If you are in a busy mall, do some people catch your attention without them trying hard to do so? At the office, do you come face to face with individuals who have this wonderful aura that makes you feel envious? How about seeing individuals in the park who have smiles in their face throughout their stay there? Do you want to know the secret behind their glow? It doesn't have to be a mind-boggling question. Most probably, the cause for their state of bliss is their pet.

Whether you care to admit it or not, having a pet can be a wonderful addition to one's life. Nowadays, with everyone feeling the pinch of economic crisis, environmental degradation and political turmoil, it is so easy to succumb to depression and hopelessness. Bad news seems to prevail all over the television, the radio, the newspapers and even the internet. However, if you have something worthwhile to occupy your time, like cuddling with your pet, you will have the energy to last you throughout the day. You will also have a very good reason to be excited about right after the office bell rings.

It has been proven by numerous studies that pets are therapeutic creatures to be with. Therefore, it doesn't come as a surprise that many hospitals are utilizing this technique.

The next few paragraphs will enumerate the reasons why a pet can make you happy. Read this interesting and comprehensive article to know the details.

First of all, pets have this uncanny ability to make their owners feel good about themselves. Most pets are actually smart and responsible which makes them such a wonderful companion. They are also not ashamed to show their affection so their owners enjoy cuddling them. Unlike other people who are not content with what you give them, pets are already happy if you have met their basic needs. Just give them their food, water, dog house, quality time at the park and regular visits to the veterinarian and they will thrive. Pets do not throw temper tantrums regularly and they don't bug you at the office through phone calls or electronic mails. They are content to wait for you until you come home.

Second, having a pet improves your self-worth. If you are responsible for someone's needs, such as their food, physical condition and health, you feel more productive. Being productive can lead to a sense of increased self-esteem. This will show in the way you deal with other people such as your boss, your co-workers, your family and even your neighbors. You have a happier approach to life and the glow that will reflect on your face is simply an outward manifestation of how you feel inside. People will undoubtedly notice it.

Third, a pet will gain you new friends. People gravitate towards other people who carry with them their dog, cat, rabbit or pigeon in the park. It will improve your social networking skills. Remember that there are a lot of topics that can be broached when one is in the company of an animal. From their needs to their quirks, you will not be at a loss for something to talk about with a total stranger.

Are you ready to gain the perks of possessing a new pet? Well, wait no more. Head to the nearest animal store and get one now.

Wanting to become a pet owner is wonderful. But you must notice two things that you need to know about. One is quality pet health insurance because without it your pet is not safe. The next key thing is that using cheap pet meds will damage your pet terminally if you find the wrong quality of medication.

There are many responsibilities that go into owning a pet of any kind. Many factors play a part in your pet being healthy. If your pet has ever been ill you know what heartache you feel. I remember how I felt the time my dog was ill; all I thought of was helping her get better. Do You Want a Healthier Pet?

The main thing you need to watch with your pet is the food you feed them; make sure it has the right nutritional value to it. Be certain the food is designed for them. This type of food will include all the nutrients your pet's body will require to be healthy. It doesn't matter if you own a hamster, cat, or dog, they all require the right food for their systems.

In the event that you are going to give your pet people food to consume, make sure it follows their dietary guidelines. Dogs should absolutely not have anything with caffeine in it. This could bring on a heart attack with the dogs. Nor should they have sugar.

Animals can pack on extra pounds too if fed too many calories. This why the standing recommendation is to leave off scraps from the table. Fish that eat too much can die. Just like humans your pets are prone to bad health because of overeating. Most pets need enough water taken in daily to keep hydrated. Now when the pet of choice is fish, then they need certain water conditions to live healthy. So check the water often for any problems.

Be on time with your pet's annual checkup with the vet if this is relevant to your pet's health. Cats and dogs both need periodic vaccines to keep from contracting certain diseases. Rabies vaccine is especially important to them. This is even more important if you live in a location where your pets can come in contact with wild creatures.

Every pet needs exercise even fish. Fish do of course get a lot of exercise swimming constantly like they do. Cats and dogs should be ran, played with, and walked be certain that they receive enough healthy exercise. This helps keeps their bodies strong and their weight at the right point. It also helps your pet's heart be healthy. Walk your cat or dog when you go for a stroll. This is how both of you can get healthier at the same time. Provide a hamster with a wheel to run on for their health, if that is your pet of choice. This way it gets enough exercise for its health.

Your pet also needs your attention and love to have good emotional health. We should all talk to them and pet them to show how much we love them. Grooming is even part of showing this love. Cats and dogs shed hair or the fur they have can get all matted without correct combing and brushing.

Following the above suggestions will help you have the healthiest pet you can have. Is this not what all of us pet owners want? So have a healthier pet today!

Wanting to become a pet owner is wonderful. But you must notice two things that you need to know about. An important key is quality pet health insurance because unless you have it your pet is not secure if accidents happen. The second is that using cheap pet meds can hurt your pet terminally if you purchase poor quality of medication.

Are you living alone in a single apartment unit in the middle of a crowded city? Do you want some company that is not demanding of your time? Or maybe you just prefer indulging in your maternal instinct and want someone to cuddle when you get home minus the complications of a personal relationship. If you replied yes to the three aforementioned queries, then maybe it's about time you get a pet.

Undoubtedly, pets are known to be good choices when it comes to bonding moments especially if one desires freedom from fellow humans. History has shown that pets are extremely loyal, highly intelligent and responsible in certain chores. And, when compared to humans, they are not clingy and can be left alone for hours or even days. Just leave them some food, water and their other basic needs. Isn't that a relief to be free from constant attention?

You can choose from a wide selection that is available in the pet store or in the veterinarian's clinic. There are dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and even exotic animals like albino pythons and tarantulas. Whatever your personality may be, there is always a corresponding pet to fit your judicious needs.

A lot of people opt to buy tame animals like cats and dogs because they are relatively easy to care for. For those who pick a cat over a dog, here are certain advantages that a cat can give its owner. Read this article why being a cat owner is satisfying.

One, being a cat owner trains you to become more aware of other's needs. Not only will you worry about your basic necessities for the week, you will also learn what food, grooming stuff, exercise routine and medication your cat will require. You will also deal with the fact that you have to visit the vet in case your pet doesn't feel well. All these may sound like additional chores in your lifestyle but the virtues you will develop are simply priceless. Other people will definitely notice that you have changed for the better.

Second, if you possess a cat, you will be motivated to face each day with passion. This results from having found a purpose in life. Basically, you are now aware that you are being relied on; hence, you have something to look forward. You don't feel as if you are alone in this whole, wide world. Coming home after office hours is also a pleasurable experience now with your cat's presence. If you had a bad day at the office due to a fight with a co-worker or a crazy meeting with clients, you can de-stress with your beloved kitty.

Third, you can add more friends to your list if you participate in activities being sponsored by cat lovers or by joining a cat owners' group. Since you have the same concern, you will not lose a topic to talk about. There are many passionate people like you who are into cats. There is no need for weird icebreakers to be performed if you find yourself in this predicament.

So after reading this interesting and information-filled write up, you are now ready to own a cat. Head to the nearest animal clinic and pick the feline of your choice. Enjoy!

Being a pet owner is wonderful. But you must notice two things that you need to know about. An important key is quality pet health insurance because without it your pet is not safe. The second is that using cheap pet meds will damage your pet terminally if you find the wrong quality of medication.

Before obedience classes were popular, or even available, nearly every dog owner in the past relied on home dog training to get their dog to obey and perform tricks.

Dog owners really had no choice but to spend time teaching Fido at home if they wanted a well behaved dog. They had to have the patience, willpower, and desire to do so. Many people learned how to train their dogs from their parents who had owned dogs. Some read dog training books to learn how to do it.

