense of smell.

Before you purchase any kind of a dog training book, you want to first be sure that you have read over the material and know whether or not you will be comfortable with the training style being suggested. It is important that you can follow through with the training methods in the book.

Another thing to consider is who actually wrote the book that you are thinking of buying. You want to make sure that the author actually has experience with what they are writing about and is not simply putting together information in book form.

No matter what dog training method you use, you want to make sure that it does not include punishment. Disciplining a dog is a good idea, but punishment is not. It breaks down the relationship between the owner and the pet. You can find the right dog training book if you keep these tips in mind.

When looking for tips and tricks on dog potty training, it is important to know that you are not alone in your efforts to try to keep your dog from using the bathroom in your house. It can be very irritating to have an animal that simply doesn't seem to learn where they need to go when it's time to eliminate.

Children need to be potty trained and so do dogs. However, a dog's potty is the great outdoors. There are many different methods that you can use to house train a dog. The one that you use will depend on your own dog's personality and how comfortable you feel with the method as their owner.

Some people use puppy pads as a way of getting the dog to know where to go. They move the puppy pads closer and closer to the door until the dog finally figures out that they need to go to the door when it's time to use the bathroom. However, these kinds of methods don't always work for every dog.

When it comes to potty training a dog, finding just the right method is crucial. There many different online programs that owners can use to potty train their dog. Doing some research to find a method that will work is important because you wanted to be something that you will stick with until the dog is trained.

Physical punishment should never be a part of your training method as dogs do not respond well to physical punishment. It does not create a good relationship between the owner and the canine if the dog is always fearful. Also, dogs respond well to praise because they want to please their owners so it makes sense to use that kind of a method.

One of the most important parts of training a new puppy is taking them outside on a regular basis. If the dog learns that they go to the bathroom at certain times of the day, they will be much more likely to retain the information and keep that same schedule. You can also start using a word such as potty to let them know that when you say that it is time to go outside. There are so many tips and tricks on dog potty training that you can find, but the key is finding the one that you feel will work for your situation.

Dog biting is probably the most serious of all dog behavioral problems. Peeing on the carpet, going on the couch or any other behavioral problem will not raise such dire results as biting, as many communities demand to put down a dog if it bites someone seriously. If your dog exhibits biting tendency then it might cost his life, which makes it vital to train your dog to not bite anyone ever.

On the other hand, biting problems are common and quite normal in case of puppies. This problem arises mostly during their teething period when they have an uncontrollable urge to chew and bite on anything and everything. Though a puppy bite might break your skin it will not pose any other serious problems. However, this is the right time and age to train your puppy not to bite ever again

You do not have to be cruel or give harsh punishments to train your puppy. They are very sensitive creatures and all you need to make them repent is a firm No! or a censorious Bad Dog, whenever they try to bite you. When your puppy bites you, pull your hand away and repeat the firm phrase again and again which will make him realize that he is hurting you.

Most often, biting problems in dogs are caused due to psychological problems. Mostly, dogs do not bite just to hurt someone. They try to bite when they want to hold on to something or they bite to warn someone of something. They also take a bit just to play. If you do not take the effort to correct the biting problem when your dog is still a puppy, then this problem might escalate to cause grave problems

But then, some dogs are naturally aggressive and bite because they are inherently temperamental. To take care of such dogs you have to send them to an obedience school.

You have to take this problem very seriously and take steps to find the best help. Getting help from professional dog trainers are probably the only option to solve this problem.

In case your neighborhood has a dog with biting problem, your defence is to keep a pepper spray handy. Do not hesitate to use the pepper spray when a dog tries to bite you. If you are squeamish about using a pepper spray, then try to make friends with that particular dog with the help of a beef jerky.

Most professional dog trainers believe that a good rapport between the dog and its trainer is of utmost importance. Many dog owners believe that training is too challenging and wish they had good dog training abilities. Dog training usually is not effective if there are no treats. You shouldn't over do dog training, or you will fail. You need to use positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement and punishment to train dogs as per some guides or books. Some texts state that you are head of a household, not your canine. Dogs feel more comfortable in a familiar environment.

