The most popular breeds at Performance Dog Shows change from decade to decade. In the 80s the most popular breeds at the events were mid-size, long hair breeds like Spaniels. In the nineties, the most popular breeds were small breeds like poodles.
Currently there is a very large range of popular breeds at performance dog shows. Large breeds like Siberian Huskies and St. Bernards are often seen competing in the show. Small breeds like schnauzers and pomeranians are also often seen at the events. It is important to know that there are a few competitions that all breeds compete in almost equally as well as the other breeds.
Different shows feature different events. Some of the different types of events are Frisbee, Freestyle dance and Flyball. The type of the show will determine the most popular type of breed there.
Some breeds are more likely to be talented at different sports. You can find designer dog breed collars made with nylon webbing that feature all of the best retriever dog breeds including Shetland sheepdogs, Collies and German Shepards.
Small breeds tend to compete better at the Freestyle sport than larger breeds. Some of these smaller breeds are Poodles, Pekingese and Cocker Spaniels. There are dog breed collars made with printed polyester webbing that feature all these breeds.
Larger breeds tend to compete better at Flyball competitions than smaller breeds. Many dog breed collars are made to feature these larger breeds as well. Some of the styles include dog breed collars with Siberian Huskies, Weimaraners, and Pit Bulldogs.
There is no standard for what type of breed is able to compete at what type of show. While some breeds will compete better than others, some specific pets may not prefer the sport that their breed competes best in.
Your dog may not be the most popular breed at Dog Performance Shows. Don't worry. This can change as quickly as a teenager's wardrobe.
The owner of the dog ought to be well-informed about the types of collars available and how to use them properly as to not inflict injury to the dog. Jim Witt recommends visiting Country Brook Design to view the wide assortment of custom made Martingale Collars that are available in many sizes and colors.