You can either train your dog through dog obedience classes or conduct home dog training just as your ancestors did. If you are low in budget, conducting home training is a better choice.

To train a dog, you can use a mixture of consistency, praise, and treats as dogs are quite a simple creature. Give them enough of those, and they'll be doing whatever you want in no time. You can teach them to obey you and to amuse your friends by performing some cute tricks.

The most successful way to train your dog at home is to model the behavior you want from him. For example, if you want him to sit on command, then gently place him in a sitting position and say "sit" very firmly, while looking him in the eyes.

Do this over and over, until finally, just say "sit" to him and see what he does. If he sits on his own, give him a treat and lots of praise for a job well done. If he doesn't sit, then go back to modeling the sitting and the command until he learns it.

Some dogs can learn the tricks quite fast while some take a bit more time. But the good things is they will get it one day.

One very important thing about training your dog. Be sure to keep praising and giving treats for the first several times your dog does the right thing on command. After a while, just praise your dog. Your dog wants to know you are happy with him.

There are many different ways to train your dog. You can go for obedience classes, leash training, collar training, or simple home training techniques. There are a lot of options and plenty of books and DVDs available to help you out in selecting the best method for training your dog.

Which is the best dog training method? Is there one that stand out from the rest or one that is the most effective? That answer is largely subjective and depends entirely on you and your dog and your own individual personalities.

When looking for the best dog training method for you and your pet, take into consideration how much time you have to devote to training, how patient you are, and how smart your dog seems to be. All of these will make an impact on your choice of training techniques.

For instance, if you have the time in your schedule to go for obedience class, this method is usually quicker and easier. If you don't have that kind of free time, another method may work better for you.

Leash training may be best for you if you take your dog out on lots of walks and have this worked into your schedule already. Those with a lot of free time but no money for classes may opt to simply train their dogs themselves at home. It is all about your preference and style.

Another factor to consider is your dog's preferences. Some dogs are smarter than others, and will respond better to the controlled environment of an obedience class rather than simple one on one home training. These dogs may also respond well to leash or collar training, though some people claim the latter is cruel.

I believe that you do not want your dog to be hurt. Just find the best dog training method for you both, so that you can enjoy a happy co-existence together in the same home. Find the right way to train your dog, and you will find you enjoy each others' company a lot more and become close companions.

You now have had a dog for about 2 years you say. So you are fairly accustomed to giving it good care. You water and also feed it on a daily schedule, and you take good care of its coat too. But you are asking for advice on how to help your dog survive healthier and longer. So here is a method that is easy to do and will result in your dog surviving longer and healthier.

Feeding your dog carefully is important to its health. Look for dog food that gives it totally daily nutrients. For a long time it has been advised not to feed your dog from the table scraps, that you and your family leave behind after a meal. It could cause your pet to put on excess weight.

The dog food that you buy at the vets or in the grocery store has been processed not to have too much fat in it. They come for senior dogs, adult dogs, and puppies. Each group of food is geared appropriately to the age of the dog.

You need to be certain that your dog has enough fresh water a day too. They need to stay hydrated just like we humans do. So make sure their water bowls get filled daily, or get the special water bowl that have a container attached, to continuously feed water to the bowl.

Groom and brush your dog as much as is called for as far as what breed it is. Your dog usually can be brushed everyday and then give the dog a bath maybe twice a month unless the dog requires it more often. Some get dirtier than others because they are outside a lot more. The dog having a nice, shiny coat shows how healthy they are.

Dogs need exercise just like we do and there are several ways to exercise your dog. You can take them for long walks this gives you exercise too. You can train your dog to catch a Frisbee in mid air; they usually have to run to do this. Have your dog fetch a ball or stick, some dogs will run full out to do this. Many dogs love to swim and enjoy the water right along with you, when you go for a swim in your pool or a lake. They also have competitions for dogs to run courses and do different activities. Some parks now have sections for dogs to go play with other dogs too.

An annual checkup by a vet is required for your dog. There are certain vaccines that the dogs require to help protect them against diseases like rabies. Their ears and teeth also need to be in good health. The dog will have a hard time eating and getting nutrition without teeth. A dog's ears can become easily infected, depending on the breed, when not given proper care. Your vet will show you how to give your dog the correct care.

Just do these tips and add a good dose of love to make you dog live more years. Your dog is a family member and when one is lost it is truly heart crushing, so make sure to care for your dog correctly. In this way the dog will stay part of the family for many more years.

Being a cat owner there are so many things you must learn. An important thing is to get pet health insurance to make sure your pet is covered. Most owners of cats will start searching online for cheap cat insurance and get a bad policy plan. Don't let the price be the only thing you look at.

There are a couple of things you can do to help eliminate accidents in the house. First, take your dog outside as frequently as possible. This could make him rather more likely to get rid of outside and not on your carpet.

That way if he does go, it will be easily cleaned up. Fact : it is just that not tough to conquer dog potting coaching issues. They occur frequently and are so straightforward to fix-when you know how. Hindrance 2 ) they won't go in the 'designated' area. This is as they're going to catch their smell on it and will know what to do.

But ensure you make a consistent time to let them out. Manifestly to make this work you will have to feed them at the same time daily. If the dog stays sitting when guests arrive, ask them to praise him fast. You have to absolutely forget the dog if it does not sit at your command. Don't even peek its way as the punishment for not obeying commands. Dogs prosper on attention and when you disregard the dog the dog gets no attention. If you practice this ceaselessly the dog will ultimately make the link. Usually this happens while the dog is bored or maybe frightened.

The easy solution is to supply the dog toys he will be able to play with and gnaw on. This can help reduce worry and keep the dog occupied. When you see the dog playing with its toys offer praise and a treat. With some practice, the dog will discover what it can't gnaw on.

In the night, when you can't take your puppy outside as you are sleeping, consider keeping him in a dog crate. Be certain to put a little bowl of food and water within the crate with him. A dog is less likely to use the bathroom where he is going to sleep and eat. Keeping him in a crate a night, and taking him outside first thing in the morning, will greatly help with getting him fully house trained.

When your dog arrives, don't introduce him to his crate straight away, but let him have a look at it in his very own time. Puppies are naturally curious and frolicsome, so exploit these qualities, and make a game of it.

Ever since the beginning of time, dogs have been the most preferred choice as pets by most households. Many have proven that they are proficient, steadfast, smart and trainable in diverse farm duties and simple household tasks. They can be charming and submissive to their owners but vicious to total strangers. These qualities make them an ideal escort for those who are single in life as well as to couples who are just planning to start their own brood. Babies to older adults will not have a hard time adjusting to their presence.

Studies show that a dog's behavior as an adult is a result of his breeding and training. Because you can't do anything anymore about a dog's breed since it is an inherent part of his personality, you just have to make sure that he was trained well in his younger days so that you won't be experiencing any attitude problems when he is already a full grown adult. This is a big consideration to mull over when you want to get another puppy in the future. Here is a list of puppy training secrets that you must know in order to have a well-mannered pet in the future.

The first thing that you should bear in mind when training a puppy is to start low and go slow. This means that you must first establish a good rapport with your pet. Do not instantaneously start the complicated tricks that will make him want to run away with his tail between his hind legs. Create a favorable mood that will make him relax and be conducive to training. Upon reaching that ideal state, then you can already commence your training schedule. This might seem cruel but you have no alternative if you want to enforce obedience in his existence.

There are a lot of ways to do this but the most common includes putting a leash around his neck, placing him inside a kennel or positioning him in a crate. It is expected that your dog would howl in protest. At times, it may be too annoying that you would want to stuff his mouth with a ball of socks. However, remember that all this seemingly vicious acts will gain benefits. Try to be immune to this kind of suffering. Remember, you only want what's best for your dog. The end justifies the means, as they often say.

