<description>My dog has had a urinary tract infection for a while. It was treated by the Vet (yes, antibiotics), and now she has crystals in her urine. I rushed her to the Vet today because she was in terrible pain. That is how we found out about the cyrstals in her urine. The doctor said they are likely from the bladder infection she had, even though the white cells are no longer apparent. They also did an x-ray and the doctor did not see any stones, and thank goodness the x-ray in general looked ok. No masses or anything. He put her back on a second antibiotic. After reading your article, I am now confused about that. How will antibiotics help the crystals, or is he just trying to make sure the infection is completely gone. Would crystals in the bladder actually cause a dog to whimper and even occasionally yelp in pain??

You mention the importance of the dog drinking. She does not drink as much as I would like her to. Should I actually &quot;make&quot; her drink a little more by using a syringe or dropper several times a day to make sure she is drinking? I give her purified water now, only, but I realized I was using tap water to soften her dog food. I give her a little bit of dry food, and some cooked chicken with some veggies in it as well.

Also, I have read on the internet that cranberry tablets would help. She is only 13 pounds. How do I know how much to give her?

Thank you for your help!