You will be having better results when you provide training to your dog alone so that the dog is not sidetracked by other dogs and thus your dog would be able to focus upon and learn new tricks. If you have a large dog, it is important for them to be obedient, since they can get you into a lot of trouble. Dogs that don't experience decent attention from humans during the first two months of their life are often more adaptable to being trained and living in a people household. The disorder breakup anxiety, which a dog can suffer. Normally, dogs will not hold as much respect for children and younger kids as they will for an adult or an older teenager. To take control of your dogs behavior by active dog training. You need to be the one who trains the dog and not vice versa.

Adult and child canines are playful animals. They learn much when they interact with other individuals and especially pooches. Puppies, for instance, learn a lot of their social behavior from their mother and other puppies they are raised with. If a puppy lashes out and bites another young puppy, chances are very good that he or she will get bitten back very quickly. This will teach the puppy that it is the correct behavior to bite back at certain times. A new puppy considers you as its parent, so it is important to take this role seriously by providing the best training possible.

Dog breeds vary in that some are smarter than others. It is important to accept that a compromise may possibly required at some point as you can still achieve some degree of behavior therapy. Training your do without assistance requires regular consistent routines.

It's not a good idea to train your dog when your stressed out or not in a good mood. Dogs are usually scared by yelling. Their trust is unconditional so it is important to maintain that trust. However, your pet must be aware who it's master is, so the best option is to be a firm owner but not too stern, not like a dictator. Being an important part of their mental health, let your dog have fun and enjoy what they like doing. In addition to a nutritious diet; physical exercise is also important. Like people, canines have their own set of quirks and issues.

Dogs are mankind's best friend. A well behaved dog is a lot better than having a disobedient dog. I don't care what kind of dog breed you have. To those who want to groom and train their dogs so they can become better and well behaved pets, turn to "Secrets to Dog Training".

Secrets to Dog Training is an online dog training guide written by Daniel Stevens. In reality, the program is a 186 page e-book that teaches pet owners the correct way to deal with a rowdy dog's training and behavior problems.

This e-book is broken up into assorted parts and each deals with a different aspect. The first chapters of this e-book mainly revolves on some aspects like picking out a breed, canine growth phases, responsible ownership and many more fascinating dog facts.

The following chapters of Secrets to Dog Training would speak about dog training. It's divided into different sections so it makes it easy to reference and select each dog training method you want to help you completely understand this part of the e-book. Feel free to test them all out if you want.

Before reviewing Secrets to Dog Training, I asked myself what is what that led me to finding this dog training guide. I had no idea that when I got my first dog Cobra that he would be unruly and a pain in my side when I took him home. If I may jump to the ending of this anecdote, my dog would never listen to me and I didn't know what to do or where to turn. Prior to getting a Cobra I always desired to own a dog. Dogs are great friends and good at protecting homes, but some dog owners need to pay more attention to their pet's behavior.

I looked into dog obedience schools, but thought it would be better to train him myself. Some of them didn't cover every thing that I had hoped however some of them did have use full content in them and i tried reading books about dog training. I can never really tell how my dog will turn out and I tried just about every technique there is for dog obedience training and read virtually hundreds of books on how to train your dog.

My best friend introduced me to Secrets to Dog Training it worked miracles on her miniature dachshund. Secrets to Dog Training is also filled with great tricks and tips that really do work!

If you're like me your dog is more like a family member than a pet. It can be very aggregating for both my dog and me when we can't be on the same page. However Secrets to Dog Training has changed all that. My experience with this training guide has been extraordinary. I have learned more in just a few days than I have ever known about dogs, and how they can react in cretin situations. As soon as I started applying the dog training techniques in this amazing guide I had great results. For more information on how to properly train your dog visit dogtrainingperfected.com

Once it comes to dog obedience training people usually do what they believe is right contrary to all of the of opinions and advice that may be given to them. I'm not saying that people don't try different methods of dog training. However nine times out of ten the end results were always the same.