Second, teach him a simple trick followed by a nice reward. The treat could come in the form of a chicken or pork meat. As exemplified by Ivan Pavlov, the famous Russian psychologist, this method will make the dog associate good behavior with food. This will be stored in their memory for a long time if done repetitively.

Third, you can go the opposite direction and make your dog realize the power of negative conditioning. This is done by imposing the words no, stop and don't in the training process. Use a powerful voice if possible. An example would be catching him rummaging through the garbage. So the moment you see him, say stop out loud and give him a slight slap on the tail area.

Fourth, you have to follow through. Be consistent when giving commands and orders as well as their corresponding rewards or punishments. Do not flip flop when it comes to this. Your dog will get confuse if you did something once then change the rules the second time. He must realize that everything is well-established when it comes to your instructions.

Lastly, give choices. If there are tricks or tasks that he can't easily act upon like not digging the front lawn or backyard, then provide another alternative like another digging space beside the dog house yard.

Having pets is not an easy chore. You have a lot of duties to accomplish so that they can mature into well-bred animals in the later years. These duties include gratifying their basic requirements as well as their caprices. From their chow to their protection, from their grooming to their well-being necessities, all these tasks will be yours to shoulder the instant you have possession of your adorable canine. It is not that dissimilar from being a mom or dad to a human infant.

Dogs are the most obvious choice for pets. They are devoted, highly trainable, smart and enjoyable to be with. It doesn't matter what kind of dog you like. If you like athletic breeds, you may get a German shepherd or a pit-bull. Should you prefer toy dogs like Japanese Spitz or Shih Tzu, you can easily order them at the vet's clinic. Sport dogs like Golden Retriever and Doberman are also great choices in terms of companionship.

If you think your dog can offer numerous advantages in your life, doesn't it follow that you should also do everything possible to keep them in an ecstatic state? It's the least you can do for all the fun moments that they have shared with you. Here are some cool ways to make your canine happy. Read on.

First of all, keep your dog in a blissful state by providing it with the requisite food, water, exercise, dog house and a regular visit to the nice neighborhood veterinarian. Make sure that you are offering them with nutrients that are fitting for their breed and chronological age. Just like human beings, big dogs need more calories while the small ones can make do with just a serving of dog food. In the same manner, young pups have slightly different nutritional necessities than their older counterparts. Dogs with longer hair also need more vitamins and minerals compared to those with thinner and finer coat.

An exercise routine every day or very week is the way to go in terms of bodily activities for these four-legged canines. Walking them in the park or playing Frisbee with them three times a week for a minimum of at least 30 minutes per session is enough to give their cardiovascular system a high-quality calisthenics. This will avert them from getting obese or developing diseases like atherosclerotic hearts.

A refuge is necessary to protect them from the extremes of the temperature. It will also act as their protection during windy days.

A regular trip to the medical veterinarian will help maintain their health. Be particular of their needed vaccinations. Take note of all the required immunizations so that you won't experience any untoward problem as they grow up. Regard your vet's advice as the rule to follow because they are aware that each dog breed has varying needs.

You may also give them a treat once in a while by giving them luxurious sessions in a dog spa. Cool shower baths, extensive nail clipping, fur conditioning, tooth brushing and other related services will make your pet dog feel so pampered. Consequently, these hygienic activities will also help remove the fleas that might have gotten stuck on their skin.

Spend quality time with your pooch. Aside from your bonding moments during your exercise meeting, make time to embrace and cuddle him the moment you get home from work. You may also try chatting with him like you would any normal person. Studies show that relating with animals decreases the stress hormone cortisol in the body. Consequently, this seemingly easy chore will then give long-term benefits to both of you.

Lastly, dog-proof your home so that accidents can be avoided or at the very least, minimized. Make sure all electrical appliances are kept or installed in harmless places. Be particular about floppy wires and blunt or heavy kitchen apparatus and utensils spread just about anywhere. Place your things in their proper locations so that your pet dog won't trip on it.

Did you grow up without ever owning a lovable pooch because your parents are very strict with regards to the cleanliness in your household? Did they make you feel that having dogs can lead to a messy living space? Well, if that's the case, you surely lost a lot of experiences that could have made you into a much better individual. If you are a parent right now and you don't want the same thing to happen to your little kids, get a pet dog that will be their trustworthy companion as they face the challenges of life.

It is not easy to just get a dog for a pet. You have to consider plenty of things before taking the plunge. Bear in mind that you are to share your life with this animal for a long time. Therefore, think if your family members will be agreeable with your decision. Then, there is the factor of your house and lawn. You might also mull over what breed you want as well as the maintenance expenses. You have to make sure it won't drain your monthly budget.

This article will explain the reasons for each consideration. Read on so that you will be guided accordingly in your search for the ultimate dog.

If you are a single guy or girl, then you won't have to think of other people's opinions about what dog to get. However, if you have a wife or kids, that's a different matter altogether. Their opinions should be factored in so that you can make the best choice for the whole family. They can help you see clearly all the advantages and disadvantages of getting a particular dog. Collaborate with them in a harmonious manner.

Second, the size of your house and yard must be assessed. If you have a small place, a small dog should be your pet. They do not require a humongous place to play around in. If you provide them with a small dog house, they won't complain. This is not the case for guard dogs. They want a huge area where they can run and play to their heart's content. If they can't stretch their lean limbs and torso every single day, they will feel bad and get depressed. This would cause mayhem because they may throw temper tantrums. You don't want this to happen, right? Therefore, be wise enough to know what is good for your dog.

Third, read about what breed you want. Not all dogs are created the same. Take note that there are individual differences. Some dogs are prone to getting sick in dusty environments. Others are easy prey to sickness when the temperature changes. Also consider the temperament of the dog. Toy dogs like the Japanese spits and poodle are fun and enjoyable to cuddle. They are also playful so they need affectionate owners. On the other hand, German Shepherds and Rottweiler?s need owners with a dominating personality that can tame them. If you are not self-assured don't consider getting their breed. They won't obey you. Even if they are still puppies, they can sense if you can be manipulated to fit their whims or not.

Fourth, if you are low on budget, get a dog that doesn't require much maintenance. If you can avoid hairy animals that need weekly grooming, do so. Also stay away from dogs that need thermally-regulated surroundings like Siberian huskies because they will jack up your electricity bills with their air conditioning needs. Stick to wash and wear dogs so that all you have to worry about is their food, regular shampoo and conditioning needs and the bill from the vet in times of sickness.

Exercise prudence and patience in selecting the dog of your choice. More often than not, you will be together for a lifetime so it is imperative that you get the best one.

Are you aware that missing knowledge about insurance and pet health is one of the reasons for many pet hurts? The second biggest problem is that pet owners think that discount pet medication is just as good as normal top notch medicin. Unfortunately they are mistaken.

If you have a new addition to your household in the form of a cat or kitten then it is essential to housetrain them as otherwise you will end up with surprises hidden throughout your home. The process of litter tray and toilet training cats and kittens can be a long and tedious process; you will need to be determined to get quick results.

To start with you will need to get your new pet litter trained before they can become toilet trained. You will need to make or buy a litter tray or box. This should be of a large enough size for your cat to move around in when they are doing their business. The litter tray or box should be placed somewhere that it is not going to be tripped over and that will give the cat a degree of privacy. This should not be the same place as where they eat or sleep, cats are very clean animals the same as we are. Bear in mind that a litter tray will also give off odours.

Once they are familiar with using the litter tray you can start to train them to use the actual toilet. This can take a fair degree of effort but is achievable with almost any cat. It is much easier done if you have a spare toilet which is designated for the cat to use.

Only after the cat has got used to the litter tray should you start to move it. At first you can bring it closer to the bathroom and then eventually inside. It may help to show the cut where the tray has gone. The next step will involve you raising the level of the tray. You can do this with old newspapers or strong cardboard boxes. Eventually you need to get it to the same height as the toiler seat and also move it into an adjacent position.

