Adding carpeting can be a mistake. The dog owner may think that putting carpet on the floor will add to the dog's comfort, but it can trap moisture, dirt, and bacteria.

Dog owners should not use any materials that can be toxic to pets. The inside of the doghouse should be left unpainted.
