It is rare to find an owner of Burmese Cats who has something bad to say about the breed. Known for their lovable demeanor and long life span, they make great family pets. They can also suffer from hypoglycemia or low blood sugar, kidney stones, and heart disorders. This breed is prone to spine malformations, and knee and hip problems leading to arthritis and mobility issues. Their small size makes the delivery of pups difficult, and C-sections are often needed.

The undersized version weighs up to four pounds and has a slightly shorter lifespan than the standard breed. Their small size is often due to being the runt of the litter, or they may be half chihuahua which is evidenced by the longer snout.