The next part of the training involves making your cat switch from the tray to the toilet. For this to be successful you will need to install a litter pan under the actual toilet seat. Into this needs to be placed the same litter as is in the tray. If you do not need to use this bathroom yourself then you can leave both the tray and pan together for a number of days before removing the litter tray or box.

The final part of the training may take some coaxing from you and also a careful check to see that the cat is using the toilet as expected. You need to remove the pan from under the toilet seat. Hopefully your cat will feel comfortable crouching on the seat without the safety of the pan beneath.

The age of the cat can play a factor in how easy they are to toilet train. A kitten may be too small to fit on a toilet seat correctly. Young cats are usually the quickest to take to it.

It is also worth understanding that your cat is going to want to use only that one toilet in your house as the others are not its territory.

As many an animal lover would know, dogs are generally a happy, loyal, and lovable breed. Sometimes we hold off adopting a puppy because training her would require too much of an effort. Fortunately, there are simple dog training tips available that cover the basics and help get you started to a colorful and rewarding relationship with your dog.

First of all, you will have to set your leader status in the dog's eyes. Once he recognizes you as his authority he will follow you without much trouble. Establish this daily with regular routine that mirrors the animal world's system. Allow your dog to watch you eat first and feed him only after you're done. Don't walk around him if he is obstructing your path. Gently force him to leave his position by pushing him out of the way. As he acknowledges you to be the leader of the pack, the easier it is to teach him in the future.

Dogs can pick up your emotions even as you handle them. Use a firm and authoritative voice in training. However, it is also important to note that dogs respond well to positive reinforcement. Give him doggie treats every time he correctly accomplishes a command. If he makes a mistake, you have to correct him during the time it happens not after. Train him for ten to fifteen minutes several times a day and be effusive in your praise with his performance.

You will find that all dogs have consistent behavioral patterns that are a reliable index to their state of mind, so to speak. Happy dogs have wagging tails, a joyful bark and an open expression. Angry dogs will bare their teeth, snarl and tense up, ready to attack. Recognizing particular signs and correctly responding to it will help you in training him successfully.

You will need patience in training your dogs tricks. Dogs are best taught at around six weeks of age but if he's been around the proverbial block a few times, there is still hope. Remember, you need to be cool and collected even when he messes up, especially in the beginning. Your patient guidance will see him progress sooner or later. Be consistent in your teaching patterns and training schedules. Confused dogs will forget what you want them to learn.

When teaching your dogs tricks, do so in an area you will least likely be interrupted. A more interesting object may be a better source of entertainment for him than the present training session. You will be hard-pressed to keep his attention when that happens. A backyard free from commotions, or any quiet fenced-in area will be a good classroom for him.

More than anything, keep in mind the reason you got the dog in the first place. Enjoy his doggie company! When training is beginning to seem like a chore, take five and just play around with him. Dogs will lavish you with unconditional love whatever may have happpened to you this week. And at the end of the day, it's not how well he rolled over but how he got you to smile that makes him the perfect pet to have.

Originally a hard working gun dog used to spending its days hunting the Labrador retriever has an altogether different image today. Now, Labs are considered to be ideal family pets and if you want the perfect picture of doggie cuteness than a Labrador puppy will fit the bill. Labs are loyal and faithful companions for their owners.

Very popular with dog owners around the world the Labrador retriever is a perennial favourite with all age groups. Their cute looks and playful nature make them great companions for the young and the old and they are often trusted with jobs such as police and emergency rescue work.

The Labs friendly nature and desire to please their human masters makes them ideal assistance dogs for the disabled or the deaf and they often used as therapeutic aids for people suffering from all manner of both physical and mental ailments.

Remarkably strong swimmers, Labrador retrievers like nothing more than playing in water and they will happily plunge into the sea or a river given the opportunity. The physical make up of the Lab with its otter style tail and waterproof coat means they are really at home in the water and will happily join their owners for a dip in the pool.

Unsurprisingly Labs are great retrievers and their breeding as gun dogs has left them with the ability to carry even the most fragile of objects in their mouths without damaging it. My Lab often brings me my reading glasses without a problem and it is said that they can carry an egg in their mouths without breaking it. Though they are likely to eat the egg as they do have quite ferocious appetites!

In general Labs are not markedly prone to having some of the negative traits found in some breeds. These include but are not limited to being hypersensitive, aggressive, insecure, pining nor territorial.

Labrador retrievers are especially wonderful with children because the Lab has an intense desire to not only please, but its desire to play is almost equal with its desire to eat! Children can spend hours playing catch with a ball, or a Frisbee, and the dog will appear to be tireless. They seem to literally thrive on human interaction, affection and attention.

Labs, as a breed, are exceedingly intelligent making them highly trainable though it is certainly true that they have great independence and can be quite stubborn in their behaviour.

Labs are also very curious creatures and they will happily investigate any new surroundings with great glee. If something attracts their attention, particularly the scent of food, they will determinedly seek it out. Similarly they will happily trot after a person they havent met before simply to check them out.

Because of their friendly nature and tendency to roam they can often go missing or, worse, be tempted away from their homes. It is highly recommended therefore that Lab owners arrange for their dogs to be micro-chipped or, at the very least, to have the owners contact details on their collars.

When it comes to health issues Labs do have a tendency to put on weight because of their enormous appetites and need regular exercise to help them keep in shape. Other health concerns include hip dysplasia as Labs are prone to suffer problems with their joints and hips and often develop arthritis in their later years.

But, those minor health concerns aside, it has to be said that, for many of us, Labrador retrievers are as close as you can come to having the perfect family pet!

Are you thinking about breeding your Labrador retrievers? It is certainly an idea that many Lab owners will have at some time or another but there are a number of things to consider before deciding to take the plunge into canine breeding. Of course there are two distinct reasons why anyone would want to begin breeding Labrador Retrievers. The first to produce a litter for themselves and family, the second is as a commercial operation.

No matter what the reasons are for wanting to breed Lab Retrievers, you must understand that not all the litters likely to be produced will be healthy and happy. If you are a first time breeder who owns a female dog, the pregnancy will be a time of joy, or dreadful disaster. To ensure a successful experience for you and your Lab, it is vital you bring together the best pairing of dogs possible. The pair need to have a good temperament, be in top physical shape as well as disease free. It is also vital you check each dog's lineage to eradicate the prospect of inherited problems and disease such as hip dysplasia.

Labradors are usually kept at home with the family, so it is crucial they have the temperament to live alongside children as well as adults. To that end, the temperament of the breeding pair is as vitally important as their health.

Inbreeding must be avoided, so it is essential that the pedigrees of each breeding pair is checked to avoid the danger they are too closely related. If the pair are closely related it can be detrimental to the health of the puppies, poor temperament and weaken the bloodline.

Before mating it is advisable to let the dogs get to know each other and, ideally, each dog should be over two years-of-age. By this time any temperamental or health issues should be apparent. Breeding Labrador Retrievers is not a decision to rush into but it should be remembered that finding the right pair of dogs is only the beginning of the process. Once the mating has taken place and pregnancy is confirmed the real work begins.

The care of a Labrador retriever during pregnancy and also the whelping process can prove to be hard work. Once the pups are born that hard work will most certainly continue. The puppies have to be cared for and finding new homes for them can be time-consuming and expensive.

Of course the last point, finding good owners, should not be underestimated. Rest assured there is no way you will let the puppies go to just anyone. Be prepared to reject potential owners if you are not satisfied that they will offer a caring and loving home to a puppy.

There are numerous reasons why many people consider the cat to be an ideal family pet. One of those reasons is simply that there is very little potty training involved. Get some cat litter and a litter box and you now have a pet you can keep inside with you all day.

