It adopted a new kitten and named his Majesty. But now you have to say, Your Majesty, sure is not acting as it is majestic. She is acting as his ears are going crazy and itching like crazy. What could be the cause? It may well be your feline ear mites are receiving top.
If you are new to owning a cat you may not have ever dealt with ear mites on a pet before. It is not the finish of the world, nor should you panic, when your see those little miniscule critters crawling around on the inside of her Majesty's ears.
You should know this little critter in the ears of your pet is very irritating and can cause bad pain. In fact these little creatures are a parasite and can be a severe health issue for your cat.
One of the first signs that your Majesty may be infested with mites is a quick shake of the head and a contraction of the ears. Besides that you will see your attempt to scratch the irritation away. One problem with this is the continuous scratching is, of course, breaking the skin inside their ears.
This makes little small scabs (dried blood) to form. Not only scratching break blood vessels, can cause scarring and permanent disfigurement of the ear. Besides the cats ear mites saliva glands causes earwax to work overtime. This wax, of course, builds up.
With the wax build up this contributes to the worsening odor which is emanating from Majesty's ear. Furthermore wax build up can cause damage to the ear drum and the ear canal. This in turn will be contributing to permanent hearing loss and the possibility of other health issues for Majesty.
All of these problems can be taken care of easily with the proper treatment.
Likely that when you talk to vet Majesties have to see it. And actually that's a damn good idea. The faster your pet starts fine in the appropriate treatment will recover faster.
Your veterinarian will confirm the ear mites with a relatively simple check. This check may consist of looking down in to Majesty's ear canal with an otoscope. The vet may even take a sample of your felines ear mites and examine it under a microscope.
Once your veterinarian has confirmed the infestation is likely to want to make a spike of color. This procedure can be repeated 3 or 4 times. With the right solution to a very large percentage of those will be cleaned of ear mites Majesty. She will feel almost instant relief, depending on the severity of the infestation.
In addition to the flushing the vet over likely will recommend ear drops which will attack the mites. In a lot of cases the shaking of the head and the scratching will drop off significantly or stop all together. However, it is important for you to continue the treatment as the mite's eggs will continue to hatch up to a month after the initial kill.
Certainly your cats ear mites can be dangerous to your overall health cats, but with proper treatment Majesty will become once more majestic. Majesty said to say thanks for your help.
