There's nothing like a bundle of wriggly puppies from Castle Rock Bulldogs as your newest family member, but there's nothing worse than a dog that does not have at least good social manners. What is cute in a puppy can be hazardous as an adult, so begin socializing and training your puppy from day one.
This means not only potty training, but also making sure that cute pup behavior doesn't turn into behavior that keeps your pet from being welcome not only in your home with strangers but also in society in general. Many puppy's that are loved while young wind up in shelters due to not having the right training.
So when your young dog starts jumping on you, licking your face, or growling at people, you will need to show him that this is very inappropriate behavior. You can do this gently without harshness, just push him away gently with a stern "no no" when he shows this behavior. Another important thing with training is giving praise when they show a positive difference in their behavior.
Telling him he is a good dog and giving him praise is more fun than dealing with him later with yelling or screaming. Remember, it is a baby you are dealing with and while they will age fast, you wouldn't deal with your child by yelling at them either.
If you feel an incident comes along where you need your dogs immediate attention, instead of yelling their name, try a decent clap and then a happy call. Then praise them for coming to you. Never call them to you to chastise them, or this may discourage them from coming to you at all. Instead go to them if you are to tell them they did something wrong.
Your new Castle Rock Bulldogs puppy is the newest member of the family, and he won't know all the rules. So be patient, firm, and gentle, and remember he is a baby who doesn't know any better.