Mother cats are great about teaching their kittens how to use a litter box. Your job is simply to make sure your cat knows where the box is located. Once he learns this, it is unlikely he'll do his business elsewhere. But that doesn't mean there aren't some decisions for you to make. And the first one is deciding what type of litter you want to use.

If this is your first cat you'll be a bit shocked when you see all the different types of litter now available. So how do you decide what's best for you and your pet?

If cost is a primary factor, clay litter is always a good bet. It's cheaper and was one of the first commercial litters available. But it does have some drawbacks. You will need to clean it and change it more frequently. Clay absorbs liquid, but it also absorbs odors, and nobody wants their house to smell like cat waste. And if by chance your kitten is prone to allergies, clay may cause some problems. Dust tends to fly up as your pet scratches around in his box.

Clumping cat litter has quickly become the most popular. The litter works with the moisture in the waste, clumping up as soon as your cat goes. This is good for you because you don't have to change out the entire box, you simply scoop out the clumps, then add more litter to replace what you just cleaned away. And although it won't remove the smell, clumping litter does come in several different scents to help hide the odor. The problem here is that some cats tend to eat the clumps. You'll have to watch your cat carefully to make sure this is not an issue.

Silica litters are some of the newest on the market. Silica has been used for years in the small packets you see in pill bottles or in your new pair of shoes. It's used because it is a great moisture absorber, and silica crystals in your cat litter work much the same way. They are mixed with sand and water to easily absorb any liquids in your cat's waste. You still have to scoop out the solid waste, and because it does not clump, it can be a bit messy. Another plus is that this litter is biodegradable, and simply returns to a sandy base when it decomposes.

Another biodegradable litter is paper litter, which is becoming very popular with environmental pet owners. This litter is made from pellets or recycled paper. In addition to being biodegradable, it is absorbent and is easy to carry around because it does not weigh very much.

Another litter that is generally biodegradable is made from wood. Pine is the preferred choice because of it's natural odor absorbency, but other woods are used as well. All softwood litters are absorbent with natural odor control capabilities. That means no chemicals need to be added, giving you a more natural product.

But once you decide on the type of litter you want, it's always wise to consult with your cat. They will surely let you know if they disagree with your choice by simply not using the litter box. Some cats for example don't like silica because the crystals hurt their paws. Others avoid pine because they just don't like the smell. Even though your cat can't speak, he will definitely let you know if he doesn't like what you have selected.

And while it is smart for you to know as much as possible about all the choices available to you, your cat will have the final word on whether or not you made the right decision.

"Secrets to Dog Training" Overview

A professional dog trainer compiled the work "Secrets to Dog Training". Anyone trying to train their pet can benefit from the easy to understand tips in "Secrets to Dog Training". With the help of the work, people can make their dogs more obedient. You can eliminate dog aggressiveness, sit, eliminate excessive barking, even deal with separation anxiety. Also, Importantly "Secrets to Dog Training" helps owners understand how to communicate with their pets. "Secrets to Dog Training" teaches you a system that can get your dog trained and keep it trained through a series of simple steps you implement on a regular basis.

My Experience

I know I'm not alone when I say I have always loved my dog, but his antics can drive me crazy. I really thought I had a dog that could not be trained. He chewed everything, slobbered on my guests and simply wouldn't listen to my commands. I was so frustrated I didn't know what to do. "Secrets to Dog Training" changed all that. For me it was the last chance me and my lovely dog had with each other.

When you have the "Secrets to Dog Training", it is like having your own dog whisperer in your house. The system teaches people how to communicate with their dogs, and through communication, they change the behavior.

Key Benefits of The Product

I'm an animal lover and a pushover, and my dog always knew that. Because of that, he was running the house. But I didn't have to feel mean because "Secrets to Dog Training" taught me how to train my dog without being harsh. With this book I figured out that I could make my dog happier if I trained him and that he wouldn't love me any less.

I had never trained a dog before so the step by step training program was a great help. The easy style really helped me in training my dog. I now have a very well trained dog and we are closer for having gone through it together. The book and videos of "Secrets to Dog Training" made it easy.

One of my favorite parts was how the guide helped me deal with separation anxiety. Every time I left the house alone my dog would flip out and ruin the furniture. He made so much noise when I left that I could hear him at the bottom of the driveway and it made me feel so bad I sometimes avoided going out. But with "Secrets to Dog Training" that all came to a halt.

With "Secrets to Dog Training" he no longer chews everything in sight and he can even walk by other dogs without attacking them .

"Secrets to Dog Training" best quality was that I was able to teach him all of this very quickly with their program. It wasn't necessary to invest all of my time for years on end or anything like that. My social life remained in tacked despite training my dog.

Final Thoughts

The "Secrets to Dog Training" have changed my relationship with my dog for the better. I can tell my dog is happier to because I can enjoy him a lot more now he is trained properly. Most of his behavior was die to my inability to communicate with him properly and now that I know how he has become a much better dog.

Cat urine. One of the less appealing odors one can ever have in the house... And trying to get cat urine out of carpet is for some people in the same category as having a root canal.Yes, it is distressing and it is easy to get angry with the cat. Who wants a smelly house?

Removing cat urine is one of the more challenging cleaning tasks. Not only is it very pungent, the urine actually bonds with fibers in your rug. The biggest mistake when cleaning the cat urine is to not use proper cleaners.

Salts in the urine form crystals that causes another type of bond with an ionic charge. The longer the urine has been on the rug, the stronger these bonds become.Using a homemade cleaner will not dissolve these bonds, nor does steam cleaning your carpet. Sometimes steam cleaning will make the problem worse.

Some cleaners available at the store are nothing but "odor maskers". Other products attempt to absorb the foul smell.

These products, along with the home made remedies, may have short term results, but in order to completely eliminate the odor, (and to not encourage your cat to soil in the same place) every trace of the urine needs to be removed by cleaners that can undo the strong bonds between the fibers of your rug and the urine.

So, you got cat pee on your rug? What is the first thing you should do?

1. Mop up as much of the urine as you possibly can. Use absorbent paper towels or old towels. Lay them on the spot and blot until there is no trace of wetness. Recognize that you may only see a small part of the spot as the urine soaks into the padding under the carpet. Be careful adding water to the spot. You don't want the spot to spread out into the padding underneath.

2. Use a cleaner based on enzymes that will actually consume the urine. Inject it into the padding, and then spray on top of the carpet. Pet the cleaner into the carpet.

3. When using a proper cleaner, that is all you need to do. No rinsing needed. Keep your cat away from the area until it is completely dry which can take a few days.

It can be easy to get angry with the cat for not using the box. But try to control yourself and don't scold or get angry at your cat.

When a cat eliminates outside the litter box it is a sign that something is amiss. Frequently a medical issue such as a urinary tract infection is the cause which would need medical attention. The cause needs to be discovered and corrected to ensure future success.

Armed with the correct information and the proper products cleaning the urine from your carpet while preventing the behavior to re-occur, you are well on your way to have a happy purring kitty and a clean smelling home.

There is so many ways that our pets are wonderful. Anyone fortunate enough to own a pet has love for it. You can train your pet without hurting the relationship in any way. Pets are usually more loyal than anyone we have ever or ever will meet.

One of the most important things for you to understand is, the commands and rules must be constant. We tend to get upset with our animals because they stop being obedient after a certain period of time.

Whatever route you decide to take in training your pet, do it yourself or hire a trainer, you must be consistent. Once the pet has a clear understanding of what the rules are they will happily follow them.

The true key in training your animal, specifically your dog, is training yourself. When you give certain commmands to your dog, keep your tone constant. For example, when you are telling Spot to sit while you are in a good mood, don't change it from when you are in a bad mood. Do not let it go from "O sit baby" to "SIT YOU STUPID DOG!!!

Your dog is clueless to why you are yelling at them in this situation. Although they carry this great love and respect for you, they are now becoming frustrated and uneasy.