My dog cobra had a big problem in barking when he saw strangers due to chewing of non dog toys, snapping. He additionally had some other routine dog behavior issues. The obnoxious barking was probably the worst quality. Anything at all that he saw from the window, whether it was a little bird or a bunch of people, would set him off barking. A close acquaintance of mine suggested the possibility of using a training collar for my canine, but I think that is cruel and inhumane. Why buy a puppy if you don't intend to care for him properly?

Nobody wanted to come to my home any more because my dog Cobra was so rambunctious and impossible to handle. I found a program online that worked for Cobra, I had tried training books and was almost ready to enroll him in obedience school.

I found a great book for dog and puppy training. The title is "Secrets to Dog Training." The training methods in the book are at a high caliber. I learned some up-to-date techniques which are really user-friendly and was able to train my dog Cobra like the professional trainers in a short amount of time.

My dog now obeys me both at home and in public. It will very easy for my to follow these techniques by using plenty of photos. You can also view some videos on the subject. Where other advise and guides are proved as failures this online software worked wonderfully. Basically if you are have any kind of behavioral problems with you dog this online guide most likely has the answer for you.

What kind of a problem is your dog having? Too violent? Out of control? Regardless of age or type of dog, it does not matter what the issue is. You can learn the secrets of professional dog trainers without spending the money. These easy-to-learn techniques can help you correct dog behavior issues.

What also impressed me about this software is all the information that it gives you besides the dog and puppy training techniques. They go beyond the training knowing that besides you wanting an obedient dog you also want a healthy and happy dog. You and your dog will have fun together while teaching him basic and tricks like rolling over, crawling, shake hands, etc. You will know about all of the illness concerns of dogs and also what you need to know before you choose a veteran. Plus homemade recipes you can use to make your dog healthier.

No need to buy a bunch of separate books you get every thing dog related here. This review can not possibly give you all of the several benefits that are in the e-book but after checking out other books, I found this product book to be the best and I completely 100% recommend it. Regardless of how cute your puppy is when you bring him home, resist the temptation to delay dog potty training until later. Even very young puppies can be potty trained successfully.

A Crate

A puppy crate is a very helpful tool for dog potty training. A crate gives your dog his own "space" that he won't want to soil particularly at night. Be sure he given plenty of opportunity and encouragement to go potty before he's crated.

Choose The Right Food

You may be tempted to buy cheap dog food, but you will most likely regret it in the end. Cheap dog foods are full of fillers. Since the fillers can't be digested and processed into fuel, they pass through your dog's digestive system causing gas and creating large amounts of stool. Higher quality dog foods do not have as much filler so your dog passes much smaller stools

A Regular Schedule

Establishing a schedule for your puppy from the beginning will go a long way toward potty training him. Feeding should be done at the same times every day followed by taking him outside to relieve himself about 15-20 minutes after he eats. He should also be given the opportunity to go outside after naps and immediately upon being removed from his crate in the morning.

Clear Communication

Establish words that your dog can learn to associate with relieving himself. Use that word consistently to avoid confusing him. It's also important to learn your dog's signals that he needs to go outside; restlessness, sniffing around (especially in places he may have had an accident at some point) or going to the door can all be signals that your dog needs to go.

Constant Reinforcement

When your puppy does well, praise him. Using the word he's come to associate with elimination, "good boy to go potty outside" will help him strengthen the connection between going potty and being praised.

Successful dog potty training requires patience and persistence but the pay off is well worth the effort. Well mannered dogs are a joy both to their owners and those around them.

Puppy training should be started as soon as puppy comes home. Immediately showing your new puppy that his potty is outside is crucial in beginning the process of potty training. The process will not likely be fast, but the efforts and your patience will be well worth it.

An actual potty spot should be chosen to be puppy's potty. In order to make the potty area more attractive in your yard, you can place potted plants or flowers around where your puppy goes to poop and pee. This will also probably help the dog to remember and easily recognize the location of his potty.

