Maya is my only child that's why we give whatever she wants as long as it will help her learn new things and develop her character in the long run. She already displayed an interest in horses even at a young age of 8 and in fact, she'd love to have her own pet horse. The cost of purchasing a horse doesn't fit our budget, we had to save up and wait for several years before buying her a horse. Besides, we have to be sure that she really wants a horse and it's not just a passing whim. She was so happy and elated when we finally gave her Black Beauty. Shortly after learning how to ride the majestic horse, our daughter was really determined to teach her new pet some tricks, such as jumping and galloping.

Black Beauty wasn't a young horse. The primary reason why we were able to buy the horse was because the owner was facing foreclosure of his farm and he wanted to save his farm and home thus, he was forced to sell his prized possessions. That's why we weren't aware that Black Beauty was already 15 years old by the time we bought her. In just a little over a year, the poor equine started to exhibit signs of aging and was starting to disobey Maya whenever she asks the beast to jump or do some exercises.

The poor performance of the horse eventually affected our Maya's self-esteem. She was depressed and appeared less excited because all the while she thought that it was her leadership skills or the lack thereof that caused Black Beauty's behavior. It has not occurred to our Maya that the problem lies with horse arthritis, which can cause extreme animal joint pains. In my bid to improve the situation, I searched the Internet and looked for clinics that specialize in animal joint pains.