I know we all love to talk with our animals, but the fact is they really do not understand English or any other language. Our pets understand tones and sounds. This is why they are able to understand commands when done consistently. Trust me I am not telling you not to talk to your animals. I actually think it is probably healthy for your relationship with them, because as I said before, they understand sounds and know when you are showing them love by how you sound when you communicate.

Be sure that when you are deciding to be serious about having a well trained pet that it all starts with you. If you get into the habit of saying "sit sit sit" don't expect your pet to sit on that first one, you are training them that if you do not say it three times, you really don't mean it.

So remember if you take anything away from this article it should be this, you guessed it "BE CONSISTENT!" whatever your methods are stick to them and you and your wonderful pets relationship should stay in great shape and get even better!

T. Clark gives free training courses, tips, and advice. You should also check out this truly effective and proven dog training equipment.

When a pet is termed as bad by the owner, usually it is they who are the cause. When you are ready to include a magnificent feline into your family and life the question arises whether to purchase a cat, or to adopt one who is looking for a safe loving home. You can purchase a kitten or a retired breeder for a reputable breeder, or you can adopt a cat from the shelter or from a family who for whatever reason needs to relinquish their cat.

If you are interested in showing your cat, buying a purebred cat may seem like the only option, but in fact the major cat organizations such as ACFA also have a household category where you can show off your pretty kitty regardless of origins.

Acquiring your cat from a reputable breeder, (again, a caution about buying a cat from a pet store, in the US at least, many of these cats come from kitten mills where the cats are raised in deplorable conditions) can have some benefits. Many breeders offer a guarantee, and you can research past generations for health issues as well.

Some cat owners swear by certain breeds with regards to a good temperament or healthy constitution, and the only way these folks can be guaranteed that they are getting exactly the breed of cat they want is by purchasing one that has accompanying documentation. For some people, this is the only way they would consider bringing a cat into their home.

Choosing to adopt a cat means that your options are wide open. An added advantage is also that cats waiting for a home will already have lived in one and information about their behavior will most likely be available.

Some cats at shelters come with a full history, such as if they deal well with young children or with other pets. There is also a great feeling that can come with adopting a cat since some cats that are never adopted wind up euthanized by the shelter. There simply isn't always enough room for all the cats in the shelter, so sometimes there is no other choice. By adopting a cat, you're saving the cat's life.

You can also find a cat that is looking for a new family by scouting the ads in the local papers. Or post a notice in your local grocery store. Many cats have to be relinquished due to a divorce, allergies, death of the owner, changed living conditions, etc.

The advantage of adopting a cat from the shelter is that the cat will have had it's health evaluated. Adopting a cat from a family mean you have no idea if there are underlying health problems.

Some struggle with the decision of whether to rescue a cat at the shelter, or to purchase one from a breeder. Rest assured that once you do decide to get a cat, one will find you. Cats are just like that. You can start your search, investigating your options, and before you know it "your" cat will appear.

Many people like to super-size your coffee and get additional toppings on your pizza, yet, having to choose a big dog won't always guarantee you of all or most of the advantages. Each dogs type' of inheritance is one defining factor to which their particular requirements are based upon. Some types, like hunters, are genetically programmed to crave the open spaces and outside physical exercise. If you are looking for dogs to be "lap dogs," some breeds of dogs such as miniature dogs can actually serve you well, since they don't need that much space or time to be outdoors just to run around and play, you wont find it hard to deal with them particularly if you're the idle type of person as they can go with the flow of your life.

You should take into consideration the size of your living space when you are choosing the size of the dog that you want to take home. A German Shepherd is a marvellous watch dog for your city apartment, but you must give that dog time in the park to run and be active every day. If you can't provide this dog the kind or amount of exercise that it needs because you're too busy, tired or is just idle enough, then, a watchdog is not what you really need but an alarm system instead. If you want a pet that could remain contented just being inside your apartment and being outdoors is not totally his inclination, then you might as well go for a toy dog like a poodle or Chihuahua.

If you have a secured balcony with solid, high railing, that may be enough outdoor time for a small dog, supplemented with at least one daily outside walk. Don't be fooled by the appearance or temperament of a particular dog.

A greyhound is a gentle dog that's also very quiet, since it can really be good to close living spaces. But that gentle greyhound must have daily physical exercise in enough area to run and play. For up to the speed of [forty five] mph, greyhounds can actually run that fast or even faster, so if you don't see to it that you can provide them enough time and space where they can freely run around, then don't be frightened if your living room will be turned into their own track. The result of such event is not likely to please you and not even your dog.

Size has everything to do with dog maintenance. You fell for the charm of that cute, furry puppy that barely nibbled the pup chow when you visited the pet store, but now, it grew up to be some creature in the form of a 120 pound St Bernard that could almost consume just anything and would even leave your wallets very soft and thin. If you want him to get enough nourishment then you better give him about 8-10 scoops of a daily high quality dog food, you will have to deal with the cost of a daily steak dinner, that is unluckily not for you to consume. Your huge dog also pushes around furniture like feathers. When there's nothing to do and you're racing late, then don't be appalled seeing a fully-deconstructed living room when you get home since your large dog is more likely to do that to entertain himself.

On the other hand, tiny designer costumes, knitted sweaters and clever playthings are what you can find in the closet of so many toy dogs. Giving them such canopied or French provincial fashionable beds is also one of which most pet owners would love to do for their miniature dogs. The doggy stuff can take up far more space in your home than the dog does.

Some pet owners have multiple pets and if you are one of them owning multiple dogs, sleeping space is one important requirement that you need to provide each dogs irrespective of what breed they belong. You should not anticipate that they would approve of being crowded with each other in just one place. Space is also one fundamental thing that they need just like any being. individual territory where it is possible to sleep, relax and hide their personal things such as bones or toys is also one thing that most dogs actually call for.

Outdoor dog houses having enough protection from any weather particularly the bad one should be provided to those dogs that are left to sleep or reside outside. Sharing a bedroom with a neighbor is not something that you would actually do, do you really think that your dog would do the opposite or that he would even care to share his own doghouse to some new dog especially to the one that he is not acquainted with? Bear in mind that if you want to add up another dog to your home, the space and care needs of each dog should be considered.

Dogs are still viewed as a man's best friend, even though many of them would like to eat the remote control. It is because they have that characteristic of being dynamic, but they are at home with a television addicted couch potato. This mismatch can make for a strained human relationship - or a really sad dog.

If a dog is what you want to bring into your home, you must think about the activity level that the dog needs to be physically and emotionally healthy. Some lazy adults think that if they only had a dog that needed walking twice daily, then they would get the physical exercise they've so carefully avoided for so many years. Active dogs need active keepers, but if they have been matched with idle folks, a change of ways is badly needed - nonetheless, that can't be easily done. Since idle keepers are more likely to slack off during walking sessions, the dog is not likely to get the essential benefits of having a frequent outside time thus the dog will be the one to suffer.

Giving your dog enough physical exercise is not equivalent to giving him the quantity of daily physical activity that he needs. The time to walk, run, jump and relax is what each and every dog needs for every single day. That may come with a walk on the lead to the park or around the neighborhood. You don't have to put your dog on a leash to let him enjoy the freedom of running and playing if you have a home with a fenced yard. If you are one of those older adults who are concerned about having limited mobility, then you might as well go for a dog that won't demand you of too much activity everyday. There are individuals who are inclined to have their recreation or enjoy the feeling of relaxation out-of-doors and they are those of which active dogs would love to spend their lives with. Both keeper and dog look forward to the end of the day, because it would be the time for them to enjoy playing chase or running together in the park.