Teaching the command "outside" is very important. You should say this command loudly to your puppy whenever he pees or poops inside. Then you will have to pick him up and run outside with him to make him finish going potty in his puppy training area. Then you will praise him for actually going on the potty.

Puppy training on command will eventually be the result of your time and effort. Your command word must be maintained at all times. Inform friends and other family members of this word too.

Be sure to let anyone who will be walking or watching your dog to use the exact same command word. Always give praise, and let the other people in his life know that they should do the same.

Keeping a diary if when your puppy eats, sleeps and potties can help you decide when the most average times are that he will need to poop or pee.

Again, potty training your puppy requires determination and patience. The more consistent and calm you are, the more likely your puppy will be to finish his potty training quicker.

By maintaining consistency, tempered with equal parts firmness and love, you will have succeeded at potty and puppy training before you know it. Your puppy will respond well to your firmness and love. He will endeavor to please you by learning to potty sooner. Then you will have puppy training success.

Puppy Training can have its challenges however if you start off right when puppy first comes home you will have you best chance of success. Visit http://MyPupsPalace.com and see how fast you can train your new pup!

Chasing, whether it be cats, cars or even people, is something most dogs love to do. Unfortunately though, despite dogs that chase generally not actually hurting whatever it is that they chase, they still can cause themselves or others some harm in the process.

It is very irresponsible of owners to allow their dogs the opportunity to chase. So, it is important that, as the dogs owner, you see it how others see it, as annoying and dangerous. Don't worry though, it is something that can be corrected with a little time and effort.

It is not as simple as just yelling at or hitting your dog after it has chased something. You might think that doing this would make it less likely to do it next time, but it rarely does. It's instincts will kick in again next time around and the pain it suffered last time will be soon forgotten. Taking a proactive approach, rather than a reactive one, is much better.

The very least that you should is not let your dog be in a situation that allows it to chase in the first place. With dogs who regularly chase after things, this may mean having to keep it on a leash or within a fenced yard. Keep your dog and those in the surrounding area safe until you learnt to predict his behavior and you have him trained to obey your commands.

Recognizing what your dog does immediately before it starts chasing something is the most important step. It is common for dogs to give some indication, such as a prolonged stare or a lifted leg, before they set off after something. Once you know what it is that your dog does, you can act before it does. You should be able to find this out fairly quickly as dogs are creatures of habit.

The obeying of basic commands is necessary for a dog to stop chasing. At the very least, your dog needs to respond to two - sit down and come here. Once your dog understands these skills it will be easier to stop him from chasing.

So, lets now look at how to train a dog to do what you tell it to do. First you need to find something that the dog really likes, such as a toy or treat. Place it about 10 ft. from the dog, and then allow it to go towards it. Then either command it to come or sit down. When it obeys your command, speak in a warm tone to it and let it have the toy or treat.

After having done this with just you and your dog, ask a friend for their assistance. Your dog should be standing or sitting by you, then your friend should past waving a toy or treat in their hand. If it starts to chase then give the dog the command to either sit down or come. On obeying your command, give it the reward. Should it ignore you and continue to chase then be sure not to give it a reward, even if you feel sorry for it.

This might take some time and patience, but your persistence will pay off. Just stay positive, patient and stick with it and you'll get there.

Though they don't have as bad a reputation as Pit Bulls or Rottweilers, German Shepherds are still seen by many to be, on the whole, ill-behaved.

In fact, it is more of a reputation of being aggressive that German Shepherds have acquired. Owners of these dogs will mostly deny that German Shepherd aggression is a concern, but, unfortunately, the number of incidents of these dogs attacking people and other dogs can't be ignored. However, whilst genetics are a factor, the biggest problem is mis-training, or even no training, by their owners.

It is important to point out that not all (not even most) German Shepherds display inappropriate aggressive behavior. It is wholly unfair to let the misdemeanours of the minority result in the entire breed being labeled as "dangerous" or "aggressive".Still, all owners of these dogs should be aware that it may potentially be a problem and, as such, should learn about and try to recognize the signs of German shepherd aggression.

