People who have custom aquariums usually make the same mistakes as any other amateur fish owner. The most common of these is overfeeding. The owner will require time establishing the perfect aquarium.
They will examine the water quality, put the right materials to give shelter, plants for food and even decoration and also have the proper heaters and filters. They will spend time on selecting the different types of fish and yet they might not take time to train themselves on these fishes feeding habits.
There are three major varieties of food for fishes being natural, cultured and manufactured. Natural foods for fish kept in customized fish tanks comprise of blood worms, glass worms, gnat and mosquito larva etc. Some aquarists believe that the physical activity of catching live food is beneficial for fish kept in captivity. You need to be watchful where you source this food as you do not want to inadvertently add harmful toxins to your aquarium. Also be cautious when feeding worms to fish. Glass worms are fine for adult fish however if you have really young fry you may find the worms attack them.
Cultured food items are those that you or the pet shop owner raises as a source of food. It has to be said that the majority of females will not like you nurturing live animal foods in their cooking area. Several forms of vegetarian food can be added into custom aquariums such as sliced lettuce and also green peas.
Manufactured food items are probably the simplest way to feed fish. It comes in the form of pellets or fish flakes. Don't forget that some bottom hugging fish will need pellet food since the flakes won't get to the bottom of the fish tank before being eaten by other inhabitants. You shouldn't be tempted to add in too much as overfeeding fish is a common cause of pollution in custom aquariums.