Larger dogs tend to be more physically active. Those coming from the breeds of working or hunting dogs may comprise those kinds of dogs. They have an innate desire to be busy and work off energy. Dogs which are born for movement and agility may include the Doberman, Beagle, Irish Setter, German Shepherd and Greyhound, so, the longing to have daily exercises is already expected by them. Size can fool you as the extremely large dogs like the St. Bernard and Bull Mastiff, who can easily outweigh their keepers, are low physical activity dogs. The movies may have presented you with a St. Bernard doing some rescue operation, what you don't recognise is that to sleep in front of the fireplace is the physical activity that usually takes up most of the dog's time.

Small dogs like Poodles and Chihuahuas can live in small spaces and forgo the daily long walk in the park, but these dogs can be high in activity even just around your house because they have in them some high-strung temperaments which are already part of their breed. Granted, their activity may be running aimlessly around the room, jumping on your guests or bouncing on you, but once they're already out of energy, all they do is simply behave. That's the point where the little dogs crawl back on your lap or on their sumptuous pillow for a well-deserved nap to recharge.

There are a lot of things that you need to consider just before you decide on buying a dog. By taking time to make a profile of the dog that best fits your living space, character, and personal activity level, you'll have a better match for a lasting relationship.

We are living in a technology world today, a world where people have needs that they want to be taken care of through technology. Some people have self needs while some have needs for their loved ones. In today's world when people are probably more concerned and caring about the pets than maybe even family members, they want their pets' needs taken care of as well. This growing need of pet lovers gives rise to a demand of some technological solution for pets' safety and security, and GPS microchip technology is born.

A GPS tracking system works in conjunction with the orbiting satellites which transmit signals to the GPS receivers, thereby pointing the exact location of the objects. The receivers pick up the message directly from the satellites in space. This data is processed by way of complex geometrical calculations which in the end would yield the location of the object accurately.

GPS is a short form of Global Positioning System, which is a method using signals sent out by satellites in orbit to be received by GPS stations to find the perfect location at that time. The signals or message transmitted from space, which are received by GPS stations or receivers and calculate the exact location through geometrical calculations of data.

Pet lovers can get a GPS microchip installed in their pets from their nearby vet. The system will not hurt your pocket as it comes at an affordable price. The procedure will not inflict any pain to the pets. Besides, the GPS unit will last as long as twenty five good years. Thus you are spared from the pain of constantly updating or servicing the equipment.

It is just going to a veterinarian for fixing a microchip dog collar on your dog at a nominal cost. This is a painless operation and you have nothing to worry about. It will be active for the next 25 years without any change. The principle of working of the microchip is the same as with the radio frequency detection technology, which does not require any external power supply. The specific microchip will contain the detail of the pet owner as well as the details of the pet.

There is a principle difference in the working of the microchip detector and the GPS tracking system. The GPs tracking system runs on a definite active process you are able to track down your pet at any point of time in an active performance. In the case of a microchip technology, it is just like the action of a reflector, which sends signals to you when you are very close to your pet. In a GPS tracker system the area of the search is the entire world.

The primary objective behind the activation of GPS in a dog collar is to let you track down your pets. At the same time, a microchip is limited in its action. It is more of an ID for your pets, an identification system. This enables you to verify your long-lost pet.

So next time you are thinking about getting technological help for your dog's safety, think clearly about what is it that you exactly want from the device and then make an informed decision that meets your needs.

Microchips do not solve the problem. A Pet GPS tracker will find your pet in minutes Learn why our system is better at http://www.LoveMyPetsGPS.com.

Guinea pigs can make great pets - they're not too big, they don't bite and are generally very calm and friendly: perfect for those who don't want the responsibility of a dog or a cat. But they still need a good amount of space and certain other supplies before you take them home. Just use this article as a guide to what you can expect from your new pet!

Gathering Your Supplies

Before you buy a new pet guinea pig, make sure that you understand just what care its going to need. The great news is that these make relatively inexpensive pets, but youll still be making a long term commitment (most guinea pigs live between 5 and 7 years). The basics youll need include food, a water bottle, a chew toy, a spacious cage (see below), bedding and a covered sleeping area.

Making Your Pet Guinea Pig Part of The Family

If you give your guinea pig the comfortable home it deserves then it won't try to escape. It's going to need space to move around in, and guinea pigs also generally prefer company. When it comes to just how much space they will need, it's a good idea to have at least 2 square feet per animal. That way, you'll make sure they're a really cared-for part of the family.

Guinea pigs will also need the space to hide away - especially if you have more than one. Give them a covered area to sleep and hide and they'll be happy.

Getting Used to Your New Pet

Guinea pigs have always been famous for how easily they scare - but this doesn't mean it will be impossible to form a bond. All it means is that you should try to appear friendly to them at all times. For example, when you want to watch them, make sure you kneel and don't lean over the cage.

To build a bond with your new pet, gently start to pet them. It might take a little while, but when they do get used to you they are extremely friendly animals. Eventually you'll be able to pick them up and cuddle them, but just make sure to support their whole bodies and hold them gently - they're very small and delicate creatures.

Guinea pigs won't bite, which makes them great creatures to get close to. Just remember that it can take time, but once you have that bond it will never be broken!

Terri has been the proud owner of pet guinea pigs for years. Take the absolute best care of your pet guinea pig by visiting her guinea pig blog for more tips, reviews, and care information. Raising a mastiff is much the same as caring for any other breed of dog. You should take care to begin training your mastiff puppy as soon as you can, as well as develop a good exercise routine. Mastiff training can be stressful if you don't have the drive for correction. Your mastiff will need a good diet and regular grooming to ensure he remains in good health. Be aware when taking in a mastiff that they have a tendency to want to lie around with very little desire to exercise. You will need to have a determined attitude toward exercising your mastiff.

It is recommended to walk your mastiff on a daily basis and approximately twice a day to maintain your mastiff's health and happiness. If you have a back yard then it is ok to walk your mastiff once a day as they can walk around the yard. But if you live in an apartment it is recommended to walk your dog at least twice a day so that they can get a regular exercise.

Mastiffs are big dogs and require a regular diet of quality dog food to maintain good health. Mastiff puppies should be fed roughly four times a day after they've been weaned onto puppy food. As your mastiff grows, you can gradually reduce the amount of times you feed him to once or twice a day. There is usually a guideline somewhere on the dog food package that estimates how much you should feed your dog based off of a weight scale.

Grooming a mastiff is generally a very easy process, so you won't have to spend hours a week combing through fur. They are naturally shedders (watch out in the spring time!), so you don't have to work so hard when you brush them. They do have natural oils in their coat to help protect their skin, to take extra care not to over-wash your mastiff; about once a month should work nicely.

Mastiffs are a very gentle breed that, if looked after in the proper manner, will be a very important part of your family life. These dogs are great with children but also great as guard dogs as they will protect the house where the family lives whilst the dog is there. There are several different variations of the mastiff breed, including bull mastiffs, English mastiffs, and American mastiffs. If you decide to have a mastiff as a companion and you look after him properly, you will have a friend for life.

Caring for a mastiff can be the same as caring for any other dog; they need to be trained from young, have a good exercise routine, a good diet and must be groomed and cleaned regularly. Mastiffs can be by nature a very lazy breed and are very comfortable lying by the couch all day, every day. Because of this it is important that you teach your mastiff from a pup and give your mastiff a good routine. Their tendency of laziness is why Mastiff training should be very firm.

As your mastiff grows, you can gradually reduce the amount of times you feed him to once or twice a day. There is usually a guideline somewhere on the dog food package that estimates how much you should feed your dog based off of a weight scale.

The grooming process for a mastiff is pretty simple as they are short haired dogs that do not require a lot of grooming time. As they are also natural hair shredders it makes the process a lot easier as the hair is already loose. Like any other dogs, mastiffs have natural oils in their skin that helps them look after their fur. Thanks to these oils you will only need to bath your mastiff a couple of times a year.