Aggression can take many forms. Some German Shepherds will be aggressive only towards other animals. Some will only become aggressive if a person or animal approaches them while they are eating. Others act aggressively towards humans - mostly strangers, but in some cases even towards members of the family of the household that they are living in.

Don't discount even minor forms of aggression, say to a cat or the postman, because these could easily escalate into something more serious. At the first sign of aggression being displayed, or even before this, you need to embark on a course of proper training. Not only could is save injury to other people and animals, it could also save your own dog's life.

Some owners make the mistake of yelling at or hitting their German Shepherd when he displays aggressive behavior. For the most part, this makes the overall situation worse, as the dog becomes less trusting of humans. Also, a person is not going to win a "fight" with a German Shepherd. If he attacks you, you are going to be seriously hurt, and he is probably going to be put to sleep.

For German Shepherd aggression, the one course of action that should be taken is obedience training. It is best to begin at a young age before any bad habits are formed, however, no matter the age of your dog, obedience training remains the best option.

Many dogs have an aggressive side, and you often see this when they are on leashes. Dogs that are normally well-behaved can lunge and snarl at other dogs and people as you walk down the street. While he needs exercise, you do not want to put others at risk. What can you do about leash aggression?

However, there are some ways to deal with leash aggression so you can both get some good quality time and exercise outdoors.

If your dog seems like he is about to become aggressive, divert him with a command like sit or down. This will keep him occupied and should reroute his attention.

If you are about to pass another dog, don?t tense up or pull the least taut. Your pet will be able to tell and he will think that you are scared, so aggression is much more likely. Animals pick up on our signals ? just remain calm and relaxed.

Some dogs may require a gentle leader harness or muzzle. These should only be used temporarily until your dog learns not to lunge. If you have a dog who is a danger, they can keep others safe. This is the first priority.

If you have tried to curb leash aggression and your dog still misbehaves during walks, it is time to find a good trainer. You need professional help to stop this at once: not only is it disruptive to your own walks, it is dangerous to everyone and every animal you pass on the sidewalk.

Many dogs pull and lunge when on a leash. If your dog displays this very natural reaction to being on a leash, it is vital that you take action as soon as possible so it doesn't become either an irritating habit or a dangerous one.

The stay command is one of the most useful for your dog. While indicative of a well-trained dog, the stay command can also keep your dog safe in different settings. To help facilitate teaching this command, use treats and praise liberally.

To learn to stay, your dog first needs to know how to sit and/or lie down. When he masters this, staying is the next step. Begin by telling him to sit or lie down. As he does this, put your hand out and say, "Stay." Make sure you use a firm yet calm voice.

Your dog may only be able to stay for a second or two at first. No matter how long he stays, remember to praise him and give him a treat. He will be able to stay longer as he practices.

Give the release command ? say "Ok," or "Come" - so your dog knows he doesn't have to lie down any longer. Give him a treat and lots of praise.

As you work with your dog, you can lengthen the time your dog stays. Demand a little more each time before you give him his treat.

At the same time, make sure you're not extending your training sessions too long. Five minutes is enough to get great results.

Another way that dogs are like children is that they have short attention spans! If you require him to train for longer than ten minutes, he is likely to become obstinate and disobedient. Also keep in mind that he'll have to have a lot of practice in order to perfect the command. Repeat "Stay" several times and be prepared to reteach him the command a few times.

As you continue training, your dog will be able to stay longer, even when you are not in the room. You will not always have to provide a treat, but do always praise your dog and his accomplishments.

Dogs come in all shapes and sizes, but one thing they all have in common is the love of digging. From burying bones to making cool dens for shelter, dogs in yards will inevitably turn to this favorite past time.

While it is a natural instinct in dogs, digging can be detrimental to your yard and to your dog's discipline. How can you get your living breathing shovel to stop?

As with children, dogs do things for a reason. Why is your dog digging? If you can figure this out, you are halfway to a solution. Does he just love to fling dirt?

Some dogs do enjoy the act of digging, but others use it to communicate with you. They may be crying out for attention or more exercise. They may need a shelter to stay warm or cool. They may be burying food. If you've recently put down fertilizer or dug in your garden, your dog may be responding to the scents.

Knowing the reason behind the digging can help you stop the behavior. For instance, if it is due to boredom or lack of attention, you can start to offer your dog more play time with you.

If this doesn't help, you can give one of the following techniques a try:

1. Bury inflated balloons in places where your dog likes to dig. One popped balloon can be a great deterrent.

2. When you refill the holes, add in some of your dog's own feces. The next time he digs there, he will be repelled by it. This may not be a fun way for you to teach your dog, but it is effective and humane.

3. Chicken wire is another thing you can bury in your yard to deter your dog from digging. He'll hate the feeling of his claws against the wire and will be prompted to stop.

4. When you catch your dog digging, give him a spray from a water bottle or hose. They hate this (but it is not harmful). They will learn to associate the punishment with the crime. Only do this when you catch him digging or he will not connect the behavior with the consequence.

Digging doesn't have to be a part of your dog's normal routine. With a little work and training, you can get past this behavior and have a hole-free yard

Clicker Training for Great Dog Behavior

The use of clickers in dog training has increased in recent years. It is a gentle way to condition your dog to repeat good behavior.

Clicker training works on the principle of operant conditioning. This is when a behavior is repeated because a reward is associated with it. Here is some more on how clicker training works:

A clicker is a small plastic box with a metal strip. When you push and release the metal strip, it makes a sharp clicking sound.

When you first start click training, you pair the click with a reward, such as a dog biscuit. When the dog performs a command well, you click immediately and offer the treat.

This teaches your dog to connect the behavior with the click. Since the click is associated with the treat, he'll be more apt to perform the good behavior. Eventually, you can phase out the treat, and he will respond to the click. After successful training, you won't need the clicker either.

Clicking is immediate. Dogs need to know exactly what they are being praised for, and the clicking sound helps let them know. This is why the clicker method is so effective for training.

Trying the clicker method can lead to more effective, quicker training. It works with your dog?s natural urge to please you and earn a reward.

Puppy Instruction: Housebreaking is a matter of you keeping track of your dog around the house and looking for hints they may need to go out and potty.

-Unless you are crate training your puppy, they will most likely be allowed to ramble around the house. Now I'm not suggesting you should follow your puppy around all day, just be sure you know where they are, and keep track of how long it's been since they've eaten, or had drink of water, and how long ago it was you took them outside.

- Establish a schedule for taking the puppy out until it learns to let you know, in someway that they need to go outdoors. This will eventually happen, even in the most hell bent of breeds.

Puppy Training: HELP!! My Puppy is BITING EVERYTHING!!

-This is actually extremely simple to fix. Go to your local pet supply store or walmart, kmart, or wherever and buy your puppy a chew toy. A chew toy that makes some type of noise when bitten is best for puppy training.

-The best way to let your puppy know that they are not supposed to chew on anything except their new toy would be to either, catch them in the act, firmly tell them "no", and give them their toy to chew on. The other way to train your puppy would be to sit with them in the floor and put something in front of them that they have been caught previously chewing on, along with their new toy. When they begin to chew on the item they were previously chewing on, firmly tell them "no", take that item away, and give them the toy. Repeat this process several times and you will almost immediately begin to see results. Eventually, they won't even think about chewing on anything but their toy.

Puppy Training: Leash Training

-One of the first things to remember about walking your puppy should be common sense to most people, be sure to choose the specific size collar for your puppy's weight.

-These days, retractable leashes are a great tool for puppy training. Using a retractable leash will allow you to control where you want your puppy to walk when you eventually are able to walk them without the leash. Just be sure when you are doing your puppy training you remember not to pull to hard on the leash. Take your time when training your puppy and realize it's a process over time that makes your puppy training a success.

Puppy Training: An Aggressive Puppy is a Happy Puppy, WHAT ABOUT ME?!

- If your puppy is too energetic, don't worry, this is a very fixable problem with a simple training method I picked up years ago when I was just starting my career. First, stop playing aggressively with your puppy quickly. The, next time your puppy begins to become aggressive, turn your back on them, and reward them when they become calm again.