Mastiffs are a very gentle breed that, if looked after in the proper manner, will be a very important part of your family life. These dogs are great with children but also great as guard dogs as they will protect the house where the family lives whilst the dog is there. Introduction:

Brushing and grooming a dog is not as simple as it sounds. If you think you can use any of the several types of brushes available to groom and brush your dog, you will be so wrong. Each of the grooming tools available in the market is meant for a specific use, and a good understanding about the specific application is necessary to make grooming easier for you.

Professional dog groomers have the expertise to look after your dog in a better way than you can manage. The expert dog groomers would use slicker brushes to remove mats and tangles from the dog's fur for all types of dog coats. A slicker brush would remove dead hairs from the undercoat and the coarser hairs from the outer coat of the dog's fur.

There are various kinds of brushes which are used for grooming and brushing:

Undercoat rakes:

Undercoat rakes are useful for dogs that shed. The brush has one row of metal prongs which remove the dead hairs from the dog's undercoat. To remove hairs from the soft loose undercoat of your dog, you should use an undercoat rake which is especially designed for this purpose.

Undercoat rakes remove the loose hairs without disturbing the longer hairs in your dog's upper coat. During the time of the year when your dog starts to shed, an undercoat rake becomes very useful to keep your dog from shedding, and it also helps to maintain skin health by gently stimulating circulation to the skin and removing dead skin.

Thoughtful consideration of Dog grooming equipment by looking at a insightful review is always recommended.

Wire-pin brushes:

The wire-pin brush is an excellent tool for general grooming of small to large dog breeds. The loose hair in your dog's coat is lifted out smoothly by this brush, taking out the debris from the fur. Brushing your dog every day, or atleast every alternate day, keeps the skin of your dog healthy, while distributing the oil present in the hairs evenly through-out the dog's coat.

You can also use the wire-pin brush to remove the fluff from your dog's coat by brushing against the direction of hair growth. Wire-pin brushes are available with or without rubber ended tips, and these brushes are mostly preferred for dogs with medium to long hair and those with curly or woolly coats.

Slicker brushes:

These brushes are essentially used to remove mats and tangles from your dog's coat, and as you brush your dog the brush helps to remove dead hairs. Slicker brush gently stimulates the skin of your dog as the layers of the dead skin are taken out leaving the blood to circulate evenly. A slicker brush is often used at the end of grooming and brushing, giving a finished shining appearance to your dog's fur.

There are various sizes of slicker brush available for the larger to smaller dogs. Slicker brushes are generally made from thin metal wire mounted on a soft padded material, looking somewhat like a hair brush. The soft padded material on which the wires are mouthed ensures that the dog does not get hurt as the brush is used.

Summary:

Brushing your dog helps to remove dead hairs from your dog's coat and clean the surface free of parasite as well. Brushing also helps to keep away fleas, and while you brush you can check for the physical appearance of the animal.

While you groom and brush your dog you can easily find out of presence of any unusual bundle, or bald spot which you may take care of immediately. As you brush your dog as frequently as every day or every other day, you slowly build up a bond between you two, and brushing would become a friendly invitation for your dog.

A dog barking is probably one of the worst noises you can hear, especially when its all day, every day. A barking dog can really cause your neighbors to really start to resent you and your dog, and if they are pushed too far, they can start to complain to animal control and the last thing you want as a dog owner is animal control on your doorstep, threatening to take your precious pup away.

If you dog is neurotic, then a stop barking collar isnt probably the best solution for your dog. Since the collar will give them an unpleasant vibration when they are barking, this could cause your neurotic dog to really not like it and hurt themselves trying to get the collar off. Anti barking collars should only be used as a corrective method only, they are not designed for every day apparel.

There are two main types of dog barking collars. A static collar is where the dog will receive an unpleasant vibration when it is triggered off by barking. This shock has no electricity in it, and will not cause your dog any pain. If you do not like the idea of the static collar then a citronella collar is your option. A citronella collar will disperse a spray of citronella each time your dog barks. Dogs do not like the smell of citronella so it will soon associate the smell with barking.

Dogs bark for many different reasons. To stop your dog from barking, you really need to figure out why he or she is barking in the first place. Boredom, anxiety, excitement and stranger alert are the some of the reasons why your dog will bark. If your dog is barking excessively then there is a good chance that there is something in your dogs life that is bothering him or her, and barking is the only way of expressing that.

Anti barking collars are designed to be used for corrective training only. They are good in the sense that if you do not have the time to train your dog, then its a good way of stopping the barking almost immediately. However, they do need to stop being used when the excessive barking stops. Its normal for a dog to bark a little, but once it gets to excessive then the dog needs to be stopped.

Do you actually know that your hamster will eat anything that it grabs on its hand with its small mouth? You, as your hamster pet owner, should take care of your hamster's meal and provide them with balanced diet.

To learn more about your hamster's diet and to take care your hamster properly, here are the 5 tips that will help you in feeding your hamster.

* Hamsters are just like ants, they are omnivores. They eat anything that they can ever find. And as you know, omnivores eat different types of food, ranging from fruits, vegetables to foods rich in protein. As for hamsters, they usually eat fruits, vegetables and seeds. However, they eat insects sometimes.

* You can obtain your hamster foods from your local pet shops or supermarket. The foods usually come in many forms, mixes, cracked corns, pellet, grains and blocks. The best option for your hamsters will be mixes. However, you must make sure that the mixes contain all types of dried fruits and vegetables.

* The best diet for your hamsters should not only consist of commercial foods, you need to feed them with fresh foods sometimes. Fresh carrots, celery, lettuce and spinach are also great fresh foods for your hamsters from time to time. Do you know that by feeding your hamsters with a variety of tastes and flavours will make them happier?

* Hamsters eat only once or twice in a day. The ideal time for feeding your pet hamster is at dusk when it usually wakes up after a short afternoon nap. You should also leave small amounts of mixes in the feeding dish because hamsters like to nibble on snacks all the time.

* The most important about your hamster food is that you must make sure that you clean their dishes everyday. You have to throw away the left overs to prevent them from spoiling.

If you are looking for tips on how to take care of a hamster, this will be the right article for you because you are about to discover the 5 simple tips that allow you to do exactly that. Hamsters are just like every other pet, they need proper care from you even though their size are as small as your palm.

Once you are ready, here are the 5 simple tips to take care your hamster

* First, make sure your hamster is living in the right cage. If possible do not use an aquarium as the house for your hamster. This is because an aquarium will tend to trap the moisture in the air and it will then make your hamster living in a damp environment. Therefore, get your hamster a suitable cage. And be sure the cage is big enough and has space for your hamster to move around. This is especially important if you have more than one hamster.

* Your hamster need to have a lot of fresh water to stay healthy. It is just like human. Therefore, provide fresh water for your hamster everyday. For example, you can use hamster water bottle that can be hang upside down on the side of the cage. If possible, don't use any water bowl as this will make your hamster fall into the bowl and spill the water around.

* Your hamster is the same like other pet, it needs something to chew to prevent its teeth from growing constantly. Try to get your hamster a chew toy. You can find these kind of chew toys anywhere from your local pet store or you can also get it from the internet. But make sure that you check for the cleanliness of this toy everyday.

* Hamsters are small animal that always hide from dangers. They like to stay in someplace where they can hide around. And because of this, you will have to provide a place for your hamster to nest and rest in their cage. For this purpose, you can use tubes and bedding to keep them hiding and resting.

* And finally, get your lovely pet some toys to play. You want to enjoy your life as well and so do your hamsters. Get them some hamster balls and exercise wheel if possible. However, you have to make sure that they have both the time for exercise and rest as well. Avoid playing with your hamster during daytime as this will irritate it.

Many people think that taking care of a hamster is a difficult task, but it is not. As long as you follow through the advices and tips from the expert, you will have no problem in this. The first step to take care of your hamster is by educating and learning about the hamster yourself.