- Jumping up on visitors or even other members of the family is an awkward aspect of life when raising your puppy. This is one of those abrasive manners I mentioned above. So simply keep repeating those steps, and your puppy will begin to understand how you want them to behave in every situation.

These 4 puppy training approaches are simple enough, yes, but if you do not routinely engage these methods with your puppy, you will never have a puppy that grows up to be the model dog you will enjoy. A dog that listens when you talk, that will stay beside you when you take them for a walk, and respect you as their pack leader. Dogs are pack animals and they will only obey you if they see you as their pack leader, and by following the steps above your puppy will soon grow to accept you as their pack leader.

When you first get a dog in your life, we admit that it is irresistible to sit there and play with him or her all day. When he or she jumps up on your bed, you do not want to push them to the side. You figure one night is fine. Well, once you do it, the dog is going to expect it each and every night. If you do not plan on letting the dog sleep on your bed, then don't let them do it, not even once. You should also know that we have dealt with many dogs in the past.

Personally, we allow our pit bull, Copper to sleep in our bed, but that is our choice, we do not know what you prefer. If you prefer to have your dog crate trained, then you should start that from day one.

What is our secret behind training the dog? Well, really, there is no secret, but we do have some key advice for you. When you are training your dog, you need to have patience in him or her. You should not make those training sessions too long, because you do not want your dog to get overwhelmed.

When you first get your puppy, you will need to teach him or her to walk on a leash. First, you should start by introducing the pup to a collar.

At first, they will wonder about that foreign object on their neck, but in due time, they will get used to it. You should also introduce the leash to them and let them get used to it before you put it on them.

Your dog is smart and we know you will see that as you are doing your dog training. Each day, your dog will be learning, but you need to make sure you have patience and confidence in your four legged friend. When you have confidence in them, they will trust you.

All dogs need to be trained. Dogs are much happier and much more comfortable when they know precisely what is expected of them. You will like your pet more as well if he is well mannered and well behaved. Dogs are innate pack animals. They enjoy doing whatever is necessary to satisfy the leader of the pack or the "alpha dog". You must make sure that you are considered his boss or his "alpha".

Dogs that are not educated for obedience are as a rule much more uneasy and rambunctious because they do not know exactly what it expected of them. A dog is tends to be much happier and more satisfied when he knows exactly what they need to do at all times. A respectful dog is not just happier but he is safer, too.

There are many things that you can take benefit of for training your dog. There are various wonderful books and video's available and there are some excellent online courses. There are also dog obedience classes that are offered in almost every city that you can attend and there are also professional dog trainers that you can take on.

Every dog needs to embark on their training as soon as they arrive home. Even old dogs can learn and every dog will react to positive reinforcement and every dog will also want to satisfy the new leader or "alpha dog".

You will often have the most victory in dog training when you make it fun and coach during "playtime". You will still be training significant lessons but both of you will have the benefit of it more if you don't try to coerce things but just enjoy the course. Your dog may understand some things immediately and other things may take longer but either way just get pleasure from the process and he will be trained to do whatever you want in no time at all.

Using encouraging reinforcement of either praise or treats is important to your triumphant training. You need to acknowledge when your dog does something right. The timing of constructive reinforcement is also imperative for the reason that a dog cannot analyze and he can only correlate things with what is happening at that very moment. Reprimands must also be done immediately after the bad behavior.

A dog cannot infer and he can only relate positive or negative reinforcement with what is happening at the moment. If you reprimand your dog now for something that he did an hour ago, it is completely a waste of time and it will only serve to scare him pointlessly because he won't realize your reasoning.

The most critical consideration that you need to keep in mind when you own a dog and when you are training your dog is that you must be the "alpha dog" or the leader of the pack. One way to quickly validate you as the leader in their mind is to rub their belly as soon as they roll over. They will have to give in to you and they will then think of you as the leader. All of your instruction and your dog ownership will be easier when you are the "alpha dog".
